I'm going to turn 20 in about a month and it's not so much that I'm depressed about getting older, I just feel like I should have accomplished a hell of a lot more by now.

I AM HAPPY TO BE WHO I AM. AGE DOES NOT DEFINE WHO YOU ARE. BE HAPPY INSTEAD BEING DEPRESSING ABOUT BEING YOUNG. BECAUSE 20 IS YOUR PRIME.

I'm 22 and already have heart problems that could end up killing me in a month.

I think I'm allowed to be depressed about my age.

I had open heart surgery at the age of 17. Everyone has problems. Live your life instead of being depressed, occupy your time to weed out the sadness. If your life is shortened, make your last days happier, don't dwell on it. Life is life!! DON'T WASTE SOMETHING PRECIOUS!

What if the only thing that makes me feel better is wallowing in my despair?

Nope. Never. 20 now. Tis fine. Never felt any different with every birthday that comes around, I'm sure changes happen gradually without me noticing, but I just don't mind about aging. It happens.

The user above me clearly is an idiot. "Live your life instead of being depressed, occupy your time to weed out the sadness. If your life is shortened, make your last days happier, don't dwell on it. Life is life!! DON'T WASTE SOMETHING PRECIOUS!" ---> "Do what makes you happy."

It is his own decision to do what he wants.

Uhm... seriously?? That's like saying, "hey, I'm able to console someone over the internet with his depression problems because I told him to do something like hanging out with friends" instead of actually being there physically. Your "advice" sucks, you go on to talk about yourself having no friends and family, uhm ok? serious?? some guy said I'm depressed and u r liek LOL I HAS NO FIRENDSZZ N FUMILY BUT I GIB U ADVISE BkUZ Me so k00l online, disrega3rd good advise and list3n 2 me bkuz I sed LOL UHMMMM SERIOUSLY? O_O_O_O_O???

No where in my post did I even go close to saying "yeah it is okay to kill yourself buddy, go right ahead". I simply said if he wants to be left alone to mope around, then let him do so, some people actually do need some personal time to recollect themselves, you know?

Again, I think people who are depressed over their age are stupid.

I've known a guy who died at the age of only fifteen! you people don't even realize how lucky you are. You're being ridiculous, stop being upset about your age and be happy that you're still alive and breathing!

I'm just gonna come out and admit that I lied about this entire scenario just for the hell of it. I'm eighteen and have a healthy heart. It's summer, so I'm in no way depressed.

This does bring up an interesting question, though. Should we allow people to kill themselves if that's really what they desire? Most people agree that we should let people be as they want to be, but when it comes to suicide, they automatically want to intervene. Do we decide to let the person in question own their life entirely, or do we selfishly prevent their death?

This. I'm 21, never had a job, haven't gone to college, and I'm just now learning how to drive. I have reasons for it, but it still sucks.

I suppose I feel depressed now. 21 but I feel unexperienced and tied down for my age. I tell myself that good things come to those who wait and work for what they want, to finish school, and such, but I lose more and more patience every month, it seems.

It's pretty depressing when I'm in my teens or adolecenses.
I usually hate aging and I find it bullshit.
But It's life and I try not complain about it, since it's already set out.

I'm not too ecstatic when my birthday comes around, because I always like to be known as "really young". (Such an example is when I told my classmates that I was going to be 17 instead of 18 when I graduate from high school and they flipped out.)
Yet, I will still be thought of as 12 instead of 15 when it's November.

Growing older does not mean much besides physically.
Depression for age can be a down side if you were all like social and out going person.
But if you were more of a home person without any bother caring, age just another thing not to care since death can come anytime.

My age, no. I'm depressed I'm surounded by people whom are my age, though.

people don't seem to realize, my generation at the age of 16-17 is expected to take the weight of the earth and all it's problems and solve them.

Yet we rather talk about lebron james..

Think you've got it tough? Think about the guys who go to work every day for hours just to get mauled by a bear on the way home, now that's tough :(
But 16/17 was a fun age, " time to think about going to college / uni, or else :@"

I never wanted to grow up and I still think I'm not ready for it and I'm 17 already. I feel a bit uncomfortable reminding that I couldn't imagine becoming that old when I was a kid. I want to be around 10 years old again. I didnt care about anything and just enjoyed life...

I'm nearly 30 and while it's a bit strange to think about it's mainly because I don't feel 30. I feel a lot more mature then I did when I was say 15 but I still get mistaken for a high school student all the time. Plus it seemed everyone I knew in HS who where in their 20s at the time told me how old they felt and how much their body hurt now, but uh I feel much better then I did in high school and have much less body pain now then I did then.

I'm only 18 but I did start feeling abit older when one day I realized shit like "Fuck, I need a job =O". Got a Job now and learning to drive so that's cool, and being able to buy games and stuff with my own money is gratifying, but being able to be a complete prat and getting away with it because of your age is something I'm always going to miss =P.

I can relate to that. I remember being 9-years-old when watching Pokemon and thinking "Damn! I'm too young to be a Pokemon trainer." Ash should be like, what, in his 20's now? Haha. I also remember viewing the characters from Evangelion as "Big Kids."

Yeah, yeah, and those millions of kids in Africa doesn't even get to live to 15 due to famine and war.

Anyways, I'm so bad with memory on these sort of things I have to actually think for a while on how old I am. So yeah, any extra feelings about age? Uh, nope. It's one of many things where I couldn't really give a damn about. The only thing that I am caring about at the moment is whether I get 900 bucks of a sad excuse called scholarship for my next year in university.

Old age, believe me, is a good and pleasant thing. It is true you are gently shouldered off the stage, but then you are given such a comfortable front stall as spectator.

I don't mind being older now(25), age isn't anything but a stupid number. However, I did share in some of the anxiety when I was younger about life, what I was going to do etc...

Now that I am at this point in my life, it isn't all that bad.

I'm 14 turning 15 soon. I actually don't wanna xD
Because I'm always the oldest in my friend group and the shortest.
People mistake me for 12 haha.

There's advantages for being older than you look.

But do not worry!
I'm sure you're depress because your bored!
(or maybe not...)

Yeah from time to time....because everyone says i don't look my age at all...I'm 15, but everyone thinks I look like a child that could pass for someone in grade 7 or younger...apparently O_O. I don't believe this is true, but I'm serious that all my friends think I'm really small and child-like...though i don't really act like it ^-^'', so i can't tie my hair up or wear dresses without my friends saying i look cute and small. One of my friends think i have a disease where I look the same age even though im growing...i get jokes from time to time about me getting kidnapped if im by myself, because im also bad at reading maps and directions. I wouldn't say depressed...just sad at times. (Just a day ago during summer school I was taking math 20 pure and someone asked if i was in grade nine...)

I'm 20...almost 21. I miss being a kid, no responsabilities, lots of imagination, no depression, no stress, only games and fun.

Now, like everybody else, I will have to work hard, have a family, raise kids, you know...adult life and stuff. It's kinda depressing sometimes.
