I'm curious to know what everybody's favorite (or if you want, best) scene in anime (or manga) is if you have one. There are definitely plenty of excellent scenes, and it might be difficult to pick just one for some people, but for those of you who feel like sharing, I encorage to post some. I also suggest using the following format, when posting a scene, in order not to spoil some people. |

ladyxzeus said: My favourite scene... That's a hard choice, because I really have some really memorable ones. So I got to pick two. May I pick two? They are tied. Rose of Versailles, anime, somewhere around the second "part" Oscar roaming around the city in despair, then falling in the arms of Fersen. There she breaks down and starts bawing for André <3 Ai no Kusabi, second OVA Last Black Moon Damn, I even feel tears at this moment just of remembering these two. I really love them. ;) I would like to edit this post and add some more scenes. The rest of you inspired me to post more. My other favourites from anime Rose of Versailles "And we fought a brave General at the bridge. After his horse was killed he kept fighting and his eyes, his eyes seemed to cry." Sailor Moon (Dead Moon Circus Arc) "Because all I wanted was a friend, to share my dreams with..." "Don't worry princess, you can sleep now. You are surrounded by friends." The first time in my life I realized a villain could be... Innocent. Sailor Moon (Star Lights Arc) The very final scene. It was extremelly EPIC for me, because it was the first time I saw nudity on tv. Also the original OP theme and Bunny Tsukino speaking softly - who watched the Portuguese dub knows how rare this was - completely make me hold my heart and believe that Sailor Moon was truly the warrior of love and justice and that, with her, I could make my dreams come true. And stuff And now my favourite scenes from MANGA. As I've not read a lot of manga I may have a lot of scenes that seem insignificant, but the truth is that I hold such memories very dear because feelings you have while reading are on a different scale. And I can remind them. Sailor Moon When Chibi Usa/Small Lady meets Helios at the Dream Forest Fake When you read 7 volumes of BoysLove and all you get are snapshots of forced, sudden, quick kisses, when a true kissing scene appears... It makes your heart go faster. The last scene of this manga - except for the extra chapter - the most deep kiss I ever witnessed. A really small square, at a corner of the page, and the rest of it the illuminated New York. Truly beautiful. Gerard and Jacques When the boy first arrives home and discovers the library. The sexual toy and slave is now free to READ. I cried liters with such a simple scene And I think that's it. I have many other memorable scenes, but if I posted them all I would never leave here and that's not the objective. My ultimate two favourites are those I quoted, but the rest are also things that I really love and that really touched me and still touch me. I suppose that it's easy to define my character just by looking at my favourite scenes. =p On any case, I hope they touched the other viewers/readers as much as they touched me. ^^ |

Anime: The final scene of Mushishi's 20th episode Tanyuu and Ginko having a chat Manga: Chapter 132 of Yokohama Kaidashi KikouThis pretty much encapsulates what I love about YKK. The author has this talent for taking facts of life and capturing its essence within a few pages. |

Neon Genesis Evangelion This is a tough one, being my favorite series it is difficult for me to point out one single scene, but I'll shoot any way. Kaworu Nagisa's death scene, sure you could argue the episode as a whole is rushed, and I would be inclined to agree that he should have been introduced earlier in the series. But, when Eva unit 01 is holding him in it's hand with Beethoven's 9th playing the entire time is still one of the most intense moments I've seen in anime. End of Evangelion I think as a whole EOE is the best anime movie experience I've ever had and as such it is difficult for me to decide which particular scene. The obvious one would be Asuka's fight with the other Eva units, which I agree not because it's probably one of the single best fights I've seen in anime, but because of the very depressed and possibly suicidal Asuka's realization of how much she wants to live and her subsequent brutal defiance of the inevitable Maison Ikkoku Taken from one of my posts in the Maison Ikkoku fanclub One of my favorite scenes is used as my profile pic, the scene where Godai claims that he has given up on Kyoko. The look on her face in my pic says it all. I can't remember the exact words, but the scene right after Godai finally breaks things off with Kozue and she asks him what the woman he loves is like he think on the subway something along the lines of "She's selfish and gets jealous easily, but I love her anyway." Anyone who knows the line exactly help me out. Also the any and all of the graveyard scenes are incredibly well written, directed, and acted. |

