Happy to see that Leno remembered something about Kafka that I had forgotten and that it's actually his inspiration.

As they prepare to get to work, some disposal crew members attempt to catch a glimpse of Leno and Kafka in action but are interrupted by another member wondering about someone's whereabouts. Toku speculates that this person is probably hiding in the bathroom again. However, he is proven wrong when the missing member appears, examining the defeated kaijus, unaware of Leno and Iharu's presence. During this, he inadvertently reveals his plan to tire out the defense force using variants that split and regenerate. Leno tries to grasp what he is saying, but Iharu swiftly interrupts and confronts the disguised kaiju.

Leno using Kafka's human version as his definition of a great officer is so wholesome. In just seven episodes, their relationship has realistically grown for the better. Iharu's quick return to help Ichikawa spared us from the usual drawn-out scenes of internal turmoil. Animation was great throughout this episode, whether it be the character acting, drawings, or the fights themselves. Easily the best animated episode, up there with episode one. But anyways, damn, Kafka is so badass as a kaiju. I expected him to be overpowered, but I didn't expect the fight to be so one-sided. Kafka doesn’t seem to have taken any damage even after so many slashes. Pretty badass, ngl—sasuga Kaiju No. 8.

Soushirou is pretty badass too. I can't wait to see how Kafka gets out of this.

The only reason these guys, Reno and pink haired spiky dude, ended up meeting monster #9 was just for meeting a simple fucking basic reason. First to picture that they aren’t exactly only fodders(the impression of which unfortunately didn’t change much even after this encounter) and secondly, to throw in a flashy entry for our comedy king, Kafka.

Have to say though, they did show number 9 as gruesome as they could, with his actions as well as with his words. This guy has a very long future in this series, and I guess for a first showing, they’ve established him as someone who would come time after time and would bring the worst out of these characters. Though again in the end, in the most predictable way Kafka came and stole all the spotlight to himself lol. Now let’s play with this stupid fucking anime troupe where one of these good guys have cornered Kafka, sigh.

Damm man this Kaiju.no 9 is so strong, Reno did his best to stop that monster though.
Heck yeah 🔥🔥 Kafka he beat that Kaiju 9 so badly & it's so satisfying, it's a shame he escaped.
Vice-captain don't kill him!! Plus, what's with the 92%!!! Power extracted from the suit. VC is also strong as Ashiro-san.

Episode was fairly predictable as a whole, especially towards the end but I will say, the lighting and atmosphere made it a bit better than the norm. Character designs were not that great as usual but the animation here was one of the better showcases of this series so far, makes sense given the kind of episode it was and the importance of it in the long run. First half dragged for me but it did get a bit more intense in that second half, albeit being a bit formulaic given the demographic targeted and where the manga is releasing in.

That was a really good episode, probably the best so far. Obviously Reno and Iharu weren't going to be able to do much against this other humanoid Kaiju but thankfully Kafka showed up and put the beats on him. Kafka's power in his Kaiju form is insane. He almost finished the job but of course got interrupted by members of the Defense Force. That small display of what Hoshina is capable of at the end was cool af so next episode should be another banger.

This episode was ok too. But the first half fight with that kaijuu vs Reno and other guy was boring and dragging for too long.

We got a lot of fight scenes with fairly nice animation, though the whole thing other than that still doesn't feel any special compared to previous episodes.
Next, I'm excited with Hoshina's action.

The first fight between Kaiju 8 and Kaiju 9! Turns out there's more humanoid Kaiju out there with this creepy guy that can transform back and forth. It looks like he's the opposite of Kafka where Kaiju 9 is a Kaiju that can become human not the other way around like Kafka. Kaiju 9 shooting at Reno and Iharu was brutal, really tough to watch as they both got filled with holes. Kaiju 9 having those silver goop balls that can even breakthrough their battle suits is scary. Reno held out a long time, he took some serious damage trying to buy time. Iharu showed real guts sticking by Reno even when he maybe should've ran, but they protected each other long enough for Kafka to arrive. Knocking that nasty Kaiju 9 back with those super punches. Kafka gave that thing a taste of its own medicine with those unrelenting strikes, after what it did to Reno and Iharu it deserves to be beaten to a pulp. Unlucky that some other members of the defense force crashed the party and let Kaiju 9 escape, now with the knowledge of how strong Kafka is. Whom himself being confronted by Hoshina right after the fight, it might be time to bring in another person into the secret otherwise this won't end well for Kafka.

