Well I have to say, this was what I had expected..with the colorful cast making their presence well known from this episode. Seems very guy has a diverse personality. I'm not surprised one of them is the playboy type.

At least the show has a lot of energy? Lol.

As a big fan of the Hypmic franchise I aimed very low at the anime however I was looking forward to seeing how they would adapt it, and how they would introduce the characters and if it was going to be similar to the drama tracks or the manga series, and it seems this episode didnt focus too much on the original source material - However! It was a pretty good first episode for hypmic; they basically just introduced all the divisions and very lightly showed off the different personalities! Hoping that the rest of it will focus more on the actual story!

The ending theme was also so good, I love how they gave buster bros a song with a more mature feeling!

Me too! This premiere is so dope. I'm a bit anxious rap part is CG but executed well. OP/ED songs are awesome as same as original. Can't wait for rest of new songs. I was very glad I'm a big fan of this project!!

Been waiting for this anime series to come out for months now! Finally it’s October and I wasn’t disappointed with the 1st episode. This anime and plot seem like they have a lot of potential and not to mention the guys are so cute too ^^

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle - Rhyme Anima...you've got my musical NUT attention. But also what I'd expected of the music genre going berserk, and the various ikemen divisions going ham in a world ruled by women. Least expected A-1 Pictures to helm this, but what a showcase.

Of course, what better way to fight than to exemplify rap battles, and I can't believe my ears that the songs are downright good.

Guessing for the premiere episode to give everyone a chance to showcase their various nooks and crannies, playing it safe is the best choice.

Another "colour me surprised" show that will appeal to HypMic fans of the above-average adaptation.

Such a hectic introduction. 4 groups already announced with their own eccentricsm. The rap music definitely full blown out my mind already there. I don't know if the Japanese lang could be so mixed up in a well music like that. Well, this is my new experience, so lets see how far its give me a satisfaction. As the first impression, i guess this is just fine to me, without even reaching the story elements. Because, somehow, i came here for not seeing a wise story telling. So, yeah, thats it. More rap battle, please!

I'm not into any multimedia project but when I heard that there's a fujoshi-oriented game that surpass Touken Ranbu it's really interest me.

Now that I watch the first episode... Wow! The world is lead by women, fujoshi to be specific, and the plan to replace all existing weapons with mic should be applied in the real world too!

I'm gonna guess, their clothes will rip off if major teams battle against each other???

Now I see why this will succeed in the anime area where Touken Ranbu lack despite getting a support from Ufotable.

Also, I read some doujinshi and look like my favorite character is not appear yet?

I only know this series from seeing all the fanart/cosplay on twitter so I'm excited to see where this will go. I've never seen Funimation put a black screen TV-MA warning before a show, and the subs sure said fuck a lot.
Overall the animation, character design, and flashy colors look great so this could be a fun watch this season

I'm a long time Hypnosis Mic fan and I was a little afraid on how the anime will be handled. Like how Persona 5 anime kinda disappointed me as a long time persona fan. Though, I ended up being pleasantly surprised by how well the episode was handled. We get a snippet of the groups and the guy's personalities. The CGI threw me off a little but it wasn't bad. Animation was mostly good and loved how well the guys look in the anime. The music was great and liked the feel of it depending on the group. I don't have much complaints so far and I'm looking forward to the next episode!

I've been into HypMic since 2018 and I waited so long for this anime. I'm not disappointed at all!! Yeah, the animation/artstyle and especially the CGI could have been better, but it was still fun to watch, the raps are much better than the manga raps, the new songs are fun, and the most important: MY MAD TRIGGER CREW IS KICKING ASS RIGHT IN THE FIRST EPISODE!!!!!! I love my boys so much!! The cigarette kiss scene between Samatoki and Jyuto made my day, and both Jyuto and Samatoki panicking bc of Rio "threatening" them with his food was so funny!!

I want the next episode already!!

Damn, this anime was a surprise. Lots of thoughts about it too, but I want to praise one thing: The music. Goddamn the music. In just 24 minutes I have heard so many styles of Rap music, and almost every 3 minutes there was a fire beat I absolutely vibed to. I might just watch this anime for the music alone. The rest was okay.

i also love how all the groups are dealing with serious business except fling posse, who are just hangin'.

pretty aight so far, though i'm really gonna get to get used to that cgi

I expected more from the animation since the studio is A-1 Pictures (they look great in close frames tho). Also, the lives would look a way better without CGI (I hate CGI). However, I like the fact that they use the lyrics in the rap in the same way they do on yt.

Anyway, I like the anime and I'm looking forward to having some fun with it.

P.S. I love them and the songs *crying for love*

This is the first time I heard Japanese rap. A whole new music genre for me and my ears.
Japanese flows nice but I prefer pop.

The characters were really well drawn in a shoujo style. A lot of detailed highlights, and shadows on the hair. Nice scenery. A-1 Pictures did a nice job with the animation. Maybe this anime will be the underrated gem of this season.

ok at first I thought this was gonna be some guys vs girls thing that was gonna get twitter's panties in a twist, but wow was not expecting epic rap battles the anime.