Thanks, Yuunagi, and everybody for contribution. @ ladyxzeus Yes, you can post as many scenes as you want. I just wanted to reminisce over the great scenes that I knew of and maybe to see what to look forward to in anime/manga that I haven't seen/read yet.exceptional scenes in them. Here is my original post. whitew123 said: Here is probably my favorite scene in anime: Legend of the Galactic Heroes, around episode 54 (does not spoil much, but it does tell you who is alive at that point in the series) The meeting of Yang Wenli and Reinhard. I was waiting for that moment to happen since the beginning of LoGH, and when it finally did, I was extremely happy and satisfied. That whole scene was beautifully done, and my emotions were heavily overwhelming me. This meeting was pretty much what I wanted it to be. I'm not sure if it was in that scene, but I loved Reinhard's line: (pretty big spoiler, I suggest you not to open this one if you haven't seen the series up until this episode) "If Kircheis was alive, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now" - or something along those lines. I do indeed wonder how everything would have turned out if he didn't die that sudden death. The "If I was born in the Empire, I would have loved to have you as a Keiser" line by Yang Wenli was also great. As for my favorite manga scene, I believe this one impressed me the most. Vinland Saga major spoilers which might ruin everything for you, chapter 52. http://www.1000manga.com/Vinland_Saga/52/12/ up until the end of the chapter. Let me emphasize again that there are extremely heavy spoilers, and if I were you I would click the link only if you had read this manga until that chapter. I also believe this scene hits you a lot more after reading about 10 chapters before that moment. Basically, after that scene I added Askeladd to my favorite characters list. |

Anime Difficult question. Probably the one scene that both immediately stuck and retains its beauty after successive viewing: Spice and Wolf, episode 1: The very beginning. Copy-pasting from the spotlight on that series: "A sensory description accompanied by fields of gold swaying as the west wind moves. A reference to a Pommeranian legend so obscure even most Germans and Poles will have never heard of it, and well-used to boot. A depiction of change, of progress and of its accompanying alteration of people's perception. All in a preamble spoken in a soft voice. How could this not turn out to be brilliant?" What I continue to find striking is how this one scene in one go manages to invoke an entire setting, a sense of progress and change, and a slight longing for what once was, by which latter point much of the character of Holo is explained. For some reason, I find that I react strongly to such simple depictions of time and change. Runner-up #1: Simoun, episode 14, second half: Wapourif loses his faith. (2:50 to 3:50 (actually, 1:15 to 3:50, but that's rather long)) Strongly believing in the sanctity of the simoun and their sibyllae, Wapourif cannot allow himself to love Morinas. Opening the simoun and finding that it is only a machine, he can now consummate his love, but at the cost of all he believed in. The real impact of this scene, however, becomes only apparent from the scene directly following it: Dominura, who by her word did not believe the simoun to be anything but a machine sees something else entirely. What it is she sees becomes never apparent, meaning that what Wapourif saw was perhaps but an illusion. Thereby, the scene turns into a lesson on the nature of faith and the influence of one’s desires, making it all the more bitter. Runner-up #2: Sora no Woto (of all things...), episode 12, at around 10:00: Aisha to Noël: 'Deshalb vergeb' ich dir, auch wenn dir sonst niemand vergeben sollte.' ('Therefore, I forgive you, even if no-one else would.') I admit being a sucker for these kinds of lines and that I moreover felt that it was more or less a summary of the mood the show tried to convey. However, the reason why it immediately became a favourite is this: the line was never translated. As far as I know, Aisha's lines weren't provided with a translation and those viewers who did not understand German (most, I guess) had to guess what she was saying up until the point an in-show interpreter came along. When the above line was said, however, said interpreter herself bursts out in tears and the audience had to make a guess based on the other characters' reactions. To my view, this adds immensely to its beauty. Manga Easier by far. YKK, chapter 71, pages 84-88: On the mountain path. As to the 'why', I find I can't explain it but by using what everyone says about this manga: the sheer gentleness of the presentation of a quietly mysterious present infused with a bittersweet longing for a lost past. |

Oh wow, I'm sure there are a boatload of them, but the only one I can think of right now is the scene in cowboy bebop, in the episode ballad of fallen angels, specifically when the song green bird comes on and spike is falling out the window and the viewer is allowed to take a trip down his memory lane. Anime Death Note The final speech between L and Light after getting soaked in the rain. Haibane Renmei Simple words "Help Me" from Reki at episode 13 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQARjlIPgYA&feature=related at 1:30 Seto no Hanayome At the end of episode 8. Maybe I'll give it a go soon lol. Unless you want a run-of-the-mill action series I really wouldn't bother. It was made all too generic with the changes, the dialogue is almost painful and the male protagonist is the most annoying thing since the Crazy Frog. I only posted the clip to show that more recent series can still be rather brutal, but unfortunately the violence is the only thing it has going for it. |

