That fucking smile. Manaria has somehow completely changed Rei in just two episodes.

Manaria was Claire's childhood crush. Claire, feeling down after Lene's departure, had started to regain her spirits with Manaria's presence. However, Manaria, intrigued by Rei, began to take care of Claire's surroundings, seemingly as a provocation. The days without being able to stay by Claire's side continued, and Rei's patience was reaching its limit. And so, their duel kicks off, a showdown to figure out who gets to stand by Claire's side.

It's really sad how people often only realize the true worth of something after they've lost it. Because Rei has these super adaptable qualities that can't be cracked, and her dual attributes don't cancel each other out, it's practically impossible to beat her with just a single-type magic. You've got to use a mix of attributes to have a shot, but getting hit by that kind of magic usually means serious damage—at least that's how it seems from the magic we've seen in the matches.

Oof. Everything Rei put in the effort for, gone in an instant. I'm so pumped for that finale next week now.

Shucks, Manaris is taking over Rae's job as her personal servant! The irony...

It pisses Rae so much that even talking to Misha about it, and the game dynamics have changed that Claire is getting more attached to Manaria, good for her. But with jealousy comes intermittence, and both Pepi and Loretta sense the change within Rae so much to warn her about it. The declaration of love between Rae and Manaria for Claire, the latter attempts to break free of the former's one-sided love for the villainess, citing her half-heartedness.

With the match between Rae and Manaria, the former goes all-out with her game knowledge, though she also knows what's coming for her when Manaria decides to take her seriously, only to take her down with the most wicked spell. Of course, with how esteemed Manaria is, there is just no way of winning over her.

The Amour Ceremony goes like clockwork, though Rae admits her loss and Claire gets worried over her, but her behaviour has regressed for the worst

How will these two ever rekindle their love for one another?

@Reecey91 you know... when we see Claire all depressed next week, I better not see Manaria with a surprised Pikachu face legitimately going "why is Claire sad?" otherwise I am going to lose it.

Aaaaaa the melodrama. I loved it. I get why Rei was sulking, and I wouldn't call that childish given how Claire was completely ignoring her before. But she does need to sort out her feelings. I wonder where things will go from here?

It's obvious from Claire's reaction when Rei got hurt just how dear she is to her, and it really does seem like she's struggling to choose between old love and her current one. But maybe there will be an external conflict in the next episode that'll help them make up later.

I'm interested in seeing what kind of a talk Manaria and Rei will have based on the preview. I've spoiled myself on a few things regarding Manaria so I know what's yet to come ^^

Damnnnn banger episode wow. My favourite so far. I love drama like this. Manaria has been such a fun character to spice things up. Yea, she’s been a bitch at times, but she’s actually pushing things forward with Rae and Claire. Now that Rae has quit her post as maid, we’re gonna see how much her not being around affects Claire. As Shakespeare said, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I’m not sure if Manaria is doing this for vindictive reasons or genuinely to help Rae and Claire get together, but either way the outcome is going to be the same. The way they were before, nothing was gonna happen with Rae and Claire. They needed a stimulus.

The fight scene was intense. Getting hit by dominator ironically wasn’t Rae’s loss, but her win because Claire was so concerned for her. Think that’s the first time we see Claire get angry and question Manaria as well.

The post credits scene was brutal to watch because you know how much Rae cares for Claire and how hard that decision to quit must have been. Manaria told her to not run away though and she’s doing exactly that. For Claire, her shedding tears over Rae is such a big deal. It’s undeniable that it’s more than just a simple maid master relationship at this point. Plus, having lost her previous maid she’s gotta be extra sensitive rn.

Can’t wait to see what happens next episode. Sad that it’s the finale 😢

Melodrama sucks here but it is something to test Rae's resolve with her relationship with Claire since she has been someone obsessive with her but also passive in actually attempting to pursue a romantic relationship in a serious manner, probably due to internal fears of rejection as from the game she is aware of Claire's interest in others like Thane or even another female like Manaria that Claire had been getting extremely close with - who happens to also not be a commoner too. It feels forced as hell but I understand why it is there. Rae leaving Claire feels like a tantrum right now considering the argument they had but in a way, it does give them both the opportunity to distance from each other to realize what they mean to each other. It takes separating from something sometimes to understand its true value and that is probably on display here. While I get why it is the way it is, still pretty cliche and annoying to watch too as a whole. Didn't feel much myself seeing these conflicts at hand.

Looks like Manaria's plan worked well on Claire, but backfired spectacularly on Rae. Next episode's title does give hope that at least one of them won't stay useless, though, and we'll get past this touble as well.