In fairness though, this is definitely one of the most visually creative shows in quite a while lol, during those rap scenes. As for the rapping itself, never was a fan of rap in general (cause a lot of them don't have nice flow imo) and it's no surprise I wasn't exactly too amused with these raps, but oh wellz

1st thing, i rarely watch male only anime, and much less i watch this type of stuff

that being said, the synopsis sound interesting so i decided to try it... while i think the songs are pretty bad, i also thought the story was hilarious, so i'll probably keep watching

but...since this will turn into a contest or whatever, i fear that 1 of the things i found fun (them stopping crimes and all that random stuff on the streets) will not be present in the future

I spent 5 month saying that this will be garbage since first episode, but the reality is that it wasn't that bad! The animation was meh and the dialogue was ok (it's A-1 pictures what did I expect) but the songs are pretty good! And one thing I liked was that they did introduce all the important characters in just 1 episode and they didn't waste 7 episodes introducing each division.

At first I do not expect more of this anime but after I watched it, it changed my mind, it feels like I'm watching an old school rap battle with a little bit of modern, something like that. The flow, the rhythm, the bars and the lyricism its all here. Though the animation makes me cringe.

This episode was everything that I could ever dream of. When the anime was first annouced I was really sceptical, since we all know how these types of adaptations often end up. Even when visuals, trailers and the preview were realeased I was still cautious with my enthusiasm to not get disappoited. But this? This didn't disappoint me in any way.

The opening was a great mix between their normal rap and an anime-ish music. The animation was really good, waaaay beyond what I was expecting from it. The CGI was not only really well done and impressive, it also fitted well with everything else. The story for the episode was, in my opinion, a good choice, since it introduced all the divisions and each character pretty well, displaying their relatioships with each other, as well as their own quirks. (Although this is coming from a fan of the series, so I don't know how well it introduces the characters and the world to someone who had no prior experience with the series). All the rap done in this episode were completely new, and they didn't disappoint, showcasing the style of each division pretty well. Even the background music was really good. And lastly, the ending, which, again, had a completely new song, even though I was expecting them to just use thei old ones, was superb.

Overall, this was the best first episode I have ever seen, and it made me really hyped for the rest of the series. I'm hoping they will keep up this quality until the very end.

(And now a bit of fangirling)
It's so amazing to finally see my boys move, they're all fantastic and I love them all so much! Especially Fling Posse with Ramuda! They're so cute! Best division!

The concept seems cool even if that all women rules now and people fight with mics is weird as shit and the fujoshit chara design really annoys me butthe rapping itself was okay, overall it has potential but that first episode was annoying but i might start to like it after a couple eps...

Honestly, this was a decent first episode.

I've known about HypMic since the franchise started but I never gotten into it. I always expect anime of pre-existing franchises to suck because they know their fans will watch regardless, but this feels like they did manage to put some effort into it. Even as an anime only I'm still going to stick around.

The raps were pretty cool (not that I enjoy that genre of music) and I'm interested to see where the story goes.

You know what, that's not as bad as it could've been. I've seen little of manga and a few Drama CD's, and from what I know of them there's not much in the name of an overarching storyline, it is mostly amusing interactions of the cast and side-stories focusing on a certain division. So whatever they animate will probably be original material. Though it is entirely possible the mobile game's special events and its short campaign had plot & world building which I simply didn't know about due to language barrier. In either case I'm not holding my breath for anything of the sort, just some intense moments in presumably the upcoming tournament arc, and decent music will do for me.

Now on to the specifics:

  • lol, one of the political parties just straight up stages a coup d'état, takes away citizens' right to bear arms (+ knives) and everyone's like "aight"
  • First time I saw CGI on OP, not sure how I feel about that.
  • Ah, Buster Bros's dialogue is as cringe worthy as I remember.
  • The songs are... not horrible I guess? I dunno why most in this thread seem to be gushing about it. They're definitely not comparable to their actual songs from the records label.
  • I thought Hifumi only switched from playboy to gynophobe after he changed his jacket. Are we breaking the lore here hmmm?
  • So Chuuoku's scheming to make the former members of Dirty Dawg fight each other so that they don't rile up against the common enemy, that being them? I don't think any of them have anti-government sentiments, they'd just rather be left alone lol.

@auron_

if you pay attention in the ep, you can see doppo removed hifumi's jacket, hence why hifumi became terrified.

also, there is an overarching story in the manga/drama cds, it comes more in tidbits, and becomes more clear when start listening to more and more of the cds, but there is one.

a fair amount of them have anti-government sentiments, especially ichiro and samatoki. they just... haven't done much about it directly.

just hoping to clear some things up and hopefully make it less confusing ^^

I mean, the animation and CGI was really really good, they could've made great anime with it, but instead they just go off and make something like this. I don't know how to rate this, I'm just gonna give it a:

6/10 so far, I don't know anymore...
