This is a strange show...but stays true to its promotional material. The murders and strange occurances are connected to an organization, that are made up of vampires, the core part of this show.

Not going to lie, I like the art style of this anime, at least for the backgrounds. It also has a mature setting so no nonsense humor. At this time, Gerhard and Dali stands out the most as characters. Both have mysterious backgrounds so I'm curious how much they'll develop them.

A one-month delay, and we're here...

They’ve poured a lot of money into this, it seems. From the minute the episode started we can see that this is probably the first anime in recent memory that J.C. Staff actually tried to make it look different from their usual slop they put out on a seasonal basis. This being based on a stage play, one by the person who made the Touken Ranbu ones, as well just makes it so that J.C. has to actually put some effort into something for once, both story and it seems animation wise.

As someone who's never seen nor heard of this stage play before now, it is nice to go in blind. Seems that this'll be a mystery, with not only the whole Blood Pact Council thing being something to do with vampires, and these mysterious kids as well. Guess that's where the nursey part of the title came from lol. But yeah, these kids look like a whole bunch of pieces of work. OP was really good, both visually and musically.

For a first episode, it was rather decent, nothing more, nothing less.

Touken Ranbu scriptwriter Kenichi Suemitsu's Trump stage play series that has J.C.Staff's anime to celebrate its 15th anniversary, delayed a month due to production woes (thanks and NO thanks, Aniplex)...has finally aired, bringing the final Summer show of the season to a complete start.

Miku Nakashima's OP is decent, nothing at that fanciful.

The Vlad Agency being tasked to investigate a serious of murders involving vampires and the illusive True of Vamp a.k.a TRUMP, its frontmen of Dali Delico and Gerhard Fra helms that task force, but that the former being head honcho of the group, doesn't want to accept responsibility for the case. But the Delico family of which Dali hails, it's essentially a veteran of the Blood Pact Council herading from a family of esteemed vampires, but that his duty now...is to take care of his children without his late wife Frida, who died in an accident.

With Dali taking care of his children, and the relevant members of the agency having children of their own, they clearly have more knowledge than Dali, though work comes first than family for everyone except him. The truth, however, is that none of them knows how to raise children, and head nanny Clara has to help defuse infant Ul's bawling, with Dali taking responsibility for his deceased wife's children, learning child-rearing himself from the expense of Gerhard causing her demise. Still, Gerhard wants Dali to do a balancing act with work and raising children...leaving his kids with them for an agreement to take on the serial murders mission...which the nursery will be its stage and take-off point.

It's a decent start, though what's to be seen of this original story, it remains to be seen.

Nice production but I'm not sure what to feel from this anime. The story is too weak if I'm considering it as non-otome genre, but I can't consider it as otome genre because those leading guys already have their own children.

This was among the stupidest things I've ever watched in my life. I laughed at many things that weren't supposed to be funny. That said, I was grinning the whole time, and I like the art style, so I suppose I'll give it the MST3K treatment for a while.

It's been a slow season. I have time for something so bad it's good.

Many of you seem to enjoy the art style ... I really think it's lazy CGI with a few edge detections on the background to give it a drawn look.

Don't get me wrong, it's new and different, but I still prefer it less computed and more drawn.

Story wise it made me smile and I will probably watch it in it's entirety, even if I'm not a big fan of the art style.

Big vampire fan usually but, so far at least, this isn't grabbing me at all.

Will give it a few more episodes, but not really interested in the characters, the premise or the art style -- at least not yet. Animation is janky too.

Fingers crossed it will improve, as there is very little I'm watching this season as so much of it is so mediocre.

This is my niche kinda shit and I'm so hyped for more.

Though honestly the first episode didn't feel very vampire-y, I feel like if you changed the dialogue it could just be some aristocratic military dudes and not vampires for the most part.

I’m extremely excited to see how the show goes. It’s a little on the strange side and I have to say I wasn’t really interested in anything besides the art style until we saw him with his child chasing his son around the room and I went “oh”. This is going to be the vampire version of spy x family, and I am here for it. Genuinely just can’t wait to watch these men be broken by their children, I sound horrible for saying that, but I feel that will be the main draw of this show.

I will say I do like how the characters are drawn, but the backgrounds do kind of irk me a little bit and the heavy amount of CGI usage, but I can overlook it as long as they can stick the whole childcare thing Without making them all look like shitty parents. I need character growth that’s where my heart lies. I’m also somewhat interested in the mystery going on with the progenitor vampire thing, I also think it will pair well with this weird nursery thing they’re doing.

Also on the fence…

This episode was a bit of a convoluted mess and I’m not a fan of the rushed exposition dump at the beginning. I think they could have easily drip-fed viewers info about the world over a few episodes. And while I think the premise could work, there was a lot of tonal dissonance in terms of its execution. I literally feel like I watched ten minutes of an edgy vampire mystery and then ten minutes of an otome game adaptation.

The opening scene did intrigue me, however. I’m gonna keep watching based on that alone. I’m hoping the show finds it’s footing and strikes a better balance along the way.

Ambivalent about the art but props for character design - I definitely got a sense of who everyone was pretty quickly.

