Ye, that monster is giving the whole party a run for their money and perhaps more. One of the toughest bosses Sunraku has ever faced easily.

Loved the intensity and momentum of this episode. But knowing Sunraku, he seems to enjoy the challenge. Can't underestimate Emul
in this episode either. He had an important role and made an impression.

New OP! And I mean, in terms of music, it's probably the weakest one for sure. Visually, it's up there for sure. Think I just need a bit more time getting used to it.

Straight back into the action with Rei being thrown around by Lycagon and ALMOST FUCKING DYING??? Thankfully, Akane comes in just at the right time and saves her, and yeah, she's a favorite already just because of that. But clearly she ain't a favorite to Lycagon lmao. I mean, girl was PISSED because she took Sunraku's attention off of him. Poor girl got NTR'd xD

But yeah, I assumed that Akane was gonna be someone from another game that Sunraku has played, I even went as far as to think it was actually Rust, but nah it was that one guy who found that bug in Berp when Sunraku hopped on in season one.. lol. Anticlimactic but yeah. Most of the episode was just setting up the plan and Sunraku's resolve for this fight, which means the next episode is boutta be CRAZY.

Sometimes when I fight boss in game I also just run and run around the arena, sometimes hopelessly, sometimes strategically, and this episode reflects just that, and it does that by showing me, not telling me, it trust me that I'll realized the reference by myself without a hint if I'm a real gamer. It's just amazing, this anime is truly a gamer-centric entertainment.

Kinda doubting the ultimate is gonna slap that hard now, unless its a non-physical attack...

First and foremost I gotta say, both new OP and ED in terms of music and visuals are VERY STYLISTIC and SUCH A BANGER! I dare say it's the best out of all the OPs and EDs so far! 😆

I didn't expect the new girl is actually the same girl from the buggy fighting game at all, and she seems to be just as good of a gamer as Sunraku is due to the fact that she also got recognized by another Colossi at a fairly low player level. The Lycagon fight is still ongoing and is about to reach the climax soon, can't wait to see Rei's ultimate skill and the outcome of the battle next ep!

AHHH AWICH ON THE OP?!!? Ok they’re cooking! Love the ED as well. Shanfro just don’t miss with their songs. Great start to the first cour, battle with Lycagon reaching its climax and Sunraku and Rei finally have reinforcements! Ceecrue and Akane came in clutch!

Love how Rei is worried about Akane and Sunraku relationship mid boss fight 😭 that girl is such a simp and maiden in love it’s crazy. Whole time Akane is just a Sunraku stan and wanted to get closer to one of her fave gamers. Nothing romantic.. for now lol

Lycagon aggroing Rei and ignoring Sunraku is so damn real. Anyone who’s done co op raids or co op boss fights knows that pain of the boss just hard keying the host and ignoring everyone else. It’s so annoying. Luckily Emil was able to help out a bit, felt bad for Sunraku using her as bait though lmao.

I’m excited to see what attack Rei is cooking up next week and if this’ll finally be the conclusion. Think this’ll be episode 5 or so of this fight so it’s been a long one! I need more Arthur, Katzo and Red haired girl from the guild meeting lol

FIRE episode.Need to look at the new OP again, but the ED might alr be favourite yet.

Well as alr confirmed Akistu is Dragonfly from BERP.Surprised how much respect she got for Sunraku in the little time they met.

Now that Emuls here, rly dont think theyre gonna lose otherwise she'll be gone for good.Still dont think Lycagons goin down just yet, gonna guess it will retreat on its own.But you rly telling me the Lycagon clan never figured out that its made out of magic after all this time?

Another banger OP by ShanFro, but I am definitely going to miss the FZMZ vibes. And was that Rust and Mold I spied on the opening? ED was also great, I will always like 8-bit music for video game related shows.

Did not expect AkitsuAkane to be that player in BERP from season 1, even the side games are important in the whole grand scheme of things, like Nephilim Hollow, we met Rust and Mold who has information on Ctarnidd.

Let's fucking go, can't wait to see Sunraku and Psyger-0's ultimates and if they're enough to beat Lycagon.

So, this episode had so many great moments except the new opening(kinda creepy but visuals are good)

The reunion between emul and sunraku was my favorite and we got to see the ninja girl in action.
her saving rei was quite good too

They ended with a cliffhanger sadly :( but knowing the next episode's gonna be good so I don't mind.

