Yikes, getting distracted during mid-exams term is really a problem. Hiro's response to Nagi was classic tbh. She always seems motivated by goals and keeps her straight face against her 'rivals'. And that was a nice basketball shot she made this episode. |

Great episode! Seems Nagi has been distracted lately and got 13th on his test... Segawa seemed to be angry. (What a loser, no one even likes you segawa, I hope you get isekai'd by a truck entitled idiot) Looking forward to the next episode! |

i lost a couple of braincells with this episode 1) "it should have been me that would cheer you up" -> "yes it should have been, if only u werent avoiding me" 2) "can u help me study? if i dont pass the exam i will go back to my parents house" -> "do you promise? i will have the whole house to myself pog" |

Just give the damn test, instead of thinking whom to go out with. Anyways great to see his grades dropped cuz that's what you get when you simp for your little sister. Again Hiro.. like I stopped even thinking about her now. Anyways decent new Opening, but the ending an obvious downgrade to the first one. Angry_By_Default said: Wait till the end of this season or that "futuristic" second season, and I bet you won't be left with anything to lose.i lost a couple of braincells with this episode 1) "it should have been me that would cheer you up" -> "yes it should have been, if only u werent avoiding me" 2) "can u help me study? if i dont pass the exam i will go back to my parents house" -> "do you promise? i will have the whole house to myself pog" |

Of course Nagi gets distracted during the exam by thinking about who to date between his fiancée, his crush(?), and his sister. Completely understandable~ I loved seeing Erika actually stick up for him and reaffirm his self-worth. His interactions with Hiro always leave me a little confused as to why he likes her so much, and this episode was no exception... Oohh, and we also got the bombshell of Erika potentially having to move back home, I can't wait to see how that works out~ I miss the old OP and ED, but I'm sure the new ones will grow on me in time! |
I'm okay now... At least... I want to be able to say that. ✧✧✧✧✧✧ profile ✧ watching ✧ reading ✧ art credit |

The 2nd Cour of Cuckoos has begun, and more hijinks in store. sumika's OP is playful, and also with that cuckoo reference. The midterms are here again...but Nagi's too preoccupied with whatever his dad told him to "picture" his future bride, which are 3 choices: Eriko, Hiro and Sachi. The focus is lost so much that he got relegated to 13th place, much lower than what everyone anticipated, while Hiro got her usual 1st place back. Nagi...really got dejected after all that he's went through in the 1st half of putting his foot in romance rather than schoolwork, that he slowly changed. Erika will aim for the stars with Nagi despite his placement, she's a keeper for sure. A new day, and a new Nagi, ready to declare war once again to Hiro, except that...please take a hint, Nagi. Rather, a letter of challenge from Hiro to Nagi, and Erika wouldn't be far off that Nagi's results weren't the greatest and the promise not upheld as a disappointment from a rival. Instead, Hiro calling Nagi out to talk stuff with him, the latter will always feel indebted to his rival that he will love her to maintain his objective. For Erika to be chased back home if she bombs the makeup exam, Nagi has a lot on his hands... |

Now thats a damm creative opening along with a catchy song. Ah mid terms what a time to return to school to find. Looks like Erika hasn't prepared at all. Man the distraction sure cost Nagi dearly with his rankings. Still the look that Hiro gave him was one that reflected her concern for him. Indeed the insight into what happens if his foundation becomes unstable was nice to see. Erika's attempt to calm Nagi worked marvelously. In a way the betrayal angle does make a lot of sense. Overall a nice return to the series after the brief break after the 1st cour finished that did well to showcase the many changes that the main leads are experiencing as a result of their bonding in the first cour with Erika and Hiro being the highlight. In curious whether Sachi had any changes to her as well. |

Not really a fan of the new ED or OP maybe they’ll grow on me. Felt really bad for Hiro today. Despite the early mixed signals it’s clear she’s got feelings for Nagi and was pretty jealous of the fact Erika cheered him up instead of her. I continue to think she and Nagi are the best ship as they have an organic chemistry and she gives Nagi something to strive towards. All their moments together feel so natural. Luckily, looks like Nagi has a renewed determination to get with her Also, she hoops. Easy winner |

We're finally back ☕ Damn, Nagi-kun really dropped to 13th place. I was really shocked about that when I saw that, but then again, he was thinking bout the girls and not really focusing on the test, so you can say that it was deserved. Segawa-san was really let down from Nagi-kun, and I'm glad to see that they built up that relationship at the end. Seeing where they both will be going will be interesting... Ah, and now with Amano-san being told that shes out if she doesn't do good on the test, Nagi-kun needs to work even harder to help her. With what just happened with Segawa-kun, I'm interested to see what will happen next as well... 👀 The new ending is alright, but the old one was much better IMO, you can say that it was the reason why lots were hooked on into the show. |

Shion is hilarious, I love that dude. He’s just so ridiculous, like an anime Jean Ralphio lol. For someone whose whole identity is studying, 13th place is a big blow. Though I appreciate Erika trying to cheer Nagi up in her own way. Those two have pretty good chemistry, no wonder he’s confused about his feelings for her. Hiro might need to really step up her game and go on the offensive if she doesn’t want to lose to Erika. |

