They got their happy end and this time waiting for Amoru together coming full circle. Everyone else also pretty much got their happy end and was nice to see them again one last time. We also got to see the og Akira and got to know what happened to Towasa.

Pretty meh stuff overall. Quite different than what the first episode suggested. I was expecting more action adventure focused show but this was mostly romance drama. Not that I disliked the anime but the most disappointing PA works anime since Kamisama ni natta hi.

Amoru being biohacked by Yokurata being fit in Yoiyami's body to kill both Akira and Yugure on the spot, all for the hopes of ehlsea-ing together, this is gone to become quite the battle on both sides, as is with Hakubo against Professor Ingmar, who claims that he discovered the femtoblood conversion by accident. As a result, Hakubo got away dealing with Ingmar for good, but Amoru having spent 7 years seeing her love never blossomed between Akira and Yugure, she's just too far gone trying to deal with her own insecurities seeing a marriage wed before her very eyes to reject all logic and being. All that it amounted to, was the infighting between the Outside Series sisters that Yugure tried her best to prevent, which went all sorts of wrong.

Yugure risking her life to save Akira, and in turn him doing the same, with Tagitsu helping him out alongside the real Akira Himegami lying in one of the capsules as an old man ready to move on with life. Him even using ehlsea as a way to signify marriages in the new convention with accountability in mind, it still leans on the user if he/she chooses to accept it. Regardless, the bittersweet ending seeing the real Akira pass on after passing Towasa's message to him, and the post-apocalyptic world moves on like the times, honouring the descendants for their work creating the androids, plus the marriage that Akira and Yugure have been putting off, their lives changed thanks to Amoru.

Yelp, this ending is exactly what I expected - a rushed ending that attempts to close the story in the cusp of limited time.

The death knell befell before you, P.A. Works, for the anniversary series that only ends up being as bad as it started.

A wincest(kinda) and a happy harem ending. Wonderful.

Overall(ignoring all the flaws), a decent enough romance series about a love story that endure world ending conflicts and the test of time. Love overcome all simply put.

Meh. I usually rate original shows higher for the sake of creators' efforts to try smth new but this one was just a slop.

Cartoonish villains, cheap drama, artificial romance and lazy conflicts. Well, at least prologue was fine. 4.5/10

This anime unfortunately comes at the time when the popularity in AI reaches the lowest point ever. It's also not good enough to tackle both AI and polyamory at the same time. I think the writer vastly underestimates the depth of both topic.

This is easily one of the biggest examples of wasted potential in modern anime history. After that first episode, I really thought this would be something special and it just went nowhere until the last couple episodes. This is a frustrating finale because on one hand, they wasted a lot of potential with the show, on the other, I was actually kinda moved here ngl ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Yes, the two minds in one body shit with Yoiyami and Amoru was random af, but when you think about it, both of them felt left out from situations where Yugure was accepted and relied on. Amoru in a romantic sense and Yoiyami from a sibling/child perspective. No one likes to see their parents take obvious favorites. Both really adore and love Yugure and were just hurt by how things played out, so in a way, them merging together kinda makes sense. The big fight with Yugure and Yoiyami/Amoru was really well done with a ton of emotion packed into it. Not as good as the action we got at the start of the show, but I think the focus was more on the emotional weight this time around so it didn’t matter.

“I love you just as much as I love Akira” DID NOT EXPECT the yuri there but I’ll take it. That’s when I really started thinking “wait this finale is actually decent?”

Some of the frustrating stuff from this finale is 1: Hakubo vs Yokurata was really a joke. Dude had no chance and was a horrible antagonist. Also, how tf did she recover so quickly after getting her head cut off last week?? 2: Yoiyami losing her memories right as soon as she and Yugure reach an understanding sucks. 3: Amoru finally got what she wanted in the end, but we didn’t see their wedding day or a kiss with all 3 of them ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Seeing the original Akira after all these years and Yugure telling him what Towasa had entrusted to her all those years ago. “I love you now and forever” kinda got me emotional. I felt their love story got cut tragically short because of the their jobs and then the war which tbf was Towasa’s fault, but still. The fact Towasa ran away and died years before Akira hurts. In a sense, they live on in Akira and Yugure and their love story is reborn, this time with Amoru as that additional support that Towasa was lacking in her original life. There was only so much Akira could do to support her and if she had a third person there to help.. who knows what could’ve happened.

