Finally Yor gets some screen time. About time.

This episode went into the night time but I'm still impressed by the mix of psychology, humor, and drama here. Anya is the most important one here still with her mind reading abilities so she used it play some more mind games. The way this episode/arc has been executed just sells so much entertainment. Loved the Becky/Anya character chemistry in all this too.

Obviously this is the best SxF season so far. But it has to pay high price to be this good, it has to turn itself into a very dark anime.

Family time is over, now it's spy time.

Wow. One of my fave Spy x Family arcs and resolutions thus far. Left me emotional as hell. Endo-sensei completely flipped our expectations upside down with the red circus backstory and reveal. Billy and his daughter deserved so much better, but I’m glad he didn’t make things worse and let the kids go in the end. His daughter would be proud of him.

So red circus were a progressive student movement aimed at exposing government corruption and neglect? Extremely fucking based, we stand with them. You know it’s so funny, the state security service surely know that too, but they paint red circus as being this radical terrorist group who’s out to hurt people when they really just want to bring attention to societal issues, sound familiar? Art reflects reality. The audacity of them(sss) to say they care about the country, when they really only protect government interests is insane. A country is nothing without its people.

The way Anya trolled her way into an honorary red circus membership and reminding Billy of his daughter had me dying though 😭 even with the lack of thought behind her actions, she saved the day and helped Billy regain his sense of direction. She also sounded a lot like Loid there!! No one got hurt in the end, can’t ask for a better resolution.

I know Yuri got a lot of criticism this last week for saying he was willing to let Anya die just to hurt Loid, but actions speak louder than words and when needed the most, he came thru to help Anya and her classmates. Respect

Awww, omg. The way Becky runs up to and hugs Anya after the hostage situation ended is so sweet. They’re really the most important thing in the world to each other, I love them sm!! Such a great ending.

It was sad what happened to Billy's daughter but it's no use taking out that anger on kids. He couldn't forget her death but he should have held on to the beautiful memories that he shared with her.

Anya really saved everybody's asses with her psychic powers and innocence. Was Martha an assassin? Lol ..I really thought that was Yor who came rushing for her daughter 'cause of the quick moves that she displayed. From the preview for the next ep, it seems Henderson sensei after witnessing the courage of these students gonna hand them stella ❤️

It really is now Anya's era, haha

Yor's special food to celebrate Anya incoming 😭🤣😂

Do not worry, folks, the government who kills students in protests is perfectly fine, the real bad guys are the ones who try to fight back and haven't killed anyone (yet). The villains will go to prison where they belong and our great country that kills teenagers will be safe

THIS IS WHAT SPY FAMILY CAN DO!!

The music and animation were just as top-notch as we've come to except, but DAMN this episode came with punches, emotional punches that is. The whole story of Billy and his daughter was just so beautifully done. Both the characters are flawed in their own beautiful way and this episode as a whole presents the dilemma between standing up for what's right, and looking after your own well-being. Neither side is truly wrong and the anime does a great job at getting that across. It also shows us how ordinary people like you and me can go against all we stand for and turn to extremism when exploited by extremist groups in our times of weakness; how obsessed we can become with revenge that we see red (literally in this case) and forget about everything else. As always, the comedy was also firing on all cylinders, and it's truly impressive how they managed to balance that with such dark themes in the rest of the episode. This episode also showed further just how brutal the SS is.

I swear, when Billy stepped out to surrender and the woman went out as well, I forgot sure thought that the driver too would step out and the SS would shoot them all.

Episode Rating: 9/10

State security doesn't care if blood of the innocents is on their hands huh. Lol Becky's complaints. But the whole point of military rations is not their taste but their ability to restore the energy of troops. The circus being orginally a student led peaceful gathering was surprising. As was the fact that Billy in the past was just a normal person. The op to secure the other bus left a lot to be desired though even if it was a success. Anya's bravery really is something. But between Billy's surrender and Martha's jump stun that sure was an excellent end to the busjack.

The episode that will probably make Anya finally earn another star after so long. With her telepathy she was able to get ahead of the situation and get everyone to safety albeit with some luck as well. The episode delves as well into the matter of police brutality and speaking up against oppressors or what you believe to be wrong.

Man, this might be the best season out of the 3.

