Girl, really? You’re doubting the one guy whose only superpower is making hina dolls and giving them full glam makeovers? Everyone’s got their one weird flex.. Gojo just happened to max out in the ‘doll couture’ skill tree. Show the man some respect, alright?

Btw we’re almost halfway through this season, and nothing of substance has occurred till now, unless you consider Marin’s attempts at cooking and her struggle to sew a single button as major developments. At this rate, the ACTUAL meaningful stuff might be saving its grand entrance for the next season. Thinking they'd skip stuff to make this look good was just a pipedream I guess in the end.

Wanting to do something for Gojo, Marin challenges herself by making her very first homemade bento. When Gojo finds out, what flashes through his mind is the memory of her infamous fried rice. Both of them approach lunchtime with very different kinds of tension. Meanwhile, preparations for the cultural festival steadily progress, and Marin teams up with Nowa and the others to plan their performance for the Miss Contest.

Nah, Marin’s rei cosplay is my fave in the entire series so far. I’m not a fan of the overly sexualized stuff, but she looks sooo handsome as Rei! I can tell this arc is going to be so good, I love how it’s all about Gojo letting others take some of the load off him and make his job easier. He’s always been the one to figure everything out, it’s nice to see people helping him for once!

Not them giving Marin’s bento reveal better animation than most shows’ big finale scenes lmao wtf. Using the manga panels during that scene was so cool too! Marin trying to sew the button was such a sweet moment as well. She messed up, but it’s the thought that counts

I’ve been told that the in-universe host club anime is a parody of Ouran irl which has been on my PTW for years so I will definitely check it out asap now because I really love the premise of that show in-universe!

Can’t wait for next episode to see how the festival planning continues to play out. I’ve been enjoying this season way more than I thought I would after I wrote this series off 😭 I will always give credit where it’s due.

Gojou had it hard this episode with the girls teasing him and having to deal with whatever food Marin was making for him.
And the outfit turned out nice Gojou being a perfectionist wanted to make it even better but i guess everyone else was fine with it.
I wonder if the school will accept it tho seeing that it's probably really good they might think it's the job of a professional and it might cost a lot.
Let's just hope nothing bad happens.

Puppet Panda(?) Marin.

I don't know what happened but, I felt the camera work in this episode was kinda off. Animation was still great, but the camera work had some excessive zoom ins and zoom out in quick succession, that threw me off.

Puppet animation for Hina doll exposition, huh.

"A bento or something."
*Gojo rising dread of 'or something*
*IT"S really a passable bento!*
"My heart was pounding!" (in dread)
Marin fortuitously take it the wrong way. 'he loves me!'
We'll go with that. Now if he will recognize that ...
She rapidly progresses her bento skill, farming for those Ba-Bumps.

"A minute? that's so short."
You have charmed millions, dear marin, you got this.

Otaku girl frenzy, and and Gojo joins in.

Princess Gojo. I want to see that cosplay.

I can sew buttons on, Marin, although more in a very durable way rather than as fashionable as Gojo does.

Several affirmations for side characters and things this episode.

Bento = happiness

Maybe Marin went a bit overboard, but it's the thought that counts. And a human trash can like me would've gobbled everything down with relish.

Marin making a bento for Gojo was so adorable and his worried reaction was so funny.
Direction was pretty inventive this week, a few very nice ideas.
Ah, I really like Marin and Gojo little meals with the grandpa, they feel like such a happy family.
Marin treating Gojo like a 'princess' was strangely seductive.
Nice to see Gojo learning to rely on others, and also being the one saying 'there's nothing to be embarassed about' for once, he's growing up and gaining confidence.

Another very good episode :)

Gojou feared for his life. His expression had me roling. Marin kept bringing heavier and heavier food and in heavy quantity too. Gojo survived that somehow.

The costume's done but since she wasn't wearing the bust hider thingy forgot the name so he has to redo it but he can do it. Also loving how he's warming upto the others slowly.

I swear, each episode is only getting better and better man.

I thought Marin would completely fail on making the bento but I doubted her too much, she can actually make some good food for once. Also, the scene where she was opening her bag to get the bento was so well done for NO reason. Clover Works is insane. I love it when Gojou and Marin's classmates are here, they always make the room super fun and they're all just really good people. I'm really happy that were seeing them more in this season.

Production this week was insane. This anime and “Hikaru” be going band for band for best anime cinematography every Saturday.

I love how our couple are just progressing organically every week.

We learn, once again, at the end of the episode that of course it is ok for guys to like shoujosei.

What was that puppet show sequence lol. Also, that scene with the manga panels was so fucking cool. The direction of this season is just next level. Not even Season 1 was this good. It's seriously impressive how much more expensive and well-animated it looks. Didn't think it was possible.

Bruh. Why was Gojo acting like he was going to die by eating Marin's bento for a few days? He should be grateful to have a girl making lunch for him.

