I thought this had a goofy look at first, mostly related to some of the monster designs. However, at seeing the actual episode, it has a classic fantasy feel related to its world setting and fiction.

Nothing too special but Haga is someone to keep an eye on on his development. He and Nikola seem to get along well so far although their relationship feels a bit plain now. Nikola seems like a kind person he get can get along with easily.

Believe me, the Another World part has been played so much, but mangaka Masamichi Sato's series really doesn't give you that feel, aside from being a stereotypical fantasy show with a unique premise and loads of intensity.

NACHERRY's ED is rather nice!

The village girl Nikola was just living her everyday life, until they are met by hoimoidragons hell bent on destruction, and a dwarf-looking man saved her out of the stampede, only to get traumatized by the ground shaking intensely. Said MC of Haga wanting to observe the hoimoidragons up close...because it affects the world, somehow?

The continent of Felnarc, where Nikola resides in a village in a part fo the kingdom, people suspect that Haga may be a part of the King's Seekers, the elite group who's investigating the incidents all around the conintent. And his days of logs of abnormal incidents is witessed by Nikola, who cooks him a meal as thanks for saving her the other day, confirming that he's a Seeker. But an instance of an arriving dragon and Haga not wanting Nikola to die by his hands, this is for real.

Once again, the hoimoidragon comes to attack Nikola's village, though as scared as he is, he's armed with not just dragons, but explosives as well. And be it that his attacks are rather dull, it lasted day and night, though not without Nikola rallying her villagepeople for help to defeat the rather odd-looking dragon. As much as Nikola is relieved that Haga's safe and wants to help him out, the suddenness of Nikola and the villagers set on fire, it's all part of a story...

...revealing that everything was a game, and Nikola and the villagers were NPCs in said game that Haga could not debug. It's essentially the SAO storyline where Haga and his colleagues could not log out and had to settle their lives in-game, with Haga being the only surviving one left out of the group. Likewise, Nikola being able to survive the event and reaching Haga, how would he deal with her as a potential bug?

I can foresee how this show could be a sleeper hit, it's really best to go in blind and not expect much. Hope it will surprise you.

Think of the Greed Island arc from HxH, but instead of just the arc, it's the entire show. That's this show in a nutshell.

In a remote southern region of the continent of Felnarc lies Clayborne Island, comprised of five small countries constantly embroiled in conflict. In the farthest reaches of the tiniest and most tranquil nation, the Kingdom of Bayle, resides a humble village where a girl named Nikola leads a simple life. One day, while gathering firewood—a routine task—a colossal dragon, typically confined to the deep mountains, suddenly appears before her. Just as it prepares to unleash havoc upon the village, a man named Haga arrives on the scene. Haga, a member of the King's Seekers, a clandestine investigative unit, intervenes just in time.

At first this did seem like your typical sol journey and that Haga would invite Nikola to said journey and they would research all type of things, all the while Nikola learned about the outside world. But for all of that to be struck down by that plot twist of this whole thing being a game... I knew this wasn't the original world, it's in the title after all, didn't expect it to be a game though. Anyways, really digging the artstlye of this. Specifically the scene where Haga is crying about him not being able to bring Nikola while shes on fire. Whole flashback does lead to me to question what happened to his friends that came with him.

Somehow, someway, Nikola survived the flames that engulfed her whole body... what shall lead to, is the question.

Really intresting premise that I can see leading to be a dark horse of the season.

Well, that was different and disturbing.

Not much of a fully cozy experience, the mysteries become its main hook instead and the story tension is already mounting high.

Need to keep an eye on this series for sure.

What a pleasant surprise the first episode was. Pacing was perfect, characters well acted and not overreacting. Animation style is a bit different but for some reason it's giving me that classic adventure feeling. I really have nothing bad to say about except it was far too short. I wanted more.

I'm satisfied by the animation quality. But more importantly, I'm satisfied by Haga's muscle. This anime is up there right along with other muscular fantasy protagonists in this season including Shinmai Ossan and Parry Everything.

