| Do you tend to like poetic dialogue in anime or do you find most uses of poetic dialogue to be cheesy? The most recent example is Shigatsu kimi no uso and a buttfuck ton of other Shoujo. I tend to find poetic dialogue in a modern setting to be cheesy, but I do find poetic dialogue in older/ancient settings to be tolerable What are some anime examples of good poetic dialogue and just completely shit dialogue? |

| I think that poetic dialogue often feels completely unecessary and misplaced in a lot of anime, especially shounen or shoujo ones. I do like poetic dialogue (or monologue) in ancient settings as well, it's kinda something I think we see fit, because yeah, a lot of poetic things come from the ancient times. I think an anime revolving around that theme even in modern setting could be tolerable if it does it right. Good poetic dialogue.. currently, I can't think of any xD But I know tons of shit dialogue that feels so fake. A lot of these love speeches "Uuuh, you were the love of my life bla bla" you often find in shoujo are so horrible to watch. |

| it depends, some poetry kinda gets lost in the translation :( so i might not get them, even worse they might have some cultural references embedded in them , then I'D BE FORCED TO GOOGLE THE DAMN THING TO UNDERSTAND IT!!!! but sometimes its just fluent and easy to understand , even though it might carry some metaphors in it ... The extreme case is, when its JUST FORCED AND OVERUSED with no reason behind it, then i just kinda overlook it if the meaning behind it is NOT too ambiguous !!! |

| It depends, sometimes it is sometimes it isn't... I don't think there's a general rule, I always accept them, be it in shounens or in horror. It's just that it's either a hit or a miss. |