This season has been doing great at expanding the setting this anime has.
Although Spy X Family is quite a upbright and funny anime, the truth is that it's taking place in a country that is almost going into war, and has a repressive government, so it definetely has a dark setting, that was just barely touched until this season. Now with Loid's backstory and this arc, we can see that the future of that country is grim to say the least.

Anyways, the backstory of Billy and his daughter Biddy was really emotional, well executed and portrayed the reality of the country really well. Students getting killed for going against the government is something that every country that had a repressive government can remember (and it's good people don't forget how it was), and it's still the reality for many other countries.
I wasn't expecting them to show Biddy's lifeless corpse... That was dark, yet, realistic...
When Billy said he didn't want to lose Biddy twice, it honestly made me tear up. I feel like they executed this storytelling really well, because towards the end of the episode I got really emotional (basically tearing up), and to end the episode with Billy looking back at Anya, that remembered him of Biddy, was really sad and tragic.

We got to see a bit more of Yuri in action, but I honestly thought we would get to see more. I also loved how he complained how he got hurt while helping the rescue of Anya, we can already tell he didn't do all of this only for Yor, I'm sure deep down, he's a proud uncle.
Martha being OP and saving Anya from that terrorist was also amazing to see. And big heads up for Mr. Henderson, that decided to become trapped inside the bus to help his students. A teacher that truly cares for his students, I would say he is pretty ELEGANT.

To end this post, I liked how they showed Yor worrying for Anya, and understanding that the school was lying to her when they said that the school trip was just taking longer, because it shows that Yor is aware that a scandal like what happened with the bus would just be buried by the government, and that should be the case to what was happening to Anya, once again showing how suspicious people are of the government.
It seems Anya is getting a Stella next episode, and she honestly really deserves it!

I can't even imagine how easy it must be to "fight" in the name of "freedom" and "equality" when in reality those words are just justifications for shaping public opinion by spreading a narrative of oppressor and oppressed. Honestly, I laughed when the dead girl appeared; one moment she was talking about dying for valuable ideas implanted in her head by people who are part of the problem, not the solution, and then she died without ever realizing the real truth. Sorry author, but your critique is shallow and extremely cliché—not that I expected anything profound from Spy x Family, of course.

@Marinate1016 Yes, it's quite similar to real life, especially in how the author portrayed how shallow these ideological movements are, to the point that they don't even realize that they are actually part of what they claim to fight against, although it's obvious that this wasn't the author's intention. lol

Interesting arc, the villain daughter's idealistic view of the world being used by shady organisations causing trouble in the name of "peace" and "equality" felt so wrong, i truly feel bad for him and her.

He knew that finally the red circus were truly the ones that killed his daughter in the end but still blamed the government (which ostania clearly proved this season they can do some bad shit still) to somehow follow her steps, atleast in the end he recognize how wrong that was and gave up, respect to him for that compared to the two other pos he made the coup with.

Whoa, didn't think they would go with the "student movement being beat up by the government"

Since this topic is actually quite true and a reality. It's happened in China and it's literally still happening in the USA.

Where Trump punishes the Universities, Students and People that doesn't obey him or his "religious ideals".

(and both countries has used lethal forces against the people/ students, China with Tanks, USA with armed guards)

.

If they just went with regular terrorist trope, no one would have cared much about these kidnappers and just enjoy the show.

But they added in this reality, which makes people feel compassion about the terrorists even if what they're doing is wrong. (especially showing the guy's backstory about his dead daughter)

Especially considering the fact that the government (anime) also killed little kids (students). So in a way the government is also terrorists by their own definition.

But the government won, since the government won't be viewed as "bad", especially with the show's main characters (Loid) being the top spy of the government, and I am sure no one would think of Loid as the "bad guy".

Either way, I am pretty sure everyone (Red Circus) that got caught is dead, they're not going to be imprisoned, they're being send to Death Camps, just as those State Security dudes mentioned in the previous episode. There is no redemption or survival when you go against the government.

.

At least Anya now has a pretty good standing and rep with other students and the Headmaster (even more).

Since she single-handily got the bad guy to give up, and everyone on the bus know it.

Another banger episode. I love the fact Anya pulled the quote from Loid of to make a world where children dont cry. Anya once again saving the day. I love the fact Anya isnt helpless and actually most conflicts get resolved by her either supporting Loid/Yor or directly.

I cant wait to see Yor and Loid's reaction to seeing the news that Anya was in a hostage situation. I was so expecting that show to be Yor but it was the butler.