WHY DO WE NEED TO SEE THE INCESTUOUS SIBLINGS AGAIN?? And Akira emphasising that he and Yugure are like siblings?? What’s with this director’s incest fetish lol. Other than that, the final scene with Amoru is so sweet because it’s a play on last week’s episode where Amoru was waiting and caring for Akira and Yugure as they were out, now it’s their turn to affirm their love and support her. Cute, def hit me a little, but ultimately not saving this show from all the wasted potential. Shame.

Well said

But there were also unfinished character development as well, like we saw the rest of the android sisters, were actually still doing fine. But they never had proper roles in the story instead of OP and flashbacks, all of them never got their own seiyuus/VAs, and what personalities do they have, than being obey and loyal androids.(Only Yuugure, Hakubo and Yoiyami were allow to walk free, but Mimei is dead permanently)

Ingmar was the worst and foolish character, just because of his lovesick attitude for Towasa. This also lead to question:
1. Where are the descendants of the 5 Sages(Minus Ingmar)? their ancestors were Towasa's allies, which makes them as Akira's allies.
2. Evil Boss Android like Tera, can't be defeated so easily.

Seeing that some of the OWEL characters had reformed, was a satisfaction.

I have a similar opinion about this to Maebashi Witches, but, in this case, the intention is clear, it's run-time that inhibits the creators from telling the story they wanted to tell. You can see the moment they were told they were not able to make a second season / cour and they started condensing the story. There are even scenes in episode 9 that were clearly sped up to reach the reveal before the end of the episode... (They had probably already animated a big part of it.) If the series was 24 episodes I would have probably loved the second half and seen the first in a new light.
However you look at it, it's just... sad... ๐Ÿ˜”

Good episode, great anime.

I'm not a huge fan of the ending, but it's whatever. This anime has been great (I've personally enjoyed it tons), but I can understand why it's so disappointing and how much better it could've been.

I give it an 8/10. I really liked it, hopefully there's a season 2 or at least an OVA, as that ending is filled with questions.

Now my Thursdays aren't going to be as exciting!

Yoiyami and Amoru were making Yuugure and us go mad lol
I couldn't sympathize much with Yoiyami since we didn't see how close the sisters were.. especially Mimei.
We saw a glimpse of some of the other sisters still being alive and Yoiyami starting new after losing her old memories.
So Yokurata just developed feelings for Towasa and felt himself to be responsible for her downfall and how things ended up. So much for a big bad villain in the end.. ๐Ÿ˜ž
Never expected the original Akira to have come up with the idea of Elsie. I still didn't get what he meant when he decided to introduce Elsie. What I got was since there was population control in place due to femto particles, I guess.. Elsie seemed to be the likely option to promote child birth. And the changing morals in the new world.. Is that it !?
Towasa lived a long life and passed on. How did Akira and Yuugure looked a little older when they are Androids !?
How long was Amoru been asleep? Looked quite long. In the end, the other characters that we met through the show lead a happy life and Kalcrom and Fides got married and have two kids as well..good for them ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚
Towasa and Akira couldn't live together for long but their kids would go on to live the life that they wanted.
My take was that this show wanted to tell that the concept of marriage might go outdated but still the love remains the same no matter what form it takes.
Still pretty disappointed with the roundabout way this show wanted to convey it's message and it's inability to deliver big after the huge potential it had in the first two episodes.
P.A works at least didn't fail when it came to animation. It was good right from the start till the finish.

Well, with the show finally over I can confidently say this. Easily the worst 6/10 show I think I've ever watched, and it's so sad especially with how strongly this series started off. So let's get through the main issue: pacing

Throughout the entirety of this season it feels as though the pacing has just been off the whole time. If I had to wager a guess, this was a story idea someone had and managed to convince management to get a season for this. The problem is that it feels as though they didn't expect to get a season 2, so they proceeded to shove everything into 12 episodes, plus the prologue episode. For example, how fast Amoru is introduced, followed by her betrayal, and then redemption. It takes place over the course of 2 episodes, but even then it's not the full 2 episodes, it's 3/4 of episode 2 and 1/4 of episode 3. In the span of about 20 minutes of watch time Amoru fell in love with Akira and Yugure, and that's frankly too fast. Episode 3 later ends off with the trio going to a new town where they go to an Ehlsea party in a place controlled by a mafia. Episode 4 has us follow everyone on this group date with the 2 mafia heirs, building up this family tension and romance tension, only for everything to be resolved in the first 6 minutes of episode 5. I could continue on for each episode, but I imagine you get the idea. Every arc takes less than 2 whole episodes to get through, with the resolution usually happening within 6 minutes.

