| Nah, anything that could've been a "golden age" ended in 2012. We're currently in the commercial Era. Less risk and more appealing to established franchises and trends. Also, many greats of the industry died or retired; Miyazaki is holding the line vy himself, but he's probably actually done after The Boy andmd the Heron. |

| One problem in the anime community is that they can’t seem to set exact years of this golden age during 80s and 90s, I personally don’t see mid 80s to early 90s as the golden age since most of 90s best shows only appeared towards the end of 90s , Akira and few ghibli movies who came out in that period just doesn’t convince me. If we really felt that anime had a modern golden age it would probably be 2013 - 2023 , Attack on titan started it and ended it while in that period some of the most critically acclaimed anime series also happened or continue to till this day. This also reminds me of statement that Sopranos started golden age of television back in 1999, I can only image how sitcom enjoying boomers felt hearing this back then only to be proven very wrong in next 15 years. |

| No. I think the golden era is around 2007-2012 At that time, lots of both dumb anime idea and concept appears regularly. Also anime artstyle direction transition between early 2000s and modern style like we all know today happens at that time. And finally why i prefer that year than late 1990s even though they have both in above category i mentioned is solely because of number of anime aired there each season also skyrocketed a lot in 2007-2012 era. |

I just became popular with the mainstream attracting a lot of tourists, if Japanese people listen to westerners opinions it will just become decadent as current mainstream western media.

| I think Golden Age is relative. Different people put it at different points. I'm liking some of the stuff being released, and I appreciate the few projects taking risks. Though I also think that aside from a few things, this era is rather safe. |
| Not even close. Quantity <> Quality Anime started peaking in the late 90s, had peaked in the early '00s and has been in decline ever since. Slowly at first, but the rate has gone logarithmic this decade. |

| The golden decade lasted from 2006-2015. We had a recent honeymoon period of good anime from 2023-2024, but anime has declined again in quality. |

| To me the two golden eras where the 1980s and the 2000s. In the 1980s, anime emancipated itself from childrens TV courtesy of the invention of VHS and laserdisk, creatinga boom of more mature content. It's no coincidence that this includes the hentai and gore genres, but also has e.g. LotGH as a mature epic. The 2000s harvested the fallout of increased risk taking for new ideas, art direction and story types enabled by the success of highly innovative shows like Evangelion and Utena in the late 1990s. Another innovation from that decade is the invention of the moe show, which shapes anime until this day. Thus: No, we are not in a golden age. We are in "business as usual" mode. |

| Didn't the term "golden" and "silver" age originate not from the quality of Hollywood movies, but from the fact that movies used to be in black and white and had first a golden tint and later a silver tint? Once color became widespread it was just called "modern". Anime changed styles about once per decade and then settled for what we currently have in the late 2000s.  What we currently have is most definitely "modern". |
