Ye, this is one of those high school romance dramas that started from a childhood crush. Sae and Koki knew each other but looks like Koki became quite handsome over the timeskip. This is a very school focused setting by the looks of it so far. We got a school competition already just from the first episode. Sae and Koki are definitely the main focus for now and they seem fated to be reunited in this present. Animation wise, I think it looks fine. |

This author really is the definition of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Looking through her portfolio... is there anything in there that isn’t shoujo lmao. Obviously she’s most known for the infamous Oremono, and now here we are, ten years later with another one of her works, and surprise, surprise, it’s another shoujo. This one’s way more barebones compared to Oremono though. Childhood friend falls in love with the other childhood friend, has to figure out her feelings, yadda yadda, you already know the drill. And if that wasn’t shoujo enough, wow, this is peak shoujo aesthetic. Like, the most shoujo character designs ever. Shoujo always has that “one feature” exaggerated, whether it’s lips or, in this case, the massive eyes on our main girl. And with big eyes come big tears.. yep, it’s definitely a shoujo xD Would’ve rather seen High School Debut get an adaptation, that’s for sure. |

After a long decade, mangaka Kazune Kawahara is back with yet another adaptation of her works since Spring 2015's Ore Monogatari!! a.k.a My Love Story!!, and this series attempts to have more of that same feeling, but in a different skin. The childhood friends of Sae Iwata and Koki Kamishiro, which basically is a "love at first sight" one-sided crush from the former towards the latter, and the two really hit it off as they each support each other since elementary school, growing up right into their 3rd year of junior high, as Kamishiro grows into cool stardom with friends and admirers alike as the most popular guy in school. Still, Iwata really looks up to Kamishiro all the same, and her feelings for him only grow stronger than ever when they're class reps being requested to do the banner for their sports day. Both childhood friends spending the night to paint their class banner in preparation for their school sports day (with permission of course), and as the two return home, they share the times of their fondest memories that only resonate more with each other. The thing is, Iwata can be jealous when other girls are close to him, though it's everyone who sees Kamishiro for who he is as a brilliant guy, though his heart truly and only belonged to Iwata. as they make their way towards gradation and into the same high school thereafter. The one-sided crush of Iwata's going into high school...with Kamishiro capturing more attention from new girls despite being in the same class, how would she navigate through another few years of jealousy? A nice start, all things considered. |

That was the most innocent and cute but also the most dramatic school flashback i've ever seen in an anime, no really ... if we ever needed more proof that those two giants were made for each other. I mean it looks good, one of those kind of stories. |

Well a view in the past so far it seems sugarsweet but not sure what else to expect. Will the anime continue this tone or will things change, it will be interesting to find out. |

Wait, Koki's junior high best friend Takuya (has undercut hair) doesn't go to North School? Awww and I kinda fall for him. This anime deploys so many technique to make it comedy, but the first episode give me a wrong impression, and it's quite fatal one, it makes Sae and Koki relationship look like mother watching her son grow instead of romantic relationship. |

Damn, this might be just be up my alley! Also, Ore Monogatari is one of my fav romance stories, so I’m definitely excited for this. Signs are it’s not just one-sided but can’t keep holding on to it yourself, girl. Here’s to hoping there’ll be spark at some point to propel it… |

Aww, very sweet. My type of romance. She is going to have a height complex, I can tell. The fact that 1.68 cm is regarded as that tall for a girl in Japan is crazy to me. xD |

The male mc in that is kinda portrait as a really huge guy and at some point they reveal he is like 180cm tall, the same as me basically and that made me laugh since I live in europe and I'm average height with that at best. |

So far so good. Really like the animation, looks great. I'm not a fan of the potential love triangle, but I will watch it and hope the pay off is worth it. |

i was a little confused when the scenes with special effects came, it seemed like it was her imagination/wish, but apparently those really happened? (him calling her cute for example) the ending of that episode sure moved fast in time, but I'm invested. |