I like the premise of the show but if the plot is going to be like this all the time then it’ll go from average to trash real quick. What I mean is: They go on a mission > defeat the kaiju > a more powerful kaiju appears > side characters get in trouble > mc transforms and saves them

I'd prefer if characters other than Kafka (and possibly Mina) can contribute some damage to a high-class villain. But all they did is just to survive (barely, with Kafka's help). On the bright side, it means that there's a lot of room for improvement and development.

By the way, the real MVP is the suit. Give a nobel to the inventor, this suit is the real lifesaver, a sexy lifesaver!

Damn. These episodes are way too short. After beating up Kaijuu No. 9, Kafka has to go head to head with vice captain Hoshina. Now we have to wait until next week to see if the two of them will end up killing each other off.

The powerlessness Iharu felt when he realized the finger tumor kaiju (or whatever its called) was just toying with them was real.

Please tell me Kafka has something up his sleeve/kaiju arm that can handle a close ranged specialist at 92%. Can't help but imagine all the different reactions would be to realizing Kaiju No. 8 has been helping them all this time

Reno is trying his best to have Kafka's attitude so Kafka doesn't need to risk transforming all the time. Meanwhile, Iharu is frustrated as he's the one being saved all the time. He returned to save Reno even if it was fruitless until Kaiju No.8 stepped in, and fought Kaiju No. 9 in such spectacular fashion.
Calling Kaiju No. 8 Senpai in public, and the other JAKDF members coming to neutralize him was a scenario they wanted to avoid. Though Kafka got away and hit the ground to cover it up, he ends up with his own vice captain, who's adept at neutralizing Kaiju his size.

Iharu was so desperate to save Reno in this episode. I felt bad for him. Goes to show how outmatched tey were in that fight but thankfully, Kafka came in time and saved them but he failed to kill the other Kaiju because of external interference.

And, now Kafka's facing vice-captain, Hoshino alone. Looks like it's gonna be bad for Kafka. Hopefully, he'll get out of there safely. Next episode can't come soon enough. It was an amazing episode.

Decent episode. Iharu and Reno vs. Kaiju no. 9 was a bit too "anime" to my liking. Lots of monologuing with "nakama power" energy. It was too slow and if some of the monologues were cut it definitely would've made the episode more tense.

Real shit happened when Kafka showed up. Too bad he didn't get to kill the asshole.

That cliffhanger tho. I knew Kafka would eventually fight Hoshina but I didn't think it'd happen so soon. Hyped for the next episode!

Oh shit, almost kill the humanoid kaijuu for real. But since he failed to finish the job, Kafka on the pinch since vice captain manage to catch up his ass. This is why he needs to take the kaijuu form seriously, and try to think more accurately, or else more pinch coming to finally pin him down. Or this is the moment Kafka gonna get screwed for real? Another week to wait, huh? Oh well....

Another episode of peak! Kaiju number 9 was working Iharu and Reno 😭 but at least they held their own and put up a good fight. They both have their own motivations for wanting to be stronger and considering the class of Kaiju they took on as new recruits, they did well.

Production IG cooked with the fights as usual. Reno and Iharu abilities looked good and the action felt very fluid. As you’d expect, Kaiju number 9 did overpower them at the end and seeing someone as proud as Reno literally beg for help was tuff. He asked for god or a demon to help, Kafka did him one better.

