They gave the pair of Shiori and Yuuta alot of screen time to be together this episode. That invitation sounded more like a date invite if you ask me.

Tbh, I kinda like their chemistry as it felt somewhat natural. Still, it's obvious the main focus still remains between him and Saki. Her announcement about 'only 6 months left to live' is surprising. Seems this episode gave time for him to reevaluate his feelings.

An alright episode, gave a bit more focus towards Yuta and Shiori, his colleague that works with him in the bookstore and getting to see a movie together. She even got to meet Yuta's sister later on in the episode when she wanted to get a study guide. The episode itself felt pretty damn slow but wasn't that boring for me either so I can work with that (for the time being), does really remind me of the initial pacing in the books too. There was more focus on showcasing the movie than I expected but they did it well here, does look somewhat interesting to watch for a passtime I will say. Not much to actually talk about in the episode but the platonic chemistry with Yuta and Shiori in this instance was solid enough. Yuta being associated with another woman and even going out to a movie with her might test Saki's feelings just a tad though, even if they are really trying their best to be normal step-siblings. This episode felt like a very small step in setting up Saki's feelings a bit.

Senpai definitely has some feelings for the main the i wonder if she will express them, while the main and her seem close there also seems to be a bit of distance between them.
The there is also some distance between him and Saki for instance the are still calling each other by family name even tho Saki's family name has already changed.
It also seems like Saki was on to something with the senpai but i guess we will have to wait and see if she does anything with that information.

Late movie night was nice. Very wholesome interaction between Yuta and Shiori. But I really hoped this relation stayed platonic. But looks like Shiori has feelings for her kouhai of all the things a vending machine now interapting people. Yuta so far seems oblivious and Shiori will may not act on it (dk why). She is such a fun and sweet character as well, already feeling bad for her. But can't win against WINCEST.

I love how every single episode has at least one scene that makes me want to rewatch it over and over again: the whole 2nd half of ep 3, last episode's lo-fi, and this time the boy and the girl playing the violin in the movie. Very rarely a seasonal anime made me feel like this, even the ones I rated higher.

A family breakfast on a Saturday, though Saki's working hard on her studies.

Shiori and Yuta's late-night movie "date" together is sweet with the usual working banter that the two have going for them, watching an acclaimed work that is adapted into a movie, they surely had fun, though Shiori really played into her character quite well, with the affinity of the confession...not quite working out for her, leaving Yuta kind of dazed. And it's that same symbolism of the anthropomorphic canine kid and the cat-eared girl that has that relationship going for them, not the same way as Shiori and Yuta fumbling at what they wanted to say.

The next day, Saki questions Yuta if they're dating, though it's just the interest of books that keep them together, and the former wanting to read books enough to frequent his workplace, coincidentally also meeting Shiori for the first time to get study guides and the like. And though their interactions are brief, there's still the semblance of uneasiness.

Yuta, better think carefully about your relationship with Saki...in the face of Shiori.

That first half felt like a slow and slightly convoluted way to introduce a love triangle.
The senpai and stepsister feelings, and silent rivalry, are a bit more clear in the last few minutes of the episode.

I wonder if we'll get more of that in the following weeks, or if this episode intended to show us that the mc will never really see his senpai as a love interest.

I just knew that Saki was going to ask Yuta if he was dating Shiori, haha. Honestly the movie watching did feel like a date and for a second there I thought Shiori was going to confess when they were next to the vending machine but instead she acted out a scene from the movie.

Btw, I'm not sure what Shiori meant when she said that Saki might be the real deal, like girlfriend material? If so, I wonder if she's trying to ship them because I thought maybe she also liked Yuta.

For those who don't understand, Shiori was testing Asamura in that scene, her friends always took her jokes seriously because of her yamato nadeshiko appearance, even on blind dates, they could never understand her. But Asamura answered Shiori's statement with a joke, he really understood her, only Asamura can understand her and she was very relieved with his answer, when she wanted to take the first step in their relationship, she was cockblocked by a vending machine lol. After that in her car, Shiori feels guilty after testing Asamura, she felt she didn't deserve him

I wonder what Shiori really wants to say to Yuuta. I don't know what Shiori meant, but her expression looked uneasy. And hopefully next episode Shiori will appear again.

Well, another good episode, an interesting story that they saw in the cinema was also good.

Pretty slow in terms of main character progression, but we got to see more of Shiori, which made for some fun times. You can see the difference between Yuta and Shiori's interactions compared to Yuta and Saki's interactions, for sure. Quite a well directed episode, and the music continues to be solid. One of the better episodes of this series so far in my opinion.

My favorite episode so far. Senpai and MC share an interest in fiction, so she injected herself into the movie. I liked how female lead in the movie changed her hair color to the same as Senpai's, but not the same for MC; Easy symbolism for a one sided, unrequited crush.

Either way, bookshelf senpai is best girl for me.

Bro, Asamura was supposed to be looking for a job for Ayase, right?

So why didn't he tell her that at his job, they are looking for part-time employees? ._.

Because Saki wanted a high-paying job, while working at a bookstore as a part-timer probably doesn't offer her that much.

Another really good episode. Yuta and Shiori’s “date” night at the movies was sweet, but I got scared for a bit that she was actually dying and had 6 months to live 😭. But I guess that was her just acting out the movie’s climax and Yuta was able to match her energy by finishing the scene which probably made her really happy.

Still feeling like she’s got a crush on Yuta, but she probably knows there’s something going on with him and Saki as well. I’m stuck on the fact the movie within the episode looks better than 90 percent of what Deen have done in the last decade though lmao. They put so much effort in that scene.