Well, I have to agree with Paprika's opening. It's the best opening I've ever seen! And I think it is a scene, but it's more of a side story than integral to the movie's plot. It did make Paprika (the character, and by her I don't also mean Chiba Atsuko) very appealing, though. ;p |

I would like to add some scenes, just because I have to go study and don't feel like it. :3 Texhnolyze Very last episode, last credits Everything is dead, but he still sees a mirage on his arm. I had recently watched Donny Darco and the whole theory of "everyone dies alone" was thrown away at that exact moment. Those seconds were worth the whole series for me Monster Somewhere around the middle... The episode where Tenma is in a forest and meets a man, protector of the forest. Little birds are around and over Tenma, sitting on him. Neon Genesis Evangelion Very last episode The Fly me to the Moon tune appears with lyrics at the very end of the confusion. I understood everything on that moment Full Metal Alchemist Last episode? Before last? Opening the door. I understood life on that moment. But I forgot it already Wolf's Rain Among many other scenes, the OVA Where everyone progressively dies and nothing else is left on the world And finally, for today xD... Fruits Basket Hatori's episode All of it, really, but especially when he associates his old fiancée to Tohru. After winter, it becomes spring I notice that most of my favourite scenes are resumed to a sentence, to a frame, to something very simple. But those moments make whole series worth for me, and remembering them makes my day happier. =) |

Hey. We're doing this? Ok :) I guess i could find loads from all my favourite shows, but i'll just pick the very top. Code Geass episode 23 of the first season. My favourite death scene in any media. The cuts between Euphie caring for the japanese people and the japanese people cursing her is just... HNNNNNNNNNG! And coupled with a pretty good song. Last ep of Haruhi (fucked up order) The kiss. Speeches that fix everything rarely works, but i like this one cause there's no real logic in it. Everything is controlled by Haruhis emotions, so doing something emotional is what changes her mind. And of course the abrupt cutaway. It's so pleasantly jarring. Shakugan no Shana. First season. Last ep. Tenpa Jousai. And her confession. And Yuujis reaction. Just visuals and soundeffects and a simple sentence. It creates a great atmosphere. I probably like this a lot because of nostalgia though. It also would have been more fun if they had actually died. More fun scenewise. Not overall storywise. And while i'm on that, one too from Shakugan no Shana II. I think ep 23. Or 24. When Yoshida disappears. Well, she doesn't actually disappear, but when i saw that the first time my heart skipped a beat. Here too it would have been more fun if she actually died, but the second before we know she doesn't is still what it is. Now that i think about it there was also that scene in ep 3 of Angel Beats. If you've seen it you should know. But that might be getting into 'not the very top'-territory. That show actually had a bunch of good scenes. Too bad it was hard to care about the plot. |

Cowboy Bebop Episode 24. Ed leaving. 'Nuff said. And of course, the finale. Monster In episode 71, when Grimmer tries to defend the people hiding in the hotel, without succumbing to "The Magnificent Steiner" inside of him. In the end, he sacrifices his life in the process, but manages to take down the gunmen without losing control. In his last moments, he realises how The Magnificent Steiner must have ended: he becomes human again. I'm sure I have more, but these ones are just what springs to mind. |

Ooh. I just recalled one. From Ghost Hunt ep 20 This is the third episode of The Bloodstained Labyrinth. The previous episode ends with Mai's vision of being led through the secret passages to the sacrificing room. The scene i want to put forth is the very first one in episode 20. Mai wakes up from the dream and screams. It is such an intense scream, and it's the very first thing that happens in the episode. If you watch these episodes directly after each other, it's just. So. Emotional. It has been way too long since i watched Ghost Hunt. |

In light of the new spotlight I have just remembered a scene from Paprika that was nothing short of mind-blowing when I first saw it: When the Chief is in the middle of a perfectly normal sentence, and then gradually slips into complete nonsense without skipping a beat. The way that scene was directed was beyond perfect. And as it goes on, he gradually gets more and more deranged, leaving you with a sort of "Wait, what's going on?" kind of feeling, and then the parade music kicks in, he jumps out the window, and everything just falls into place, and you realise he's been attacked with the DC Mini. |