Now onto something good, the twist that Akira was an android. I enjoyed this, I even enjoyed the backstory on the war. My friend said it best when we were watching that episode: I would rather be watching this anime. The war against Tera and seeing the Outside Series be made would have been so cool, but it wasn't the focus of the show, and unfortunately ended up only serving the 2 emotional plots of Yoiyami and Amoru.

Owel's corruption is dealt with in a montage at the end of the show. I'm sorry that's just not good.

Lastly what I consider to be the worst part of this entire show: Amoru
Amoru is so desperate throughout the entirety of the show to start her polycule with Yugure and Akira that she quite literally turns into a yandere after getting her consciousness merged into Yoiyami's body. I'm sorry, but you are not owed love by people who you met and fell in love with in 1 day. I started referring to her as Femcel Amoru at the end because that's genuinely what she was by the final 2 episodes. And the show wants us to believe that trying to kill both Akira and Yugure can just be forgiven as if it was just a crime of passion. No, I'm sorry no. At this point in time I'm going to choose to believe both Akira and Yugure are just humoring Amoru until she dies and can just happily be married with each other.

Also the show does a horrible job of trying to portray monogamy as weird. Almost every individual who is in an ehlsea we come across only has 1 partner, and you can tell because they only have 1 earring. The mafia heirs want each other and only each other. The hot spring chicks are only with each other. The book chick on has 1 earring but was doing the deed with Yokurata on the side, which genuinely just comes off as infidelity since her partner was never shown (who knows maybe she was hacked but since Yugure never mentioned it I assume it was just a design decision to have her eyes look the exact same as someone who was hacked but whatever). The couple on the train were only with each other and there was a whole arc about the fact the husband cheated on her. Pretty much every relationship we come across in this show outside of episode 1, where we have the starting throuple and the 4 women getting ehlsead is monogamous. And I'm supposed to believe that people like Idy and Amoru found it weird that Akira and Yugure only wanted to marry each other for a majority of the show? I smell nothing but bull on that I'm sorry.

Allow me to leave off this final review with a quote my aformentioned friend and I used whenever we watched this show:

"This show would be so good if it was better"

Amoru and Yoiyami blending in sure creates its own issues. Though its nice that Hakubo wasn't taken out that easily. Yoiyami sure got the death dual she wanted all along. To be able to meet the real you before they die must be quite the unique exp. Being able to see what happened to the people they met along the way was nice. Seshat becoming a book vendor though was surprising. Kinda sad that Akira never got to meet Towasa in the end. But at least she died naturally. Im glad that Amoru was able to wake up after. Overall a decent finale but also one that showed that the pacing issues wouldn't had been a problem if this was a full season instead of a half season.

This gives me massive flashbacks to Guilty Crown. Anyone remember that one?

Interesting premise, strong first episode, interesting world building at the very beginning - then went absolutely off the rails with bad pacing, random plot points, and loads of wasted potential. Sound familiar?

The only difference is that this one has a (kinda) happy ending. Seems like it will be a marriage + a pity elhsea for now, then Amoru dies and the happy couple goes back to a normal marriage.

wellllll... they screwed it all up in ep11 but fixed it in ep12. so i'll just dock them 1 whole point for the screw up. 9/10.

honestly... girl lives seven years taking care of the two comatose people she loves the most and is still a bratty, selfish, stupid, naive, and impatiently hormonal teenager when they wake up!?!

also, the creeper guy? yeah, story totally could have done without THAT background reveal! just leave the dude as a lazy Lothario type who uses women for his goal of finding out what the history of OWEL was.

the uber-scientist just allowed herself to die of natural causes at 82 years old?? ughhh... i get it but i don't like it. she should have preserved at least her mind technologically... and kept it 'turned off' for long stretches of time... so she wouldn't massively influence life on Earth etc. what if there was an alien invasion or the sisters start goin buggy and want to take over the Earth and rule it or something? this, along with the truly ancient Akira prime... they've figured out a bunch of techniques and technology to extend human life so far it is mind-bogglingly long... and at the end of it just 'hack' your own femtoblood and upload yourself into a nigh-on immortal android body... ah well...

it was gorgeous, fun, almost perfectly well-written... and frankly gives me a TON of hope for "all anime-original screenplay writing, without a source to adapt" in future projects.