Okay, I was already angry by the introduction of Manaria last episode, but nothing prepared me for the absolute shit show that was about to unfold, the classic generic "lol, get cucked" garbage these shows always do, adding a stupid, nonsensical plot device which only purpose is to delay the climax by "testing" the resolve of the Main Character.

Why the fuck would they need to do this anyway, this late in the anime, where Claire was already flourishing feelings for Rae in a very nice way, why add more seasoning? why ruin everything like this? Who wrote this piece of garbage?

Fuck this show.

With Rae getting less and less interesting by the episode, it was mainly my OCD-like obsession to see how it ended that kept me going, but Manaria made it a bit more interesting, fortunately.

Does nobody else here see that Manaria means to *help* Rae? She's forcing Claire to admit that she cares, and even Rae quitting is probably for the better because they can then reform a relationship on more equal terms.

Yeah, it's obviously the standard rift that always has to happen before the inevitable reconciliation at the end of every love story. The title of the final episode gives it away.

Never did I think that Rae would suffer such a crushing defeat, let alone at the hand of Manaria who pretty much won everything. Worst part for her isn't that she lost when it comes to love, it's that she lost herself as soon as a rival appeared.

Manaria is just waaayy to much of a shounen """"antihero""""-bro (add some more quotation marks and about a dozen *winks* on top) with a bit of shojo rapey-touchy prince mixed in because of course. It's so over-the-top, cliche and in your face, it physically hurts. That was satire that didn't know it's satire ... that doesn't even know what satire is. Fucking CRINGE, for fucks sake!

Rae’s peanuts done went sour in this one lol, Manaria shook thinks up in more ways that I thought she would, it went from comedic to some actual drama striking up near the end there after Rae lost her fight with Manaria. I definitely couldn’t see Rae ever being this way with Claire up till now, kinda hurt to see but I liked it at the same time, now I wonder how long the two of them will stay apart before something brings them together once again.

And of course there’s the possibility that Manaria is doing all this to help Rae instead of being a villain like it currently seems she is. We did hear her thoughts once when she won Claire in the duel but I’m not sure if that removes the wingwoman possibility, and as of rn that’s definitely what I think is going on, it’ll be interesting to see if she does anything to save their relationship now that Rae has done the big bad. And lastly, the ED being a different part of the song was a nice tough, fitting for this episode.

Rei seems far too mentally and emotionally intelligent to fall for such simplistic bait. It's been 10 episodes and I'm glad the focus is finally on something she needs to overcome herself and her struggles in doing so. But not like this :/

Is her ability to be strong in magic - to defend Claire - the only thing she has pride in/cares about??? Since when?

Think this was the weakest episode until now, meh. Manaria is a well done "antagonist" (think there is more to her still) and the drama was kinda interesting- only everyone heavily shitting on Rae felt so forced. Claire clearly knew something was up. She just piles onto it and completely obliterates Rae with some cringy monologue after having neglected and literally denied the existence of Rae for two whole episodes in a row. It felt inconsistent with what happened this chapter and just makes Claire into a REALLY ugly character.

E: Whew, just read ahead a bit and hot DAMN! Claire is too easy and I absolutely hate her, just like that. She clearly does not deserve Rae, holy moly. I kinda hope for some interesting developments with other/newly introduced characters. Guess I will hit up the novels and pray.

i agree there were some parts although not majorly altering the main events is still abit sad when they didn't include it but I'm still happy nonetheless we had a chance to see this story animated. 😭 the gravity of feelings in the LN has been given justice on this animation. I really hope they push a second season on this up until at least on the second volume of the LN.

Yet again i'm proven that we don't get happy stories in lesbian fiction. Hoping the finale bridges the gap but i cant help but feel very disappointed, i am worried that this will just be another queerbait version of an otherwise good story initially. Was expecting a more progressive GL anime instead of a show that is regressing in some ways and decent rep in others. I'll read the light novels instead, thankyouverymuch.

I’m and 100% getting the ln when this show ends. I guarantee this won’t get a second season because that’s how yuri’s are. But I’ve heard many good things about the light novel and I really wanna read it.

this is the real issue I have, Claire has consistently realized that she does care for Rae but refuses to actually act like it when it counts, and typically only goes "oh maybe she is more than just trash" after something happens. to a rather exaggerated degree. it's kinda frustrating, and this arc just turns that dial to 228

Manaria is repeatedly stated to be an ally to Rae in the game, so I won't hop on that hate train yet. Yuri knows Rae needs a push or two to stop hiding her love for Claire behind comedy! Dominator was pretty brutal though. I'm glad they had that magic dampening barrier to reduce its damage.

