Man, dragons are like some sort of anamoly in their world.

This was a team effort though involving Naofumi and everyone together. They couldn't of pulled it off without working all together and managed to deal with that black dragon. Speaking of dragon, it was also kinda neat to see their red dragon friend again.

So we finally conclude the whole dragon ordeal.

Amid the dire situation, Atla took the initiative to launch an attack on the Emperor Dragon. Although the assault reached the dragon, it led to the partial destruction of the cave. Naofumi's party regathers and devises another strategy to confront the Emperor Dragon. As their plan takes shape, Wyndia reveals her profound connection to the dragon. After sustaining some damage, baby Gaelion emerges from the dragon's body, accompanied by the unconscious Filo. It becomes evident that Wyndia's father is the one controlling baby Gaelion's body, communicating telepathically with Naofumi.

Atla's impact on the dragon doesn't quite add up, considering the limited portrayal of her abilities. Her skills were scarcely showcased, and it's doubtful she has even undergone class advancement, placing her at a level below 40. I'm glad that the dragon ordeal has concluded. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of it. The conflicts that center around undermining Naofumi's role as a shield or directly manipulating the system seem overly contrived and forced at this stage.

I've been wondering for quite some time now... where is that guy from the initial KV? We only have three episodes left, and he was the first element revealed of the season.

6:24 逆鱗 (gekirin lit. inverted scale) - "one's superior's anger" but in this case I think it has the original meaning "imperial wrath" (From the legend in Han Feizi (Writings of Master Han Fei) of a scale (鱗) under a dragon's chin that grows backwards (逆) and causes the dragon to enter a fit of rage if touched.)
Daaamn the animation! Wyndia's flashbacks looked beautiful too. Happy to see this.
I understand why Wyndia's dad is still "alive", but what happened to the original Gaelion? Or is it like two souls in one body? Hoping for LN readers to clear this up.
But yeah, good episode.

Agree. I do not see how this really added much to the overall story but it was soooo much better than season 2.

That was a sweet backstory and emotional too. The animation was pretty lit, specially when Atla was fighting. Good to have Filo and Gaelion back. Poor Filo though, her role got taken from her.

The whole Gaelion Emperor Dragon situation...has it been qualmed by Atla's water magic?

At the very least, Atla's last-minute push enabled Naofumi and Co. to escape freely out of the cave, though Wyndia still acknowledges that the Emperor Dragon is her father after being saved from human hands (and at the very least, from their cruelty), and the upside-down scale is its feature that only she knows that is its weakness, that to hit it will require it to stay on the ground as close as possible, with Atla's powers being the last resort.

Time to unleash the Emperor Dragon, and Naofumi and Co. make the best of their preset circumstances, though the Emperor Dragon soon overwhelms everyone, and Atla has to raise her attack, which finally renders it defeated, saving both Filo and Gaelion. Sure, Wyndia will miss her father, but the most important is keeping the Emperor Dragon down, which after a long period of difficulty, they have succeeded. Even if Ren's mishaps may be intentional, he saved Wyndia's life twice now, though the Emperor Dragon's soul still lives within Gaelion as a secret.

Great episode with Season 1 levels of animation.

The guy in the first Key Visual is Trash (the King) as the Staff Hero, as revealed episodes ago (in the third of this season I think?)

There's the budget!

Dragon fight looked amazing with its CGI that actually tries to blend in. I especially loved seeing Naofumi strategizing for the fight and giving commands, and Atla's power finally coming into play after all that training. Wyndia's flashback sequence, her forgiving Sword and saying goodbye to her dad was pretty nice. Would be nicer if I was actually attached to this character.

What's next? Bow Hero? Trash King? The Phoenix? I'm looking forward to it!

Atla proved to be the shield that Naofumi needed the most there. It was cute seeing the dragon learn how to raise a human babe not to mention the bond that was forged between it and Wyndia. The team battle against the dragon was pretty impressive not just in the teamwork but also in techniques used. Im glad that in the end that the rescue op was a success. Atla though was the true MVP for that battle. The emperor surviving in another vessel though was an interesting surprise. Funny seeing Filo get a rival.

Atla stans we are so here omg 😩 we feasted today. Awesome conclusion to the demon dragon emperor mini arc.

The demon dragon was no joke, even everyone combined was no match for it. Atla and Fohl’s combination completely changed the tide of battle. I’ve watched Atla’s attack sequence like 100x already and it doesn’t get old. Insane levels of sakuga and choreography in that moment. Truly living up to her name as Naofumi’s shield

We got to see the rest of Wyndia’s backstory as well which was nice. I love how even though she and her dad couldn’t directly communicate, they were still able to share their feelings with one another. She’s mourning the loss of her dad, but little does she know he’ll always be with her. Very nice ending for everyone involved

The battle animation in this episode was thoroughly enjoyable, and I'm pleased that Ren finally found redemption and was forgiven by Wyndia. The key theme teased in this season's trailer was "Heroes and their regrets." Since it was odd not seeing Motoyasu in action for Filo, especially after all the times he's professed his love for her, it makes me think he might be going through a really rough time with his curse. Perhaps he could be the "final boss" of the season. The title for the next episode suggests we'll see Itsuki, the Bow Hero, featured in it. I'm genuinely looking forward to it. However, I hope that the storytelling improves because it doesn't seem to do justice to the originality of the story. Fingers crossed!

I felt very satisfied with how Naofumi's group was able to take down the dragon once and for all. Their plan to battle it outside of the cave was a wise one, where they could go all out far more as a result. The struggle was real once more, but Atla once again played a key moment in changing the tide of the battle with how strong her attacks were against the dragon.