This show now is giving me the opposite effect of Rent-A-Girlfriend: where in the latter I liked the heroines and despised the protagonist, in the former I really like the MC but the heroines are kinda lackluster, specially this episode. |

So we got a new OP and ED for the second cour. Both of them will take some time to get use to. Nagi bombed on his mid terms because he couldn't stop thinking about his potential harem. This caused him to fall to 13th place while Segawa took 1st place again. Nagi got all depressed about so Erika decided to cheer him up which worked wonders for him. However Segawa gets jealous when she realizes that Erika and Nagi are a lot more closer than she thought. She might have found out that they are living under the same roof. |

They replaced the great OP with a fucking atrocious one, and the banger ED with an average wholesome one. Will almost certainly be skipping them both from now on. The soundtrack was surprisingly powerful during the basketball scene though, but it looks like Hiro has basically conceded defeat to Erika already. |

I like this New OP better than the first or I’m just glad that this show is close to over but I really don’t care for the new ED. Ehhh same old situation I feel like this one was worse for some reason but I’ll still watch it just because I’m too stubborn to stop anything even if I hate it. |

Bruuuuh what!? Did Hiro just waste a PLATINUM chance to get closer to Nagi, in his 'worst' moment, by avoiding him a whole day? And this was Nagi's same mistake in earlier episodes xD She's constantly pushing Nagi away, this is like the 3rd or 4th time already. Nagi doesn't deserve such treatment, he had enough by being a harem MC. Erika is just kind of there so far. From time to time she seems interested but she's mostly living her own world. This 'urgent' studying session won't be any exception, I can sense Sachi will also get involved. Oh boy... This second half may be quite a challenge after all. |

This show gets harder to watch every week. Nagi is now dealing with lower test scores and the typical harem plot, I feel Erika was using Nagi as a punching bag again (though she had some bright spots), and Segawa avoiding Nagi because he scored so low kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Sachi was the only decent part of the episode, and I don't even like her. Not to mention, the OP/ED aren't as good. I haven't read it, but I've heard the manga is taking the KanoKari route right now by dragging it along unnecessarily. Anyway, Erika best girl lol |

The new OP and ED are decent. Too man flashbacks this episode. I would say this was the weakest episode till now, the only kinda good thing was Hiro's speech at the end there and Ericka saying Nagi is valuable to her. Failry enjoyable episode though. Hoping that the next episode is better. |

Kept this to the side in a mini-player just big enough to read the subtitles while I did other stuff; the episode looked to be mostly focused around Segawa so I thought nothing spicy was gonna happen. But I can still give you a quick summary of the episode even though I was only half paying attention to it: Chad-kun places 13th place because he's horny, then Segawa acts all distant for some reason only to tell him later that she should've cheered him up after he placed so low. And that makes chad-kun even more madly in love with the board of wood that is Segawa for some reason and gives him a burst of motivation to get first place next time. Ah yes I love true love... can't date me unless you get a better test score than me UwU!!!! Still waiting for gigachad Nagi-kun to have a threesome with Erika and Sachi so I can slap a big fat 10/10 on this sh*t |

Is it me or did this series just got on a new level? Everything about the love polygon was wayyyy too sleepy until Episode 10. And after the Harem element was visible in Episode 12, the story became so good and funny all of a sudden. i enjoyed through Episode 13 like an infant would watching cartoons. That 21 mins went by quickly fr. The Studio (idk which studio's creating Couple of Cuckoos) took a week break and started 2nd cour with a blast |

Glad to have this back for its second cour in Summer 2022, this was a nice episode to come back to. It moved things forward while also kind of acting like a recap with how Nagi was reflecting over past events. I’ll say I really loved that moment when Erika made Nagi realize he’s worth more than his grades, that’s the exact thing he needed to hear and it immediately cheered him up. Segawa’s situation was kinda tough to watch, as a Segawa fan lol. I didn’t like the fact that she was avoiding him for a bit there, I’m really glad she came around by the end of the episode, that was a great moment between her and Nagi playing basketball, but I think she needed to get to Nagi sooner instead of waiting a day to help him, I get she was disappointed too but Erika is definitely winning more points this way and it didn’t look good on Segawa sadly. I’m still team Segawa tho! And wow I really liked the new OP and ED, especially the ED. I think for the OP I prefer the first one for now but I gotta give this one room to grow before I make a definite pick. All the visuals were nice too, makes me excited for what’s to come! |

Late post but I feel like Sachi moving in had the most impact on his grades failing. Erika didn't really interact with him before she moved in. Now if Erika has been hungry for 2 hours why tf didn't she go out or make food herself? Then Erika makes the situation about herself?? So if Nagi is worthless if he can't cook, what does that make Erika? Idk this whole episode was stupid. If he would've focused on the test and wasn't obsessing about who he likes the most this entire situation wouldn't have happened. Like I said 2 weeks ago, Hiro is using Nagi to keep herself motivated. She probably won't develop feelings for him. Also why is Hiro upset about not being the one to cheer Nagi up when she immediately frowned when she saw him and completely avoided him? How is that supposed to cheer someone up? |