I'm at least glad it had a ending, it felt out of place though compared to the rest of the anime. Almost like most of the beginning had no relevance to the ending. So much potential though it went for a last episode that kinda forcefully wrapped all the loose ends and was like you'll be happy with it. at least half of the anime would have been skipped if people actually communicated to each other.

Decent enough ending to an overall slightly shaky season with plenty of ups and downs.
OG Akira being alive in some strange suspended animation felt a bit forced though, but I didn't hate it.

I'm not against the polygamy ending, it was already established to be a thing since early on (and this is an anime, so who cares?), and after watching over them for 7 years(!) Amoru deserved a slice of happiness as well.

B+ 7/10.
Would watch S2 in the unlikely event we get one.

Well, I did like the ending a lot, so that makes up for some of the rest.Glad they included Amoru, for a second I thought they conveniently got her out of the way at the end there. But the wasted potential is still so annoying. The whole middle part feels like such a waste by comparison to the beginning and the end.

I feel like this should have been just a two hour movie, remove the middle part and you are basically there already.

OK, they cleared up most of the mess they created themselves and tied up the loose ends. The killing of Ingmar was really a bit gory (no red blood on the floor though), didn't expect that.
I didn't understand why Yoiyami showed up in the village in the end but maybe that's related to Amoru's memories they couldn't untangle or something.

Absolutely dreadful garbage. I'm glad it's over.

You know it's really something seeing them talk up Towasa, in the context of the world they're in, she and Akira would go down in history as absolute monsters.
Towasa destroyed the world, then Akira has his "ehlsea" which he outright admits is population control, meanwhile his reaction to OWEL being filled with genocidal maniacs is "to my deepest regret", uh... if you set up an organization that's basically a dictatorial murder squad it should be a bit more than "regret".
Also I just remembered - slavery is legal because of OWEL so that's his fault too, what a guy.

12 episodes, that's the main problem, even the epilogue barely fit into the last episode. Someone wrote on Reddit that the manga will have a longer epilogue, which is very necessary. I'm glad that the ending is a happy one and that they showed other characters besides Akira, but I would have liked it to be a little longer, and they didn't really show the android sisters, they just stayed behind the scenes.

Honestly, I do find it hard to sum up what I think of Towa no Yuugure. One easy way to describe it was a series is a missed opportunity, which is a shame as this series did have good potential.

The visuals look great, the animation is also good for the most part, as is the soundtrack and OP/ED songs. However, the story felt like it was side-tracked too much and the polygamy ending will be a controversial one to some viewers. I do agree with @uselessDM that this series would've been better off as a standalone movie instead of a T.V series.

It doesn't do much in effecting how I feel about P.A works and their love for original series (Food For The Soul earlier this year is one of my favourites for a good reason!), but I do feel that they missed the mark with this one. I do look forward to their next original series, whenever that'll be, in the future, along with Skip & Loafer Season 2. =)

After the last episode I was really worried that this show would not turn out well. However, they brought it around with a great ending. It was painful, confusing and difficult at part but I am just glad it was a happy ending and they didn’t do Amorou dirty for the sake of antiquated beliefs. Very happy with this ending even though the whole show kind of felt pointless in the end. They struggled to find Towa who was dead the whole time. Still I am pleased.

Amoru honestly got on my nerves and made the 2nd half of this anime annoying to watch. And as others have already said, there was a lot of potential that just went unrealized. A pretty meh show overall.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.

The #09 twist at least had the merit to bring a lot of sense to all the focus on relationships, wedding etc., but it also fed us with a great payoff expectation. We know now the payoff was lackluster to say the least.
I'm half having the feeling that I wasted my time watching this but it still did some stuff well. Like others said, a lot of wasted potential. This might be the weakest original anime I've ever seen.
So much great worldbuilding and for what?

I feel like telling the past Akira and Towa story for the majority of the show and then telling the future aftermath story we had in 2 eps or so would've been miles better.

Conclusion: I really enjoyed the ending. What I found funny was that Towasa died of old age after 80 years, even though there was a possibility of living longer, but it was still a fitting conclusion... Especially the fact that Akira, Yuugure, AND Amoru are now together, and since the manga goes beyond the anime, as the mangaka said, I'm even more excited to see what happens next. The anime may not have received much love from the fans, but for me, this was another absolute highlight! The only thing I didn't understand was why it was said that it wasn't worth repairing Yoiyami, but then she was repaired anyway, and suddenly the other nine siblings are still alive? Apparently, Hakubo really is the angel of them all. Overall, I enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun. And even though androids don't age, Akira and Yuugure looked older to me at the end!