How tf do those chest and ass flattening straps work. Where do they put meat, inside?

Ah. So Gojo messed up the outfit again. Let's see how he can make another one in less than 4 days.

i thought Marin was going to EXPLODE when Gojou left the room to carry that huge sign for their class... didn't she realize she was hanging all over Gojou and basically flirting her assets off with him acting like a host and all? ;> hah! but she tried that button...

yeah, her bento could be a killer... girl doesn't know how to cook other than meat hmm? ;> somebody teach Marin a vegetable or three!!! :D hah!

yup, she does need to learn male kinesthetics and such. plus, she'll have to learn how to walk and stand and hold her hands/arms. girls' hip joints, pelvis, and elbows aren't the same as guys' are so Marin will have to figure out how to mimic us dudes. :>

i'm quite surprised Gojou didn't watch any videos and documentaries about bespoke suits and how they're designed, fitted, adjusted, and put together. if he had done it properly, Marin would have been wearing her 'slimming gear' this whole time and that last minute 'oh crap the suit's not fitting properly!' wouldn't have happened. live and learn i guess. :)

just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

episode 4/5

the scenes of Gojo waiting for fried rice were hilarious lol and Marin suddenly getting happy was something very random

The scene of Marin trying to sew made me simply smile seeing that she was trying something, oh man I just hope they two date soon

and the final part of the episode still had the result of the outfit that Gojo was working on, it's incredible how hard-working he is, even though it was great he still wanted to improve, it was also good to see him interacting more with his classmates and Marin at the end of the episode, it brought me nostalgia for school

I also feel that the animation during the episode at some moments was visually incredible, wow, it only gets better, and look, I hated the first season of this, but I'm starting to like this anime

This is quite a paradox. Gojo realized that he's not manly enough to be a model for Marin so he ask his friend instead, but by accepting that he's not manly enough mean that he's manly enough to accept that he's not manly enough, thus this statement turn into a paradox.

Wasn't prepared for the educational Hina doll puppetshow jumpscare, but man was it endearing.

Gojo cracked the code to nailing a perfect character portrayal and even reached a point where he's the one telling people to have no shame in what they're passionate in. Dude's come so far and you love to see it.

This episode looked different, lowkey reminded me of Wonder Egg Priority with the amount of close-ups and how certain characters in shots looked from time-to-time. It is a CloverWorks show so its on brand that the episode director might be associated with that. They tried things with the puppet animation, the use of the manga panel and tying in with the 'holy shit' feel that Marin had to Gojo's reaction of her bento. Some things looked a little clunky but for the most part, shows the passion that the staff has for the show. The episode by itself kind of was middle-of-the-road and in the first half, pretty forgettable content-wise. But the direction and how it was portrayed was definitely helped with a bit by the staff involved.

It's not often you see a dolly zoom in anime (from around 00:52), although the whole cinematic thing throughout the episode ended up maybe a bit too distracting for my taste. Still, the puppet section was brilliant, even with a little easter egg of the credits on the TV screen mentioning Suzuki Dolls, the actual RL doll studio that Gojou Dolls is based on, and also namedropping the episode director.

And Marin, I know you were playing the role of a host, but do you realise how openly you flirt with Gojou these days? I wasn't sure if Nowa joined in because she was jealous or to try to save Gojou.

It's sweet that Marin kept making food for Gojo, despite it probably being a little much for the poor boy. That entire bento scene was brilliant with how it built tension, and I especially liked the use of real manga panels. This season's production has been very solid so far.

Yo, they keep talking about the bento scene, but I swear, I’ve never seen a more dramatic bento moment in my entire anime-watching life than this episode. They were both so nervous and embarrassed, and the second Wakana said he liked it, Marin lit up like a Christmas tree.

I mean, they’re both absolutely adorable. But I wasn’t expecting Wakana to be that anxious over Marin making him a bento. Usually in these kinds of scenes, the protagonist is just shy or flustered. But Wakana? Bro looked like he was expecting some dark matter or something. Like, chill.

It ain't like Marin's gonna poison you or anything. Anyway, I’m really glad we’re finally getting some sweet romantic moments between the main characters. We’ve had basically none for the past few episodes, so this was such a nice change of pace. Hope they keep growing closer, they're too cute together!

SUCH A GOOD EPISODE!!!!!

The entire sequence with Gojo and the bento was hilarious. My cheeks hurt from grinning too hard. And the the part where Gojo was surrounded by the two doing the princess skit just made me feel so sorry for the guy LMAO!! Marin's friend is really good at joining the skits XD.

A much better episode this week. This series is always better when they focus on just gojo and Marin and their cosplaying journey. It's exciting when the cosplay starts to really come together too.

Visually, this was a really strong episode too. The studio does such a good job of making the space feel real and full, rather than flat. I think their use of lighting is terrific.
