| Just wondering if you guys watch, say, an anime rated like 950? or over 1000? Does the negative reviews and placement put you off from ever watching it? I must say, it does for me. I tend not to watch anything over 500, spare a few. I'm same with movies as well, like if a film is rated 20 percent on rotten tomatoes and like 30% on metacritic and like 3.9/10 on IMDB. I'd never watch something like that. Are you guys the same, & if not, why do you watch anime ranked so low? |

| Sometimes I will watch low rated anime out of morbid curiosity. Two of my top five are ranked below #1000. The average rating for an anime has some correlation with what chance there is that I will like it, but I gave Akira a 5 and YnS2 a 10 so it is far from absolute. |

| Most of anything in the top 25 is great, but there is stuff in the 1000-2000 range that are still good too. I don't really take MAL ratings into account when it comes to stuff like harems and ecchi because they are all rated really low no matter what. I don't watch anything that's ranked below a 7 though. Typically, if it's not in my normal preferred genres and ranked 1000<, I will probably stay away from it unless it interests me in some way. |

| Sadly it doesn't really apply to me as much as it use to anymore since I watch new airing shows before they even get a "proper" rating. Though if I go back to a already completed show, I generally don't bother with TV series if it's less than 6.5. Unless it has decent ecchi scenes. Lol. Anything under 6 is pretty much means bad on MAL. So called "ranking" doesn't matter to me at all. |

Popularity is pretty low though, but I doubt anyone really judges something on popularity. |

| All the time. The rank of an anime on MAL is inflated by largely pointless things such as length, being a sequel and being flashy. I look at characters/synopsis before ending on an anime, and somethings things that appeal to me just happen to be rated lower. |
