I hear ppl have a big distaste for ECCHI genre (or fanservice in general). I remember being at MAL event and ppl were putting ECCHI as a genre to avoid, sometimes even on the forum, people don't show a big interest in it. I just can't see any reason why someone would hate this genre... So, any reasons? |

If seeing that type of thing is for you it is, if it isn't then people typically avoid it. Of all the ecchi I've seen I'd only recommend these Monogatari - Once your past S1-Nise-Neko White the story and character development really picks up. The ending and reflecting on how far all the characters have come makes it worth it. No Game No Life - It's witty enough and smart in it's own way, hoping Madhouse actually adapt more if it. Chivalry of a Failed Knight - This series was robbed of a sequel, where 95% of ecchi drags out the MC not picking or banging a girl this series had more growth in 1 anime season then most ecchi series have over their lifetimes Less recommnded but still enjoyable for me in some way 2 perverted but somewhat wholesome ecchi series are Mayo Chiki and Yamada's First Time. I grew to like the characters in Mayo Chiki and Yamada's can be somewhat relatable Trinity Seven I liked the characters but story was bland Heaven's Lost Property has the best censorship ever and only recommend watching it for the laughs (Don't watch the finale movie) Monster Musume was just outrageous for monster girls |

| Depends on how it's integrated. Oftentimes fanservice clashes with the tone of the story. There is also the objectification aspect. Most people don't like it when characters only exist to appeal to some fetish and outside of hentai, ecchi might be the genre where that's most often the case. |
| I think I've said it in another forum regarding this similar thing, and that is, I don't dislike ecchi if it's used in a more normal way. | Most of them are just cheap and tasteless fanservice. The female characters are generic, very tropey and only have assets to sell their characters. I actually like it if only it done tastefully but that's not the case. |

| Depends on the show. If a show is a dumb comedy, ecchi doesn't usually matter that much to me. If the show is purely ecchi, like Ishuzoku reviewers, then duuh... you shouldn't watch it to begin with - if you hate ecchi, so blame yourself if you do. The biggest problem for me is when a show, that takes itself very seriously, also uses ecchi. To me it's like a BS bait used by producers to attract more people - simple as that. In my eyes it always diminishes the value of the show. I mean, I feel insulted if a good show resorts to using ecchi as bait to gain some attention. Yeah, you could say ecchi is "attention w**ring" in a way. There are dozens of shows that would be amazing if not for cheep ecchi and fanservice. It contributes nothing to the plot and is a waste of time in most case. In other words, I don't hate ecchi in general, but I hate when ecchi is used as a bait to attract weebs and neets and other so called "losers" of society. |

| it's rarely incorporated in the story or themes of the anime, so it's seems so out of place and everything comes to an hold. But if done right, you get something great like Kill La Kill. |

| I won't swear off a series just because it's an ecchi, but I do believe most ecchi series would be better without fanservice. If the show has a story, then the ecchi serves as a distraction that is neither funny nor arousing (at least not to me, anyway). And if the show doesn't have a story outside of "Kyaa!! Why'd you flip my skirt, senpai?!" then chances are I won't be watching it in the first place. As for "why" I don't like ecchi in general... I'm asexual. Sorry, I guess? I have nothing wrong with a bit of sex comedy, but often I find the so-called "jokes" in ecchi/comedy series just aren't that funny. Gimme more ecchi like Panty & Stocking and JoJolion, and less like Ladies versus Butlers! and MonMusu... |

| its a little too much when thats the purpose of the entire show, its feels exploitative and i just roll my eyes i dont even get a chance to actually get myself to like the characters first and get to know them of course dont get me wrong im not against all kinds of ecchi scenes in my anime; i like when it catches me off guard somewhere in the middle of the series or near the end, maybe once or twice tops cuz yeah i will definitely enjoy and get a little rowdy when i get to see the characters i actually know and like being a little sexy u know just the ecchi imagery for the sake of being ecchi doesnt do anything for me, it feels so empty and depresonalized; first i wanna get to like these characters for who they actually are u know sort of a demisexual take |

| I don't watch ecchi usually because I just find it cheap, unfunny and boring a majority of the time. When I watch an anime without the tag and a female characters goes fanservice it feels like a disservice to the character. Yes I do watch shounen and battle shounen but I watch them for the action and mostly for the male characters. Its why I don't have many favourite female characters. Not to say I'm entirely opposed. But if the anime wants tittilation I don't want it from accidental panty shotting from a school aged/teenage girl. |

| Because most of it is tasteless and not fitting thematically or with the world that's presented in said show. No Game No Life, to give an example, is infamous for having unnecessary and copious amount of ecchi involving an 11 year old that completely ruined the show for many, myself included. I have no problem with it if enhances some aspect of the show - for example Cyberpunk Edgerunners where it enhances the dystopian scenery/atmosphere. Although, 90% of the time it's untasteful fanservice/pandering. It's equivalent to jumpscares in horror movies; Cheap. |

There are many reasons why people hate ecchi, for example: it makes female characters "sexual", it makes underage "sexual", it doesn't have good plots, full of clichés and characters with personality tropes, there are people who are repulsed by themes sexual. |

The sexualization of a character does nothing to the character's personality, it's just fanservice. Not everything is black and white where some treat it as merely an object for masturbation and others that insert themselves with the "realism and depth" of the character. |