The animation sequences here go even harder than the previous episode's efforts. Some of the attacks and their build ups, especially from Atla and Raphtalia, looked awesome, as they won their battle and successfully rescued Filo and Gaelion. The way Filo showed her jealousy of Gaelion taking Naofumi back home was really cute! XD

We also got more flashback scenes of how Wyndia was looked after by her "father" to begin with, as her biological father died on his injuries after asking the dragon to look after her, in which he thankfully did. While it was a struggle at first, the bond that the pair had was genuine and wholesome. Not only that, but I'm glad that Wyndia has also forgiven Ren completely over him killing her father, since she knew that he was tricked by the villagers in the first place. Bonus points for Naofumi and his criticism of the villagers before leaving, which was also satisfying.

I highly doubt there's enough episodes to see the upcoming battle against the Phoenix, so since we haven't seen Itsuki, the bow hero, at all, I'm guessing that he'll be appearing sooner or later within the remaining 3 episodes.

The anime does a terrible job at explaining things, so I made a quick summary to address common questions that keep popping up:

Hengen Muso: A fighting style reliant on the manipulation of life force was developed to protect the world when there are no heroes around. The problem is it takes a very long time to learn and only a very few people are talented at it. Heroes have a hard time understanding and using it. Rishia's so talented that she could 1v1 Kyo and later this season she'll solo
using it.

Atla: She's an early bloomer in contrary to his brother who's a late bloomer. Atla can see the flow of life force, this makes her the perfect candidate for Hengen Muso in which she's a prodigy.

Emperor Dragon: The strongest dragon in a world. In Raphtalia's world it was defeated by Fitoria and a surviving core shard was in the T-Rex in S1. In Glass's world it was defeated by Kizuna. A dragons consciousness can survive in their core. It got vanquished in this episode.

Gaelion: Weakest dragon in Raphtalia's world. That's why it got whooped by sword dude in S1. The baby dragon sees Naofumi as his parent that's why it was so close to him in the last scene. The young and old Gaelion's personalities are somewhat merged, 2 minds in 1 body.

Is this arc a filler? Are dragons even important? Dragons can do a lot of unique things that makes them useful to have around. For example they can
The next bad guy

Where's Spear guy? Naofumi told him to train, so that's what he's doing. He's also protecting Naofumi's village from bandits(that's why he was fighting Ren). Plus other stuff you don't wanna know about...

Where's Bow guy? In the next episode.

I thought they're going to fight the Phoenix this season: A lot of side quests to be done before that.

I thought the guy on the first poster for this season was going to be important, but where is he? The studio messed up and made the poster before reading the whole book...

The animation this episode was beautiful, specially ofc Atla's attack, it looked great, it was kinda funny to see Fohl's attack have no impact but it was like whatever, this is Atla's episode to shine, that was a short but sweet flashback about Gaelion and Wyndia, so cute when Wyndia was crying and Gaelion tried everything including bribing her with gems to make her stop.

I'm a big fan of the siblings, their design is great, love specially Atla, her combat style and personality and her VA is one of my favorites, instant favorite character for me.

So now only missing Naofumi to remove that curse screwing their stats but just like @Gl0rp I also don't really remember why and how they got cursed.

They're completely different things, not related.
The studio butchered S2.
Originally Naofumi uses All Sacrifice Aura to boost the parties stats to defeat Kyo. The drawback of using this move is the curse for a time that decreases their stats.
The studio changed the fight so the move didn't happen in the anime. But they still have the curse in S3...

The climatic fight against this emperor dragon. An absolutely incredible display by the entire squad, they all tried their best together to stop this threat. Naofumi using his curse shield to draw the dragon out then having Sadeena, Melty and Wyndia trap it. Eclair and Ren moving in to strike with Sadeena after that. Naturally things don't go that easily, Raphtalia trying to jump in to help was great. Her first attack looked spectacular with some detailed animation, sadly it didn't stop the dragon right there. Atla jumping in with her own crazy attack, with even better animation that was incredible to see. Popping open enough to grab Gaelion and Filo out of the emperor dragon. The flashbacks we saw of baby Wyndia with her dragon dad were tough to see after knowing what happens to him. The times they shared were very pleasant and happy. It makes the situation all the more sad and wanting to let him rest. Dragon dad occupying Gaelion body is interesting but at least he can watch over his daughter again. Other than Filo losing some experience points no real damage done

Atla what the hell is that power, that was awesome! And not just her, seeing all that teamwork was great. What a hype episode!

Wyndia's flashback with her dragon dad was pretty nice, too bad it all ended because Ren was manipulated by the villagers. At least he seems to be redeeming himself little by little... and OG Gaelion seems to still be (weirdly) inside Gaelion somehow.

What the heck this was actually a really good episode. The animation was great and all the cgi dragons were really well blended with the animation style. Not to mention the pacing in this episode was phenomenal. Everyone got a moment to shine in this episode, and I mean everyone. No one was left out of this battle they were used to the best of their abilities.

Not to mention Wyndia's backstory is explained and its super wholesome. That could be a series itself, "My Dragon Dad." I loved how the dragon dad gave her fish and gems and was confused on why she was still crying.

This is one of those rare episodes where I have no complaints everything was perfect. If all the episodes were like this I'd honestly give it a 10/10.

Justice is in the title for the next episode, which means we'll finally re-meet the bow hero.

I have no fucking clue of what Atla did to that Emperor Dragon but man did her attack sequences look sick asf.
Actually, most of the episode looked really good. How come the first two or three episodes in the Coliseum looked great while the rest of episodes until this one looked meh at best? Did Kinema mess up while forming the animator groups for each episode? I wonder...

@Yaggamy Thanks for the extra info 🙏
