| I love Makeine but I must admit I laughed and was very surprised to see it won 'best slice of life' as I personally consider it more of a romcom (with some drama) than anything else. There is some slice of life in it for sure, but it's just not the genre that comes to mind first when I think about the show personally. For the rest of these awards, not very surprised to see roughly the same few names in most categories. I'll also admit that I haven't heard of, let alone seen, most of them, haha. |

| Are you really surprised with it being so abysmal? This event is held by a company with an agenda. Of course their criteria will always be based upon the best sellers, even if they're the essence of dog water. I am telling that everytime: the fandom should create their own anime of the year awards. For it to be truly fair, I'd personally separate the jury into 3 categories, which would make it 3 awards per round: the Old Guard (Gen X, millenials), the Successors (Gen Z) and a random panel of casuals with no particular profile. I'd personally select the jury of the two first categories according to how they have written at least 50 critically respected reviews in MAL or elsewhere. No influencers, since they're biased hypemongers making a living out of it. Decisions are to be made by unanimity or close. Otherwise they get the mention "contested" with no winner. No thing can really be deemed the greatest if it's too divisive. But a 4 against 1 decision would still prevail. In the end, you'd measure an anime greatness by how it manages to federate all the generational groups around it. |

| @Hiyajo-san I haven't watched Ninja Kum whatever but never saw anyone saying it was good. Heard it had an good start then fell off. MAL rating also says same. Ik it doesn't tell all but when a 6.6 rated anime beat an 8.4 one something is wrong. GBC isn't perfect but this was no competition which it lost. This made me most mad among all the shit. |