The animation quality was not the best but this was actually better than I thought. Liked the idea of having the series follow Nikola's perspective first and seeing a proper fantasy story there with her growing to like Haga the adventurer and wanting to travel by his side after he saved their village, only for her and everyone in the village to still perish and reveal that they were bugs that could not be debugged and that Haga's been stuck there for a year SAO-style. I wish the title of the series was different, especially with the English title featuring 'Another World' since it would have been even more effective of a twist that way but sadly, so many shows have got to feature that. With Nikola somehow showing up with surviving despite what happened, it creates some mystery there too that seems intriguing.

It was a slower episode but the intentional approach made it somewhat effective with what happened by the end with the twist. If only the anime looked better. Regardless, I'm not sold on this being great just yet but the premise has potential and I hope the series can live up to it and not fall into boring cliches and become something very forgettable as a story after a few episodes. This was a decent premiere for a change though, something I have not said that about with many premieres this season so far.

a power point production + a soulless main cast hmmm
story idea sounds interesting tho

but well what to expect from studio Palette
all their anime are hardcore low budget power point productions with nice drawn chars and scenery

lets see where this goes

btw did they come up with the dragon design by asking AI? xD
it looked sooo disturbing and not something human minds would come up with
that dragon thicc almost bursting egg inside mouth vagene with 3 inside mouth with tiny black dot eyes around the lips
and then that 2 body lol and all of them looking like 1:1 clones with almost exploding eyes

I hadn't planned on watching this show so as a dub watcher I was a bit frustrated to see it got one of the very very rare CR simudub tokens allocated to it....

but actually having tried it I did enjoy it, so I guess I would rather that token be given to this show than some absolute trash which this doesn't seem to be.

nice twist at the end which explained Haga's withdrawn demeanour, keen to see where this goes.

Was a bit confused about Nikola, she has mature VA and mannerisms, but seems to be the height of a kid even compared to the other villagers lol maybe just short I guess?

Solid 7/10 premier for me, look forward to watching more!

That was an interesting twist, but I liked it.

Sent into the game to report bugs, but become trapped inside without a way to out.

These NPCs are really well made for the game.

I am looking forward to the next episode.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This went basically as expected after I created that thread topic the other day querying about its "video game" tag on this sub-forum, and a few users responded, after which I started to figure it would be something resembling this.

But after actually having watched the episode today (just a few minutes ago, in fact), I can say that the closest anime it reminds me of, that I've seen anyway, is
from 2020. There are some maybe even closer in premise from among seasonals I've watched the past few years, like also playing a VR video game from the comfort and safety of an ostensibly normal world back home and even dealing with glitches and bugs and the and the main character's awareness and use of them to his advantage (Shangri-La Frontier) or the many where someone was trapped, possibly permanently in a video game after their death and they're isekai'd into it or some other magic (In the Land of Leadale, She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, other larger more popular titles I haven't personally seen but know the basics of what they're about such as Sword Art Online, Overlord, etc.)

But for some reason it evokes the feeling most of
from 2020, probably because of the main character dynamics of duo of more clued-in outsider older muscly guy and scrappy naive idealist young girl.

Now, I haven't watched Dungeon no Naka no Hito yet, but I'll be interested to see which episode one I enjoy more and take more of value away from.

intriguing. Actual fantasy. Maybe a bit like dungeon meshi in style? I like the premise, and the animation and style is nice. I like how it's not 'generic isekai' fantasy although maybe it is a bit 'generic' but in a good way. Kinda rare you see western-rpg style bard singing in anime. It happened a bit in Helck and Faraway Paladin and a few other shows though.
I dont know.

  • So, the correct title is "QA for a VR game that is out of control". It's a variation of SAO.
  • As the illogical development has been approved in the first episode, anything would be approved from now on. It's a bad sign.

LOOOL

"Dragon"

Shows giant Frogs (looks kinda like Venasaur without flower...)

.