The cavalry has arrived!! Sunraku and Rei getting some much needed help against lycagon. In the form of not only Emul but another one of her siblings and a ninja girl whom we saw Sunraku fight in that buggy game last season. Talk about helpful connections, Sunraku has good friends all over the place. They didn't know about the big shadow wolf but they still ran right to him to help. Akitsuakane coming in clutch with her substitution skill switching Rei with those logs when she was about to get hit. Rei landing her required hits to be able to use her ultimate skill now. Sunraku did good trying to occupy lycagon with Emul help. Figuring out that the wolf isn't a physical body like most monsters are in this game. She's a ghost or made out of pure magic, which does make sense with the shadow moving and clones. Emul having just the skill to hurt monsters like that is awesome. Sunraku is really having to juggle a lot in this fight, with keeping Rei alive long enough, making sure Emul isn't taken out, keeping the robot bird from losing all its fuel, dealing any damage he can, trying to draw aggro. Its a lot but I think he's right that this battle is about to reach its climax. Rei is casting for her ultimate so its time for Sunraku to stall for one final move.

Sunraku, Saiga and Akitsu, other 2 probably are rust and mold, as well as another emul brother, also we can see tentacle so it's indeed some octopus aka Ctarnidd of the Abyss

Yeah... 1% HP left, tanking a boss he doesn’t even know if he’ll encounter again if he loses, no healing or MP potions left, and only in moments of desperation does the player turn into a legend just to avoid losing a rare drop. Let’s go, King! Slash that Shikamaru pet with your blade!

And as for Sunraku, do you think he’ll sacrifice Suzaku by throwing him at Lycaon’s head?

Since when does 8 equal 10? It made me question myself, like, "Am I dumb and just can't count properly?" At the end of the previous episode, there were 5 hits left, but in this episode, Psyger only hits Lycagon 3 times and then says the conditions are met.

I'm being honest, I'm not feeling the same excitement and grandness as in the Wezaemon fight.
Also, never been a big fan of deus ex machinas, even tough it was announced and not an ass pull. And my engagement temporarily dropped to zero after Rei was questioning Sunrakus relationship with dragonfly.

But I very much liked how Sunraku found out about Lycaons Nature/Type of not "bleeding" polygons when getting hit with an attack.

Also really love the color choice for Rei's ultimate incantation circle. Looks great.

New OST for the 2nd Cour, and Avich's OP does feel the most different of the pack, giving almost a Harry Potter-ish vibe. cvLTe's ED with its 8-bit visuals and cool vibes definitely makes this one of the best EDs of the series to date.

Akitsuakane tagging along with Emul and Ceecrue to rush to Sunraku's aid, as much as Rei is into her Ultimate cycle for the 3rd time of 5, but finding much more difficulty having to play defense against Lycagon. That's where Akitsuakane comes in to swap and save Rei's life, as well as the Rabituzas' reunion at the worst possible time. Even worse, Rei going out of her way to question Akitsuakane's relationship to Sunraku, who is acknowledged by another fellow Seven Colossi of Siegwarm of the Sky Ruler, and quite honestly, they need all the help they can get while Lycagon focuses its aggro attack on Rei.

It's only when Akitsuakane reveals herself as BERP's Dragonfly that he knows her true colours being in the same-same-but-different skin, they're at least peas in the same pod being given massive help with her Utsusemi substitution logs. But with the new skill Mana Shaker. Sunraku at least found an exploit that he can take to his advantage with Lycagon switching targets to draw its aggro on Emul, leaving the others open to deal with it as the aggro switches from person to person.

As the powerful Ultimate spells get activated, it's time to ring the bell on the climax once more, will Lycagon win in the darkness, or will light prevail on Sunraku and the gang?

I'm confused by the whole Lycagon is made of magic thing. It's an interesting mechanic, but it seems to create a number of contradictions.

1) Sunraku says that it explains why Lycagon doesn't bleed, and seems to imply that Lycagon doesn't take damage (or takes minimal damage) from normal attacks. As a result, he's unable to gain agro (because he's not actually doing damage) and Emul's mana destroying attack is super effective. HOWEVER, that seems to contradict the prior statements that Lycagon is going after Rei because Rei is the bigger threat...which shouldn't be true since Rei isn't doing any damage, right?
2) In fact, Sunraku says that Rei's attacks HEAL Lycagon...that part really confused me. Where did that come from? And why? And if Rei's attacks heal Lycagon, why is she still attacking? Is her ultimate somehow different? Seems like the Attack Master's ultimate would be a super strong sword attack...wouldn't that have the same problem as all her other attacks if Lycagon is immune to physical damage (or even healed by it?)

