THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Everyone feels the King's presence at the palace. Well, I thought this episode was alright. Ah Pouf and his little plans...
I don't trust the guy at all obviously because of his hidden intentions to kill Komugi.

Ouch, Knuckles and Meleron has an unfortunate meeting with the King. Quite an interesting choice of OST this episode though.

What, Meruem just knocked them out within few seconds AND came back with them to castle like its nothing...OP much?
I don't think it's a good idea to leave Komugi alone in the room like this. That rotten fairy will think of something for sure.To be honest i tought he transformed into Ikalgo at first, but it looks like i was wrong.Wonder what will happen now...also, looks like Gon has small body again.
I feel like things are getting wrapped up.Don't know why tho, since 2/3 royal guards and Meruem are still alive, but anyways.Great episode as always.

Great episode. Loved the explanation why Meruem hadn't asked Pouf or Yupi about what they hide from him. No Gon this ep, i really want to see how he ended up. 4/5

Yupi's nosebleed at the preview, wonder why even though i want it to be because he found the messed up Pitou.

Yeah, he didn't even give up against Youpi when the odds were stacked against him. King OP, needs nerf plz. What the hell is up with Youpi in the preview? I can't see how the hunters will get out of this but I hope the king remembers and gets back all of his character development. Say what you want about Pouf but he's definitely a good antagonist and strategist. Lol, Gon kept his hair. I can't wait for next episode.

Pouf and Youpi's reactions when he told them if I win u'll tell me what ur hiding was friggin hilarious XD

Nxt week should be lots and lots of fun hehe ^^ Dat Youpi O_O and probably after it will be the most emotional ep ever. Can't wait >.<

Hahaha Oh shit you found a plot hole!!!

Btw a good episode, not as good as the previous but obviously it couldn't be or shouldn't be. When I saw Ikalgo I thought it was Pouf trasnformed so every minute he was driving the car I was like "Now he kills her... No.... Now he kills her..... No". Meruem's aura O.O

Great episode (as usual) can't wait for next week.

I'm hoping once the anime catches up to the manga it goes on hiatus for a while instead of 1.) giving the series an awful ending (like claymore) 2.) Finishing the anime or 3.) have lots of bad / mediocre fillers. I heard the latest chapter had a lot of writing in it, hopefully that continues so it takes longer before the anime catches up.

Maybe Hisoka, he was so desperate to fight someone strong and he missed out on this whole arc LOL

They'll probably just drop a few bombs on the palace
Imo Netero>Chrollo>Hisoka. Yeah Hisoka is badass as hell but i don't think he would stand a chance vs King Meruem.

I think the only thing that they can do to possibly defeat the King is show Komugi.

But they are doing what Pouf and Youpi wants. So it is ideal for them. Can't wait when we see a closure to the King part, and deal more with Gon's siide.

It's so amusing to see anime-only viewers commenting on the episode. I feel like I'm in the future lolol.

Honestly, the episode dragged on too much though. Maybe it's because I already know what happens but still, nothing really major happened except Meruem showing off how OP he is.

I really loved this episode, even if not much took place. In traditional HunterxHunter fashion, last week’s massive, epic episode was followed up with this slower, quitter one, that’s great in its own right. The pace was really relaxed, and most of the episode was just the King and the Royal Guards talking, which was fine by me because their dynamic is fascinating. Meruem especially is interesting to watch, because he’s now a subtle mixture of Meruem before he met Komugi and the Meruem after. He’s harsh, brutal, and has no problem with the thought of eating humans, and yet shows a modicum of mercy towards both the Royal Guards and his enemies.

Two things here stuck out to me. First was that little scene with Knuckle and Meleoron, when they were discussing running away. Knuckle’s utter hopelessness and fear was striking, especially after how fearlessly he fought Youpi. This scene is superb, though, because of the contrast between Knuckle (the human) and Meleoron (the Ant). Earlier in the invasion, Knuckle almost ran away with Shoot, after the latter had been injured, but stopped in order to avenge his friend. At the time, the right, rational thing to do would have been to retreat; for the sake of his duty, which was the defeat of the Ants, that’s what he should have done. Knuckle, however, for the sake of revenge, stubbornly attacked the enemy once again, out of a very human desire. Now, though, he’s doing what he should do; retreat and call for help. It’s his duty.

Guess who wants to stay anyways and try to get at the King, out of a desire for vengeance. Meleoron, of course, as the narrator points out. It’s the classic switch Togashi has been doing throughout the whole arc. Knuckle, the human, is doing an Ant-like thing by prioritizing his duty above all else, while Meleoron, the Ant, is doing the human thing by wishing to stay so he can enact his revenge, which was to get at the King for killing Peggy. It’s subtle and clever.

Another equally subtle and brilliant moment was when the King gave his own proposal to Pouf: if they win, he grants them each a wish; if he wins, they tell him what they’re hiding from him. Basically, he will grant them their desires if they emerge victorious; if they lose, though, they confront their worst fears, telling the King about Komugi. It’s a psychological tactic, one very familiar….

I quote Meruem from episode 105:
"Fear and desire hold the power to disrupt one's rhythm. Desire clouds one's vision, while fear stills one's step."

It’s the same thing he did with Komugi! It harkens back to his board games with Komugi, his “contests” with her. And isn’t this a contest where the memory of Komugi is at stake? More so, it shows that the King has retained much of what he learned during the board games against Komugi, subconsciously. It’s affecting his behavior without him realizing it.

Finally, after seeing the King this episode, I really hope the kind-of-unlikely theory of the King acquiring radiation poisoning is true, just so Netero’s final sacrifice can have SOME worth to it; as it stands now, he died in vain. I don’t quite like that idea.

In any case, great episode! Looking forward to what happens next!

The anime was keeping with his current character design.

You can't really see his legs/tentacles in this page: http://z.mhcdn.net/store/manga/44/28-309.0/compressed/p309.0.13.jpg?v=11274452755

So, we can infer that his other tentacles were really pushing the pedals.

Far fetched to say this was a 5/5

Let's just say Episode 131's epicness will stretch on the next episodes to conplete them and give them 5/5 HxH is just too good

Edit: and even then, there's still at least 3-4 more amazing moments to come in the anime so the next episodes will deserve 5/5 anyways

I seriously think every episode deserves a 5/5 because I feel the content is structured and paced perfectly with each episode. In any case, you can't really expect there to be super exciting stuff going on in every single episode anyway.

Ugh, I miss Pitou already. ;_;

I haven't read the manga yet 'caz the anime's still ongoing but i think the pace is good, I'm talking about the whole series, not too slow like One Piece because they pay alot of money for animation with such a quality, and it's not too fast at a level you don't enjoy. the pace is perfect, no complaining.