Saki showing up at the bookstore to scope out Yuta and Shiori relationship and get “book recommendations” went well. Shiori already really likes her. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.

Pretty chill episode, I like Shiori and Yuta’s dynamic! And Saki eavesdropping on their convo means her jealous phase is here.

Fuck the vending machine. What was she gonna say? Confession? Doubt it. Other than that the exact same two scenes with them at the table and then him at the bookstore with senpai. Atleast imouto and senpai finally met but was still uneventful. Weird zoom in zoom out again and also keeping the screen still for longer, low budget much or something wrong with the director.

Senpai is the best thing out of this anime so far and that's not saying much.

wow, it's the first time I've seen an anime that invested in a side movie like that, it's very beautiful and meaningful, this episode also brought me a few surprises after senpai told Asamura the lines in the side movie, I thought the main character would say "stop joking" or something like that, but I didn't expect Asamura to continue saying that line. Even though it was only a short moment, it was so beautiful and thoughtful.

That might be the most amount of movie I’ve seen within an anime lol, but I loved how much attention they gave it, those scenes looked damn good and it probably helps that the direction of the anime is movie quality already. I honestly would like to watch that movie myself, but the most important aspect of this bit was introducing Shiori as a potential love rival, I think it was fairly clear there that she is into Yuuta, and it’s definitely not a development I’m against, I was thinking Shiori would stay Yuuta’s silly senpai but I’m glad she’s relevant in more ways than one.

And the last bits of the episode with Saki interacting with Shiori and Yuuta at their job was nice, this has me wondering if Saki might end up working there with the “part timers wanted” sign in the background. And it’s unfortunate Saki couldn’t join Shiori for another movie night but at least she and Yuuta had a great time.

The description of the movie reminded me of;
* Your lie in april (because of the violin)
* Weathering with you (because they were falling)
* Your name (He said “after watching the movie you’ll scream: (I don’t remember it xD)”)
While “watching” the movie it reminded me of
* I want to eat your pancreas (because she had 6 months to live)
There are probably a few more references but I don’t know them xD

- "Saturday nights are perfect for fooling around!" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

- With how casually Yuuta takes up Shiori's offer to watch a movie, surely this isn't the first time these two hanged out together outside of work.... 🤔

- I did not expect that we would get to see multiple scenes for A Rift in the Blue Night. And that the amount of footage shown was a couple of minute's worth of runtime. Probably a new record for this year's "longest anime within an anime".

- Is Shiori really falling in love with Yuuta? If so, then this is the first time I've seen someone's confession get cockblocked by a vending machine. 🙃

- Wonder why they showed one last scene from A Rift in the Blue Night before the episode cuts to July 19?

- Finally Saki asks the obvious question if Yuuta is dating Shiori. Of course, Yuuta flat out denies it.

- Saki points out that Yuuta reads a lot of books. Though unlike Mizuto Irido from My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex, 5 episodes in, we barely get to see that side of him. Seems like my observation that Yume Irido will likely for Yuuta if they were stepsiblings has a more solid basis now.

- Apparently Shiori never knew what Saki looked like... until now.

- Saki's observations and questions about working at the bookstore makes me wonder if she's contemplating working there too.... 🤔

- Seems like Shiori thinks Saki is a good romantic partner for Yuuta based on her "pure and innocent reactions". I wonder how has Saki's perception of Shiori has shaped up now that they finally met in person. 🤔

Blonde sister is skinny and hot but has mental problems. Glad this episode wasn't super DRAB like all the priors. Senpai all the way

Show would have been a winner if so. But, it doesn't feel like it will be a winner on the current path where senpai presumably loses or even DIES.

Senpai is making a move on her kohai.I think the story of the movie is shown because it is supposed to mirror what probably is on her mind on how things should develop.

I know Saki really needs to but books, but she could have gone in other bookstores. Perhaps by instinct, she feels threatened and wants to check out her competition. She's in love with him, right? Though she doesn't show it.

I really love this anime, but I suppose ep 6 will cover LN vol 2 then episode 7 will start to cover LN vol 3. I wonder what will be the highlight of this. I expect another diary of Ayase next week.

another episode where dialogues in this anime make no sense.. I was thinking that it was only with Saki because she is strange, but now even that talk with Shiori after the movie. I mean what did she mean with Yuuta being handy after he opened a can?.. is is such a big feat? If she was teasing him then it was not well portrayed in anime... but other sentences in their talk also made little sense..

and I dislike watching movie in a movie.. I hope this had any purpose beside joking Shiori got only few months left to live.. well it might be better for the plot if she really has or else this whole episode had just zero sense...
also I didn't understand what was about that part with the boy from the movie and some other girl also with violin but with dark hair? Was that a dream? It looks like they wanted to show same thing as in original source, but that made zero sense to me as anime only watcher..

there were some hint of jealousy from both girls, but not enough to point out any chance of dating either one of the girls and now we get next episode with Maaya visiting them and cooking with her brother? that is not normal situation right? normally female friends of your sister don't interact with the brothers much..if its not a harem anime..

I had higher expectations of this anime.. but I still have hope something good will start coming out since episode 7.. too bad episode 6 might be wasted screentime..

I figured it was going this way for the past 2 eps. The whole family dynamic and intricacies of combining 2 families with their own habits, want, needs and interests went to the wayside to be a generic romance anime.
Art is nice, music/sound is nice, dialogue and story is just a generic mess that doesn't know what it wants to convey or be.
