^ THIS

Couldn't have said it better.

Dunno where the ideology comes from that people who enjoy anime are somehow always socially inept sub humans or something like the O.P. is implying ?

Same, it's just a hobby as long it's in moderation.

In terms of hobbies: The definition of “normal” changes a lot.

Anime is growing in popularity and acceptance

So perhaps one day being an otaku would be considered as “normal” as being a gamer.

In terms of humanity: what the heck is a “normal” person. Everyone’s unique, there’s just social expectancies that some people ignore

If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Watch more movies, please.

Don't know about normal, but I do require more social skills which is quite important even for the field I am in.

What is a normal person? Someone who has a 9-5, settles, has a few kids...and watches netflix with his spouse?

the title is kind of offensive. "normal" people stick to their comfort zones. i'd rather be different.

I was already an unambitious, no-life loser by the time I started watching anime in my early 20s, so I don't see how quitting it would improve my life in any way. I'm the one who has long-unresolved issues; it's not anime's fault that I won't do something about it.

I guess by the word "normal" you mean someone who would be more serious and committed in his life and he fulfills his responsibilities instead of wasting much time on watching anime and using escapism strategies to run away from his reality, honestly Yes I thought about that so much and everyday because you will never be satisfied about yourself if you live carelessly with feeling of shame cuz you don't bear any responsibility
Think about it if you watch excessively, what if all the time i spend on watching anime i spend it on learning and developing myself instead

Watching anime is a super common thing nowadays. It's normal to watch it so you're still a normal person for doing so and even if you have seen a lot you can still live a normal life. Also dude you're not that far off from normie lol.

Watching anime doesn't make you any less normal of a person, you probably just lack self-discipline in regards to moderation, management and possibly, priority in life.

Quitting anime wont give you a normal life lol

Only you get to decide what type of a life is "normal" for you based on the goals you want to accomplish in it. Living your "normal" life to the fullest isn't about partying all day and night, it's about perusing the things that give your life meaning. Unless anime is taking your entire day and ruining your health, which I highly doubt it is, you don't need to quit watching anime to do what you need to do to enrich your life.

I've never thought about it. I suppose that in the future i will watch less or nothing (because the age or responsibilities perhaps). Currently i watch less than before because i've just started working, but in my free time i try to watch my favorites animes (especially SOL because i want to relax).

Sorry to burst some bubbles, but watching anime doesn't make you different or special. Anime is just a form of entertainment. Watching TV shows, watching movies, reading, playing sports, etc. are just hobbies. Even participating in a forum is just a pass-time. Every hobby has its weird people (the ones who think their special for participating in that hobby) but the reality is you are not different. Just enjoy your hobby and don't be a fucking weirdo about it.

What do you consider a "normal" life? I have friends and people I talk to who both share do not share my enjoyment of anime. I have a family who has no interest in anime, but I am still as close to them as any other average family. I'm planning to get a job that has nothing to do with anime. Despite all this, I will always continue to watch and buy anime content most likely for the rest of life. This is normal for me.

You're only young, prioritize these things

1. Get a job, this is most important lol
2. Stable income to support yourself
3. Your own living space
4. Learn to deal with the societal pressure (aka, this normal life you speak of), accept your situation or work to better it.

Then you can do whatever the hell you want.

You are ignoring the fact that many have already been functional members of society.

I don't think having a hobby that is now somewhat common and accepted is not normal. Anyone can be social and etc. regardless of their hobby.
You sound in your post like someone who watched thousands of anime and ceased being "normal" because of it. It is overly exaggerated after seeing your profile to be honest. Don't take it as an offense please.