Also... I had my suspicions when I saw [Bandai] appear at the very start of episode...

I was like, WTF, is this based on a game...

Turn out... the anime's world is the one that's based on a game... yup, another "trapped in game" scenario, LOL.

(feels like this is going to be turned into a toy and video game line...) (hopefully the anime won't just be a "promo"... which usually ends up in a bad shape toward the end of the season)

.

So... the girl's the NPC and the dude's the "player" hmmm...

And the dude's been sending info to the real world. (does it even work? when you're trapped in the game...)

Cause the dude's been doing debugging on a Story Event where all NPCs dies. (multiple times)

But why? why do you need to debug this?

Especially since the game auto-kills everyone after the event... this means it's scripted for Players to fail this event no matter what... so you there just to make sure everyone dies? if so... what was the point in fighting the Frog? why are you there? Are you meant to die too? do you get respawned back like the NPCs, cause "Multiple times"... If it's scripted, just stand by and watch the event unfold, then record if anyone survived as a bug. There's no need to try fighting... purely pointless and a waste of time.

Plus... it's been a year... is the game still in debug mode? are we sure they aren't in a whole different game world? meaning sending all those "reports" are purely pointless as no one receives it anyways.

.

And the most important part... why is the dude surprised the girl came back? if he said he's been through "multiple times" meaning the village restores back, only to get killed again.

And what make that "the last time"... isn't it on a loop? does the dude have admin powers to stop the game events?

.

Also, judging by the "flashback"... the "players" can use "debug" mode to fly around and such... this was after the other girl players said they felt weird and revealed they were stuck in the game. but their player powers remained...

meaning... why was the dude even there at the beginning in the bush in the first place? when he could literally be flying up in the air to observe the event...

.

I am going crazy in finding plotholes in this series, LOL.

Haga is a lefty, huh. You don't see that very often. The art style is unique.

So this world is VR game, where our protagonist has been reincarnated/isekai'd into it as a debugger on the game dev team. The typical stuck in a VR game set-up. Not exactly revolutionary or ground-breaking, but looks interesting enough to follow.

I'm glad Nikola didn't "die". That would have been heart-breaking.

Looking forward to seeing how Naga escapes the VR game world, or if he's stuck there forever.

Kinda meh, but also kinda intriguing.

Not a fan of the very dry humor. I understand it's a big part for the bait & switch and make the big moment more dramatic and impactful, but still feels very half assed.

I am though invested in the once again, SAO, hack//SIGN world gimmick and see where it goes. This episode also set the benchmark for what to expect regarding the actions scenes, along with monster designs so I'll keep my overall expectations very low.

Weird characters designs.
Faces looks awfully drawn.
Dragons are toads...
and the lists goes on...
A weird series indeed.
Those were my first impressions.
Despite those things, the story was actually solid. Nikola has a solid VA.
Still, the art is bad imo.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Well, I was not expecting a Zombieland Saga... But I also cannot say I'm not a fan of that, "entry". As I very much am.

So we'll see where this goes. It may carry itself on story alone.
Or dissolve into a puddle of slice of life adventure.

If the production value is as consistent as its initial showing.
Then I see no reason not to focus on its story.

They certainly placed a lot of faith into the only part that wasn't controlled by them. As no inconsistent adaption. Means they're immersing us into the world.

Guess we'll see if that world can measure up.

I got tricked into watching a Video Game Anime!

But I got to say, it might not be completly awful. The whole story of Haga and his friends being stuck after getting hired as bug testers has potential for a good mystery and the characters are likeable.

Let's see if it develops a good story, to distinguish itself from the many generic fantasy world shows which fail to do so.

It's got a nice unique art style to it and I loved the OST with the hint of Celtic music. From the title I'd assumed he was QA'ing creations by a god or something, but being a dude stuck in a video game cataloguing bugs is far less interesting to me as a concept. The twist with the NPC girl reviving after dying constantly at least kind of saved it. That's definitely got me curious about the next episode.