Manaria is just so good at making me hate her even more and more its crazy, like I get the idea but man its one thing to provoke and win a fight but she 1 shot almost killed Rae. The post credit scene was so bitter, and Claire not understanding why Rae is acting like that is beyond me. Its literally 2 pieces of a puzzle, Manaria shows ups in the story, Claire is obsessed with her and is on her 24/7 then wonders why Rae who openly screams I love you to Claire is sulking. Already mentally prepared for this episode. I'm glad they still include Rae's reasoning on her dislike towards the Posie Armour story and Misha is up for role as the wingwoman for Rae. Quite surprised the battle scene is quite short and Rae being put into Dominator box locked effect is pretty cool. They also include the SSCC scene when Claire comes to hold Rae's unconscious body, nice touch. And yeah Pepi and Loretta also support Rae more rather than Manaria to be with Claire. There are more story into these two underlings than just what we saw only from Rae's pov. Yeah Rae at this point is already giving up pursuing Claire's love so she would choose to act silly to avoid being hurt from rejection which stem from her past gay life experiences. So she choose to believe to stay by her side and said as long as Claire is happy she is fine. And from Claire's side of thing, there are two obstacles that she need to overcome. Firstly, her nobility life standard and secondly her self doubt on being undeserving of love. Everyone that she cares about will eventually leave her side from her mother, Lene and now Rae too. Not to mention, Rae always act silly and not genuine in front of her. Manaria is just the worst wingwoman or love cupid for both of these idiots but she is really needed or their relationship is going nowhere. So the only thing that Rae need to do is by act serious and genuine in front of Claire so she wouldn't doubt it anymore. Too bad the anime will end until this arc which is really a shame. As an introduction, the anime is pretty decent for introducing the cast and the settings. The actual journey will begin past the anime when both of them finally work together as partners.

Lol, people here are so negative already and this isn't even the part of this arc all the manga readers were mad about yet.

Anyway, if Manaria hadn't shown up and done what she did then Rae and Claire's relationship would've stagnated and never progressed. It'll become a bit more obvious next episode, but this arc was absolutely necessary.

People here call this forced; i say not having something like this happen would be forced.

The "Claire-Blocking" was funny at the beginning, but it became unfunny by the end of the episode. The problem with Manaria is even if she's helping Rae and Claire's relationship in the long run (?), she's doing it in a rough and painful way while seeming smug and delighting in it too much. It's like tough love or punishment is sometimes necessary, but you're not supposed to enjoy it while doling it out, or at least don't look like you are. Manaria is coming off like a smug sore-winner, and she doesn't seem to have any remorse in the obvious pain she's causing to not only Rae, but also to Claire. Maybe that stems from her ego of being the only quad-caster and idolized by all, but boy oh boy does she need some satisfying comeuppance IMO.

I think people are saying what happened is forced is because Rae got her buttons pushed so badly by Manaria, Rae lost all judgement (emotions clouds judgement). Rae just blabs her feelings about Claire to Manaria unprompted when asked to talk, she gets baited by "shallow love" and "running away", and accepts a duel when she's turned down duels in the past from Claire saying "she's got nothing to gain". The duel was a no-win situation for Rae, even if Rae had won she risked Claire getting upset with her for defeating/hurting/fighting with her idol, and the prize (Claire) was not something Manaria could give, as Claire rightfully later on points out that she's pissed at both of them for. I would love to see Claire pissed at Manaria next episode for her part in all this, maybe even becoming disillusioned in her (that would be satisfying), but somehow I suspect Manaria is going to get off blameless (which is somewhat infuriating giving her cavalier attitude). I do like seeing in the preview of Rae slapping away Manaira's hand, hopefully we get something like Manaira finding out and regretting she's gone too far next episode, but I'm having doubts given how's she's been portrayed so far.

It's a very good effective episode leading into the season finale, but it's so uncomfortable due to the lack of satisfaction of not having Manaria punched in the face which is needed for catharsis in the finale.

Rae saying she only wants Claire to be happy my ass! Rae used her knowledge of the game to forcibly become Claire's maid even Claire didn't like it, she's pretty much a stalker and now looks like Claire is in love with Rae but just hasn't realised it yet. These GL and BL works always have the same scenarios. What great writing! /s

I'd rather prefer Claire to be with Manaria but Manaria is of course going to be plot device to get Rae and Claire together.

Yeah I'm also thinking that Manaria is actually trying to support both Rae and Claire's relationship but doing it in a heavy handed way. On that note I also think that Manaria will end up leaving both of them alone so that they can reconcile, and they probably shouldn't have showed the title for the finale since it kind of spoils it IMO.

Manaria is such a b!tch and I hope the don't try to spin it as "she was trying to help them get together," because that's annoying.
