Yes. It is pretty much LGBT friendly. There also ain't that much love relationships in the 700+ chapters... If there is, its a hetro pair. There are no love relationship between the main characters although one has a crush with many. [Well there are just fan shipping, they are in all anime/mangas ....So you know... the lgbt fanboys/girls... Cough Cough.] For example, two characters have a relationship like Shizuo and Izaya. They are shipped. There are some Okama's somewhere in the manga/anime. You should also ask tsuyokunaru to confirm as well, as she also has one piece as a fav and is similar to me. Since im a supreme one piece fan tsuyokunaruprob is as well So I will try my best to sell the series to you ;) Good luck pal. |

Question on satisfying "Read a manga that has a main character of gender opposite to the demographic" Does Yaoi count as a female demographic genre with a male lead? the yaoi i'm considering What about a seinen genderbend where the male lead permanently becomes female and is (apparently from the summary) comfortable with it? - example (ie is it a male demographic with a female lead.. or a male lead) Oh, another question Omoide Emanon is "based on an award winning novel" but i can't tell if the manga won an award. does it count for the award winning category? One more question.. I swear it's the last =b Does Owari no Seraph count toward "a manga with children in it?" according to the summary, everyone older than 13 died, but I'm not sure if like... all of the characters are 12 and 13 and theres never any "children" children in it, or how lenient the category is. Finally I'd like recommendations for the following categories if anyone has something good in mind for them... (my tentative picks will be in parentheses) Character opposite gender as demographic Main character as a professional in their field (tentative pick is Monster) Focuses on a non-romanic relationship (i don't have any idea for this)(maybe deep love: ayu? i remember Pao's story being about non romantic relationships) Children in it - would rather have something less shounen-y than what i asked about above. Food (Shoukugeki no Souma) Music (Beck, Nodame Cantabile, or Your lie in april) Series another user read for this challenge - if you have something really good that you really want to rec. But i'll probably be spying on other peoples lists to see if i find anything i like later on =v For some of these I'm just looking for a shorter+completed alternative to what I have listed, in case I end up unable to read all these long mangas. Since I'm always starting long, ongoing mangas and never keeping up/finishing them, it'd be a nice change if I could read more variety by picking shorter/completed things. Here's my full list of tentative choices if you're interested in peeking |

@Kit As Ana- said those genres don't count as demographics. I think the second manga you list, with the gender bender tag, could count. For the award winning item, it must be the manga that won the award, so Omoide Emanon wouldn't count unless the manga itself won another award. You can take advantage of the tags in Baka-Updates to find stuff that could work for this challenge, for example here's one for music or for award winning work (not sure how reliable they are though!). EDIT: Forgot to say that you could read My Girl by Sahara Mizu as a manga with children in it. |

Question about one of the challenges! A manga that focuses on "non-romantic relationships" means that there shouldn't be a romance genre in the entry or should the series have relationships as a theme, for example friends, but without ever any romantic ones? Inadvertently, every time I think about series with the main focus in another types of relationships, romantic ones always pop up sooner or later. But either way, I just wanted to clarify this to be sure what to keep an eye for xD |

Thanks for the recs! I'll check them out. I know yaoi is not a "demographic", my thinking is that it is usually marketed toward women/fujoshi (meaning is has an older female target demographic) but it's no big deal to put something else in that category. Just discovered Omoide Emanon is actually a seinen (w female lead).. so i could just move that over and use something else for the award winning category. |

Questions: If I finish a manga and it applies to multiple challenges then do I mark them all as complete? Like for example: If I read a One Shot and its genres were Fantasy & historical And I had these 3 Challenges ➤Read a one-shot ➤Read a manga that is tagged with a genre you dislike (I dont like historical) ➤Read a horror, sci-fi OR fantasy manga Do i mark all 3 as complete? Or you can only apply one manga to each challenge and not multiple ones? Also do I have to finish off a manga to complete a challenge? because if by the end of the year a manga is still on going then I cant mark that as read init? sorry if that last one doesnt make sense |

No, it can't. Even if you read 1 manhwa with a slice of life tag, you can use that work for either one or the other item, not both. -What about ongoing manga? You can include ongoing manga if you started reading it after January 1st but you must be up to date in either the latest scanlated chapter or licensed volume (if you're not using scanlations) by the time you turn in your "completed challenge" form (this so participants can turn in a completed form before December 31st if if they're doing ongoing manga but finish all items). |

It's weirdly related to music, being based on actual songs, but I guess it works out. Or you could read Sayonara Piano Sonata which has an actual music-related setting. |

I haven't read any of these but they are highly regarded: Nodame Cantabile - It's long though. 25 volumes Your Lie in April - Just recently had an anime adaption (last season?). 11 volumes Kids on the Slope - I did see this anime, very good. It's about Jazz (and friendship). In Japan but during the Jazz era. 9 volumes |

So I just joined. I'm an avid manga reader so this shouldn't be too hard though some of the assignements I think will turn out to be tricky for me. But then I chose them myself so... Anyway quick thoughts 1. Should've not dropped Jormungand. That ticked the dubut manga box 2. So happy my username starts with an A. Finally a good reason to no longer postpone picking up Akira 3. Wish I hadn't read so many one shots last year. That one's probably gonna be hard. 4. Wonder what I'll read by Tezuka. I read MW last year and that was very lacklustre. 5. Hope Billy Bat's advanced a bit further by now (it's by my favourite author) 6. First box ticked: Hellsing since it's horror. And also seinen a series with a one word title and various other boxes it could tick bt hey I had to choose one right? Also a question. How do you guys link? I see everyone does it and I wanna belong with the cool kids too but I'm not so tech savvy so if someone can explain? Thanks. |

You can make links using [url=the link address goes here]words that appear as a link[/url] You can find more code in the little "BBCode" button under the text box Welcome and good luck... there's always tons of oneshots out there so I'm sure you can find one you haven't read hehe. |

Question: I apologize if this has already been asked. I'm in a hurry at the moment, so I didn't look through all the pages. I was wondering if it is mandatory to put a link to your manga list if you wish to officially sign up to do the challenge. I prefer keeping my list private, so if I have to make it public, I probably would just unofficially participate. |

You don't have to change privacy settings. |