They said the thing! Kafka showing up clearly was not in Kaiju number 9 plans because he was beating his ass lmao. Ofc plot wouldn’t let him finish him off. Now that he knows Kafka’s weaknesses and stuff I imagine next fight is gonna be a lot tighter

S/O Kikoru for continuing to be best girl and holding onto Kafka secret as well! Although.. now that he’s fighting Hoshino.. who knows how long it’ll stay secret.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire.. Hoshino at 92 percent gonna be insane next week.

WOW, I'm still reeling from the intense episode we just got! I'm so glad you pointed out Leno's wholesome speech about Kafka being a great officer - it really made me feel all the feels. I mean, who wouldn't want to be inspired by someone as amazing as Kafka? And Iharu's quick thinking to save Ichikawa was just what we needed to avoid some unnecessary drama. I love how their relationships are developing so naturally and realistically.

And can we talk about the animation?! This episode was hands-down the best animated one yet, maybe even rivaling the first episode. The character acting, drawings, and fight scenes were all top-notch. I loved how they showcased Kafka's incredible powers and abilities - it's clear that he's not going down without a fight! And Soushirou... shudders He's just so intimidating and powerful. I can't wait to see how Kafka will manage to take him down.

I have to say, I was a bit surprised by how one-sided the fight was, but in a good way! It's clear that Kafka is a force to be reckoned with, and I'm excited to see how the rest of the story unfolds. Will he be able to take down Soushirou and his variants? And what's the plan for the disposal crew? So many questions!

And speaking of plans, I loved how we got some insight into the disposal crew's strategy for dealing with the kaiju. It's clear that they're trying to wear them down with their variants, but Leno and Kafka are definitely onto something. It's going to be an interesting cat-and-mouse game from here on out.

Overall, this episode was just fantastic. The animation was stunning, the characters are growing and developing in interesting ways, and the plot is getting more and more intense. I'm hooked!

Woooow, of ALL the places they chose to end the episode, it was there?!?
*throws air* (because eggs cost money)
The VA’s are doing a phenomenal job this week, especially Ichikawa’s.
I’ve never been more satisfied watching a mushroom get beat up, having Kafka snap when he realized just what exactly mushroom-head had been doing to his comrades was a nice touch.
That ending though, oh next episode is going to be rough.

Ichikawa really got turned into Swiss cheese by a mushroom-wannabe
。゚(゚´ω`゚)゚。
At least we know a little bit more about what it wants. It was talking about taking a “sample” back, so I guess it’s safe to assume there’s more than one sentient Kaiju? Besides whatever Kafka is, at least.
This episode has definitely given me more respect for Iharu though. He’s a pretty cool guy.

I quite enjoyed the encounter with this other humanoid kaiju, I know people are calling him Kaiju #9 but they have yet to call him that in the show so I’m holding off lol. I really do love his design, creepy voice and weird powers, almost reminds me of something I’d see in Resident Evil, and he really gave Iharu and Ichikawa a beatdown, he really was just fucking with them the whole time which is evident by the reveal that there was way more to his powers than what was initially known, this makes me forgive that he gave them time to have a wholesome moment before going for the attack lol.

And although Ichikawa took so many hits he’s somehow still alive, I guess that’s because the kaiju was planning to take him alive so once again I can’t really complain, but thankfully Kafka finally arrived and gave this funky kaiju a merciless beatdown, and it looked quite awesome too. And I fucking knew the defense force was interrupt before Kafka could finish the job, so not only did the funky kaiju get away, but now Kafka is facing down Vice-Captain Hoshina and is about to find out why he’s so good, should be exciting but I’m worried for Kafka lol.

Edit: turns out the episode title is Kaiju No. 9, so oops, my bad lol, but I guess it’s still true they have not called him that yet

I was talking about the amount of chapters getting adapted per episode depends on how much action there is
if the chapters are full of action then a single episode can adapt as far as 5 chapters even.

about the cliffhangers I guess you just have to endure it or maybe binge after the season ends