Amazing season for Shoujosei fans coming up wow! These “plain” girl x hottest guy in school shoujo romances never get old. Idc how many they pump out, I’ll watch. I love the nostalgic vibe of this one as Sae tries to recapture the type of relationship she used to have with Koki as kids+battling her insecurities. My immediate reactions following this premiere are 1: there’s no way they’re in middle school 😭 and 2: Sae being so insecure about her height is crazy because she’s so pretty. Who wouldn’t want a tall sweet girl like her?? Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, but given Japanese/East-Asian beauty standards, I can understand her feeling uncomfortable in her own body. They really utilized the 25 min runtime to the fullest extent. Packed a lot of their backstory in. I liked it because it showed how close they were as kids and how Sae protected Koki, then he got popular and Sae sort of loses some of the purpose she had before. It makes her feel like she isn’t as important to him and they do what normally happens as you grow older, drift apart. Thing is, whenever Koki talks to Sae you can tell he still thinks about all she’s done for him and obviously likes her so that’s good! The relay race at the festival was such a sweet moment. Now that we’re in high school and they’re in the same class, it’ll be interesting to see how things develop. The fact Sae’s future best friend just fell into her lap is so funny too lol. |

After Busu ni Hanataba wo. from last season, I am a little worn-down on low self-esteem shoujo heroines. Given the track-record of the mangaka behind this series, I hope we get steady growth and these two becoming a couple sooner rather than later. |

Seems good so far, I just know there is gonna be a love spat/ triangle situation, which I'm not excited about. Also, his first appearance gave me a jump scare; those eyes were a little too blue, like staring into your soul. But besides that, his a very golden retriever character. |

This was a pretty good introductory episode though at some point I was like "enough, we get the picture that you have a crush. We don't need to be reminded every two minutes". The story begins next week. This love triangle is going to make or break the anime. |

This was probably the most bland, by the book, milquetoast pilot episodes I’ve ever seen. Plot is basic, characters are simple, there’s nothing really interesting so far. I’ll give it one more episode. |

it was good but aren't they running sm ? what is that pace at the 1st 10 mins she was talking like she doesn't have any way to even talk to him 10 - 15 mins she goes to make the sign and we get the ur the only cute girl and I wanted to say it 15 - the end they are best friends yoo wait sec please take it step by step 4 / 5 really loved the characters and the draws the animation is a bit off tbh like they don't want to animate it but if it continues that pace we might see them died in the 12th ep |

Adorable prologue. I’m glad both the protagonist and the heroine enrolled at the same high school, but going all the way from Tokyo to Hokkaido just to attend a prestigious school? Wow, that’s like a 17-hour drive. Are they staying with relatives, or living on their own? Furthermore, I found it a bit odd that even though the school is in Hokkaido, there ain't any students speaking in a Hokkaido dialect. Everyone talks like they’re from Tokyo. Maybe that’s just how it is because it’s an anime. Either way, I’m excited for the upcoming episodes! |

That was cozy, cute AND really really funny. Loved it. The first 8 mins of backstory felt like a short of its own and did a really good job catching us with our mains past. They both are ADORABLE by the way. I'm definitely going to check this one weekly. |

Wow this is so cute. I thought the card Kouki got had 'your crush' on it but it turned out to be 'a cute girl'... I mean, I really want this childhood friend to have a happy ending. But I'm sure they like each other anyway, because Kouki chose to go to that high school after hearing that Iwata chose it. Or well at least that's what I hope lol. I think the long haired girl at the end had a crush on Kouki at first sight.... hmmmmmm It's different, but I feel like this could be a substitute for my weekly sweet romance after Busu ni Hanataba wo ended. I'll try to read the manga tonight. I'm really curious. |

Meh, the characters are a little bland so far. The main girl doesn't have much personality or thoughts besides how she likes this guy, like her whole life revolves around him. I like when romance characters have something else going on in their lives. Might keep watching if there's nothing better on or if I don't end up with too many shows and have to drop some. |