@spenceshady23 I'm still on the fence about several, but this season is kind of rubbing me wrong. I'd say I have 5 I really like. It's nice to have a slow season sometimes, though, to give me time to watch older stuff. Plus, I generally expect summer seasons to be slightly off by my tastes. I'm not sure why, but summers always seem thinner to me. *shrug*

I probably am picky.

Oh, but my "good" list will get up to 6 once Yatagarasu comes off its Olympic hiatus, so maybe I'm not _too_ picky. XD

But I still have time for one accidental comedy this season.

Murdering one's wife is not something that can be forgiven.
@Mihaeroff Agreed, though when I made my partner watch it just to laugh with me at the goofy parts, I actually noticed that there was some kind of zombie-ish outbreak at the beginning, and she was killed during that. She was herself at the very end, but I'm wondering if she'd caught some sort of incurable madness that required a ton of vampires to be killed? And maybe she only barely regained her sanity for those last few words?

Not saying I expect logic or emotional continuity from this series. I'm just trying to be fair. The whole "You killed my wife but that's cool" thing may not be quite as badly written as it seemed the first time I watched it. It may not have been murder, per se.

Of course, it's still badly written, even then. The whole "on the contrary I'm grateful" thing is creepy, even if there was no other choice.

@wadsworth90 There's a difference between animation and art style. I would not say that the animation impressed me. In a couple of places it was clunky, and I don't notice things like that unless they're pretty bad.

But I like the pictures. The character designs and color palate, that sort of thing.

Blonde guy seems annoying due to constant yelling.

Apart from that, seems like an interesting show! Characters seem like they'll be fun to watch when struggling with parenting.

Dali is super chill considering his bud killed her wife! I suppose she was going to turn into "zombie" or whatever?

They said the gang will have to solve serial killings. Was that the case at the start with hordes of vampires gone feral/insane? Wonder what caused that?

There is probably a lot more to it than he killed her for sport or for shits and giggles. It seems obvious that it's something with some backstory which will only be further elaborated upon at the opportune moment or when or if it ties into the broader plot. It could have been self-defense, orders which none of them can defy, to prevent the spread of some disease among vampire-kind, etc.

@WerewolfAshen Yes and no, since the studio decided to not really draw, but model the characters and then just throw some shaders on it, I would argue that art style and animation are linked in this case.

If you look at hand drawn animation there are a bunch of artistic freedoms in them, that aren't really feasible with direct 3d models.
As an example take the impossible eye positioning in Dragonball. If you want to achieve a similar thing with 3d models, they look grotesque from most viewing angles.

And don't get me wrong, this is artistic freedom, not mistakes made by the artists, at least most of the time.

Not a lot to go off of for plot direction so far more a simple quick into.. I like the art in this but the animation isnt that good there is some places it looked kind of amateurish in movement though not outright bad.

I hope there isnt too much kids crying. I do not like hearing it.

I like the concept but everything else looks bad. I thought I liked the animation at first. But it's actually just lazy animation. Photo's that were drawn over for the backgrounds, poor CGI and simple animation. The style is fun but the execution isn't as well done. The characters are only stereotypes so far. Still, the concept is hilarious. Vampires taking care of children? Very funny. Not sure if I'm interested in the other storyline with a vampiregod or whatever. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it'll click for me.

@wadsworth90 Hmm. I feel like the point I was trying to make did not get even slightly across.

Like ... If you look at each scene as a series of stills, I would like those stills. Like, I would probably like the art in the manga.

So I'm seriously not remotely talking about the animation. I'm talking about the art style. The aesthetic. The clothes design sort of thing, and like I said before, the color palate.

Let me emphasize that I"m talking about what the mangaka did, not the animators. Does that make more sense?

I get that for some people "art" and "animation" can't be separated out in their minds, but for me, I care more about the art than how the art moves. It could literally be a series of stills, and if it was beautiful enough, I would prefer that to some animation I've seen.

In this series, to me, the animation does take away from the art a bit (and yes, I understand how hand-drawn animation works, and of course it's awesome), but I do still like the art.

I have no idea if I'm successfully communicating my intent to you, since your reply shows I failed to do so before, but ...

Yeah. Art style and animation are really totally different. The art comes from the manga. The animation is how the studio makes the manga move.

But all that aside, I completely misunderstood. I thought this was going to be a cute childcare anime, like, about vampires taking care of children... turns out it has a mystery!

And I don't know what, or why, watching this reminded me a bit of Shadows House... maybe because it looks cute but it's also a mystery. I hope it's fun until the end~

I was actually quite excited for this as it resembled aesthetic and art style of Shadows House; the whole setting and art style was good, you can make the argument about the CGI and some backgrounds being lazy, but this is J.C. Staff, I'm just glad they finally are doing something that at least looks good. Some info dump in the early parts of the episode, but I'm willing to let it slide as I liked how those simple conversations already told me the type of person Delico is. This is a promising anime. It's also a child-rearing anime, but unlike the isekai which has no plot, just being cute, this looks like it has a serious plot.

I like the characters designs as well as background art. The CGI doesn't look tacky.

I like the gothic feel and the poshness of the characters.

It's unclear though why Gerhard killed Frida and Dali is in good terms with him. It's strange. I hope we get to know why in the following episodes.