Oh hell yes, Satoshi Kon's direction throughout the entire film is superb. I also love the very last sequence where Konakawa goes to the cinema and says "One adult, please." then very suddenly the films ends, the credits start rolling and 'The Girl in Byakkoya' starts playing. No fade out, no final shot of the city, it just ends then and there. Sends a wonderful shiver down my spine every time. Really the entire film is just one fantastic, memorable sequence. |

Sounds like a neat discussion; I think I'll join in! The Vision of EscaFlowne: Van's Insanity This scene was when Van took out EscaFlowne and began to madly hack away at Dilandau's soldiers until he finally moved towards Dilandau. This fit of insanity leads to EscaFlowne itself being completely consumed by darkness and Van dies, getting transported to a mental world akin to limbo. This was probably the first scene where the audience saw Dilandau genuinely frightened, and it was awesome. Everything was just so high-energy and the representation of Van's mentality at that point was just shocking. Psalms of Planets Eureka seveN: Eureka's Monologue The scene is of Eureka when she first begins to merge with the Scubs again and she enters a series of settings which mirror her feelings. The first is where she enters a library in search of "her book" and when she finds it on a shelf she realizes that each of its pages are completely blank. She notes that the book represents herself as a 'blank slate'. The scene quickly changes to her falling downwards through the air talking about how she's melting away and wishing for someone to pull her out of her circumstances. Renton then steps in and takes her out of the Scubs just before she becomes totally submerged inside. This scene really defined Eureka in terms of her character I thought; and I loved the metaphor of the book with blank pages in relation to her life. 'Lovely scene. Wolf's Rain: Darcia's Sorrow This is the scene soon after Jagara had stormed inside Darcia's Keep, brutally pinned his assistant by the hands to a door using wooden stakes and officially killed Homuna during her sleep. When Darcia takes the assistant girl down and quickly runs to Homuna's room, the girl explains the situation and at first he acts eerily calm. He doesn't seem to feel a hint of sadness and remains hopeful that because of his wolf's eye, he'll see Homuna in Paradise whenever he likes. He takes her body and dances around with it for a short while until putting her back on the bed; it is at this time where he releases a thunderous, painful yell and beats his head repeatedly against a metal pipe nearby until he bleeds. He falls to the floor with tears streaming down his eyes and he continues to yell. This is pretty much what made me love Darcia: up until this point, his character gave off a very different vibe. Something that was so calm and collected changed to this in an instant. Xam'd: Lost Memories: Furuichi's Decision This is soon after Furuichi's battle with Akiyuki ends. Furuichi escapes from a military truck and on the way there he stops by a local shop to buy some drinks. He insists that he's buying three drinks for him, Akiyuki, and Haru; however his trait of thought is interrupted when soldiers surround him with guns aimed at him. He performs a short monologue to himself talking about how much of a monster he is (in a completely calming voice) and as he mentions this 'monster' part about him, his Xam'd arm forms, clings to his forehead and ingests it quickly and completely. Furuichi, now decapitated, sways a little bit and falls to the ground, dead. Technically I pretty much loved any scene with Furuichi, but this was the most surprising and unexpected scene in Xam'd for me. Its what made it start to really stand out to me, and also really made me consider Furuichi's character: why would he choose to do this? And why was he so calm about it? An unexpected, tragic yet amazing scene. |

This is a pretty recent watch: Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann Pretty much sums up how ludicrously big this show is. Kamina will forever be immortalized with the way he thinks and acts. |

Psycho-Pass With Shogo Makishima holding Akane' friend hostage and slits her throat while Akane tries to shoot him but the trigger locks as his Crim Coefficient constantly lowers on its own. That whole scene bloody terrified me. |

Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki. The scene when Hana, Ame and Yuki are all running and rolling around in the snow together. Fantastic animation, fantastic music, fantastic atmosphere. |

One of the more recent scenes I've watched that impressed me is from Aria the Origination episode 9. My favorite and most emotional rewarding moment of the entire series. After the long tour Alicia and Athena arrive at the Hill of Hope where Pairs are usually promoted to Singles. With everyone waiting there Athena requests a last song. Alicia starts to sing beautifully and then explains how she always loved singing. Athena then proceeds to promote her not once but twice. From a Pair to a Prima. |

Double post but whatever. From Big O, episode 13, when Rodger first meets Gordon Rosewater, approaching him about a string of murder victims. Gordon quickly changes the subject to his tomatoes... But as he talks about them, it rapidly becomes apparent that he's using the tomatoes as a metaphor for his cloning experiments. |