Completely unrelated and speculative, just me thinking...so Sunraku and AkitsuAkane both have the vorpal bunny secret quest. Apparently it's from ANY boss battle, not just Lycagon. It also seems related to their agility-based playstyles, which makes sense as a mechanic limiting to "vorpal soul" type players. But wouldn't that imply that there should be similar secret quests for other players who meet conditions for other playstyles? Obviously not to Rabitzua, but shouldn't there be a secret quest of some different kind for players who are equally impressive in their own specialties? It would be strange game design for a game to reward only one playstyle. Shouldn't there be other secret NPC kingdoms which are based around other "soul" types?

@amf85
1) Rei was the bigger threat until Emul appeared, since Sunraku dealt way less damage.
Lycagon being made of magic probably will have high resistance against physical damage, not nullifying it (which Wethermon had in phases 1 and 2).

2) No, at the moment you are talking Lycagon is healing from Emul's attack and what Sunraku says is that Lycagon has been getting a passive heal that covered most (if not all) the damage Rei was dealing with her attacks.
Considering how much time she takes between one hit and another, justificable, she seems like one hit wonder.

Doesn't seem related to agility based characters, although I can understand were you are comming from since Wethermon fight was clearly designed to be cleared by a dexterity build and not a full fledged party or a traditional composition.
The condition to trigger this unique scenarios seems to be arbitrary, but mainly clearly to be considered a threat by the Colossi AI to a point that you are marked as a worthy foe.

That said, yes, it seems a strange game design and I've been saying it since late part of S1, this "god tier" game is unbalanced af, a few lucky people get to enjoy a completely different game with loads of broken characters and access to enhanced versions of jobs/shops the other players can't even think about and the only trigger is you being lucky, nothing to do with skill or engagement.

@CorbanEsp Well, that's what Shangri La is. It mixes real mechanics and some fantasy moves or mechanics that in terms of game design are impossible to do, but make the story more fun to watch.

One of the things I like most about Shangri La Fortier is that the author prepares things in advance before giving a solution, which makes him respect the established rules. For example, the Sanraku curse mark hasn't broken this rule so far, just like wearing armor on the body if it were another anime in ep 2 this rule would be broken by a stupid solution or the MC would awaken the most badass skills in the game and jump to level 100 in ep 1 lmao.

Damn, why are the episodes so short?

The new OP is amazing—maybe not as explosive as the previous ones, but it holds its ground and I absolutely love it. The ED also caught my attention with its retro game-style visuals.

Akane showed up at the perfect moment to save Rei! It’s funny, though—I initially thought Akane was a guy based on the fighting game she played with Sunraku. Turns out she’s a girl, and poor Rei was worried her chances with Sunraku would be ruined. Thankfully, Akane only sees Sunraku as a mentor.

Lycagon vs. Sunraku is heating up! The fight just got even more intense now that it’s revealed Lycagon is some kind of spectral beast that can only be damaged by specific attacks.

It's now 2025 and that means new cour and specifically new OP. I'm not quite digging it yet maybe because the song isn't as punchy or the animation sequence didn't stand out to me at first watch, but at the very least the ED with it's pixel art more in tune with the video game theme was better though not as stylish as the other one. We now know 2 things: that the newcomer is the same player from BERP who also shows a lot of promise in quick learning and that they are indeed going for the quest at the sea like Rust had told them about before. How successful it will be we'll have to see for ourselves.

Really enjoying the Lycagon fight. Personally, Akane is cheating in curse marks. The golden dragon only marked her head so she couldn't wear head gear, while Sunraki almost got a full body marking and could only wear a waist and head. I'm looking forward to seeing Pecilgon debriefing Sunraki about the Lycagon fight. Plus, Momo debriefing Rei over the fight also.

Rei isn't doing any damage, right?

It heavily depends on the nature of her skills which they still haven't elaborated on (dunno if it's different in the original source material) but for many games it's not exactly uncommon that various physical skills also do mental / spiritual / spell damage and vice versa. Going by the names of her skills Rei seems to play some kind of dark knight class so it's possible that at least her ultimate has some kind of "soul burn" effect that also goes after the MP of her target but I guess we'll have to see and find out.