The new music and the animation for episode 13 are big steps backward. Did they get a new animation team? A different production studio? And where is the slapstick comedy that drove the first season/cour?! This episode was a big disappointment. I'm not looking forward to the next. |

Erika is totally dependent on Nagi. She doesn't know how to cook or even really do shopping on her own. So she makes him do all the chores around the house. That's why his grades are falling, and why she didn't step in to check on Nagi until it interfered with HER life. As for Hiro, she probably felt disappointed because it seemed like Nagi wasn't trying his hardest in spite of all his big talk, which, after asking him to change her destiny, must sting since it's basically like saying he doesn't care about their promise and all his fancy words weren't really serious. Then she saw he was down, so she went to go cheer him up the next day, by playing basketball together so they could talk about what was going on. But Erika had already cheered him up by that point. |

I don't think they said who initiated the basketball game but regardless, if Hiro keeps her standards that only a guy that beats her is worthy of her then I don't see that working out. That's also why I said it will be interesting if Hiro changes her attitude/outlook if Nagi ends up helping Erika study which will probably mean him sacrificing beating Hiro. |

And also, I think you've misunderstood Hiro's entire position in regards to Nagi. Nagi isn't proving himself "worthy" of her, that's not why they have the "beat me 10 times" condition. The point is that Hiro sees Nagi accomplishing that goal as impossible, just like breaking her free of her engagement is impossible. If Nagi can prove her wrong and do it anyway, then that can give her hope to believe she's not fated to an engagement she doesn't want, and give her the courage begin dating someone she actually wants to be with (Nagi). Hiro has shown multiple times that she likes spending time with Nagi regardless of his grades, because she enjoys his company; if his grades were the only thing that mattered to her she probably would have cut him off right here because he was showing her he wasn't serious. Instead, she makes the first move with her letter because she cares about Nagi for Nagi, and as his rival wants him to do his best. |

Now, I'll agree that Erika hasn't treated Nagi with as much respect as she should, but I think Erika's realizing over time that Nagi may actually be a good guy to be with, and she's trusting him to help her with studying so she doesn't have to move back with parents, so I believe Erika will be nicer to Nagi and maybe learn to cook (ok so she'll probably just order Uber Eats or something lol). |

I liked it because the episode shows that Nagi lost focus because he kept thinking about the women in his life and that's why his grades went down and that made Segawa sad and she sees that Erika made Nagi better and that makes her sadder but the Nagi decides to recover and restarts his studies |

But to make things more complicated, Hiro overheard Nagi and Erika's conversation in the library and she knows they live together now, I'm surprised Hiro didn't mention that when they were talking playing basketball. Lastly, I think Nagi will help Erika with her studies but that may come at a sacrifice to his goal of being first again. Not sure if Hiro will say anything about Nagi not having to beat her if she sees him helping Erika, we'll see! 👍 Hiro doesn't know they live together? Also, just because Hiro can't date Nagi unless he beats her, that doesn't mean she doesn't like him for who he is. Otherwise she wouldn't be enjoying his company so much on their activities together, and she wouldn't have bothered to try cheering him up playing basketball. Meanwhile, in spite of Erika's words she doesn't really treat Nagi with much respect. I thought it was implied that they're living together when Nagi told Erika that the reason she was sleepy was because she's always on her phone at night, but that could be taken that they could be chatting at night phone to phone in separate homes now that I think more about it. Who actually instigated the basketball game is irrelevant. She left a note in his locker to meet her at the basketball court, for the purpose of cheering him up. Not sure if I completely buy that Hiro likes Nagi regardless of his grades, why did she ignore him when he was down then? Perhaps Hiro wanted to talk to Nagi after realizing if she doesn't do anything he may not chase her anymore since Hiro now knows that Erika and him are closer than she probably realized. She didn't "ignore" him. She looked down and then left. That's not really "ignoring", Nagi took her sadness and disappointment in a negative way with nothing to suggest those were the basis of her feelings. As we saw, she was going to go to the study group like normal the next morning, but left when she heard Erika, so we know she wasn't really ignoring him. That's why she left a letter for him to read, so they could discuss things in private. Everything else was all in Nagi's head. Meanwhile, Erika literally said to his face that he's worthless if he can't cook (for her). |

Seems it's just going in circles now that he's back to more studying because that's how he'll win Segawa. |

He should let Amano fail. He wanted to be alone in the house to study anyway. Hiro wanted to be the one to cheer him up? She kept showing him her back and walking away. |

The anime twisted what the manga did. In the manga, she left the note in his locker first thing in the morning, then ran into him and saw he was feeling better. They talk and then he immediately finds the not. The only time before that she "turned her back and walked away" was immediately after he got his test back, because she was just as sad and hurt as he was, as she explained. Then she planned to cheer him up the next day, but Erika had already gotten there first. The anime added a bunch of extra content to make it look like she was actually avoiding him, including the library scene which never happened. |
