Ok at least the rookie magician didnt end up like GS which is great, its very interesting how even when he doesnt know GS left his sister to die, he hates him regardless, kinda making GS regret a bit about himself. Also, him becoming the "dragon slayer" is even a greater cause, would be cool to see him saving GS from a dragon in the future. Glad to see this training kind of arc is over, I wanna see more gruesome goblin slayer action
In the previous episode Goblin Slayer was having a conversation with Spear Guy and Bootleg Guts. They all had these big dreams they wanted to chase when they were younger. One wanted to be a King that would be known throughout the ages, one wanted to be the best, to be known for his good deeds and be popular with the ladies. Then there was Goblin Slayer's dream.
Goblin Slayer had the most pure and fantastical dream of being the Hero who saves the princess, fights the dragon and goes down in history as the Hero who saves the world. But, they all eventually gave up on their dreams. They understood where their place is in the world and accepted that their dreams could not realistically happen. Goblin Slayer proclaims his path was to forever kill Goblins to ensure no one else would suffer the same or worse fate and give others the opportunity to chase their dreams.
Fast forward to the end of this episode.
They save the village from the goblin attack. The Boy Magician who was "stuck" in his anger just like Goblin Slayer from the loss of his sister proclaims something crazy. That he refuses to become like the Goblin Slayer, but instead, to go on a grand adventure to get stronger and one day become a Dragon Slayer. The Rhea joins him on his quest and they set out on an adventure together. The Boy Magician had successfully broken away from the same ill-fate as Goblin Slayer and to top it all off, is going on the adventure Goblin Slayer had always dreamt of.
So he laughs. Laughs of joy because he just witnessed his current goal or dream become real. To save others from the Goblin threat so they can go off and pursue their own dreams. It meant so much more to him too as he felt he had failed the boy before for not saving his sister. And yet, there he was smiling and running off on an adventure.
I did not expect Goblin Slayer to laugh at the end, what is this One Piece?
“There are only two types of people in the world--those who became otaku and those who didn't--and the latter just can't understand what the former is so excited about."--Ono Norihiro
I'm surprised the priestess managed to not chicken out. Looking forward to her learning and using more incantations.
Oh and nice seeing Goblin Slayer actually be happy for once.
The Priestess managed to successfully finish her part of the mission and rescue newbie adventurers, which has led her to receiving a higher rank (Steel). Yaaay!
That Witch is surely talented and powerful, but the way she incantates her spells, or rather speed in which she does it, makes me think that without a partner, she may become a very easy target for the enemy.
Whaaat, Goblin Slayer was laughing! Noice! :D
Red-haired wizard has gone on his own adventure. Good. He was kinda annoying, so even if he is meant to return to Goblin Slayer's party in the future, I guess he won't be returning anytime soon at least.
Goblins have reappeared to dealt another village with loss of life, and a good thing that everyone was safe from harm. But finding the goblins' base with so many holes, finding one is better than finding all, and they also have to keep the young and old safe as well. But this also creates an oversight where the goblins already have an idea of who to attack, and splitting forces coming forth from Priestess's idea is a critical one. Being surrounded by goblins in all directions since their leader is a shaman.
Indeed, Priestess's formation would prove critical to save the incapable adventurers who can barely scathe against the strong goblins, and the red-haired Wizard has to think fast to land his Fireball attacks within a large space. And his attack would be a powerful sonic shriek to render the goblins senseless to save everyone and get them back to town, though slaying them would be saved for another time, while those underground will be drowned and frozen.
With Priestess attaining the Steel rank, a good rank up advancement for her. As for the red-haired Wizard, the porcelain ranked Rhea adventurer joining him made him laugh, and for now, that's the last we'll see of the Wizard who wants to be a dragon slayer. May he have a good adventure.
Man, what a disappointment this season is. It's not even the subpar animation, but the direction is bad as well. Nothing has any impact and it just feels like scenes randomly put together and nothing has any impact. Goblin Slayer deserves better.
Good thing most of the new adventures survived. Too bad for the other two. One was an idiot who removed his helmet in the middle of an attack.
But glad everyone else is safe thanks to the high-ranked adventurers. Priestess turned into a good leader and was finally able to rank up.
What surprised me is GS laughing. I didn't expect that and it feels refreshing. Besides Priestess, Wizard boy got some character development. Got himself
a cute Rhea fighter as a companion.
It's crazy, we've just seen the whole episode where lots of people get killed and what we've all pretty much remembered is that Goblin Slayer laughed at the end! xD
goblin slayer was just laughing thinking about how them newbies are gonna die from goblins. But damn as much as I am happy for blonde gal.. red hair gal always steals the show.
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
This episode was good and all but.. im the only one here who doesn't know? at the end, Goblin Slayer mention "A Rhea that selfclaiming as shinobi", which char is that refer to? can anyone kindly enlighten me?
Also, I’m glad the kid decided to follow his own dream instead of seeking revenge. His emotions were getting in his way, so it would be better for him to follow a different path.
Sadly the studio has limited budget, we won't get to see more elaborate or long fights. The laugh was really well directed, it shows how the director understand the audience, he did not have to show the characters surprised at GS laughing, because he already knew we all would be surprised anyway. Now, if GS ever laughs again, it would be epic to see everyone's reaction, because we would be in a situation of thinking 'yea boys, I knew that feeling', we would watching characters surprised with something that already suprised us. Don't know if it will ever happen, though.
Also, I might be mistaken, but the fact that we can see a bit of GS's skin under his helmet, sends a nice message. There is a human under that, but we don't see him very often.
I’m quite gutted with the way this season is turning out. It feels like it’s slipped in to generic fantasy adventure territory and we really DON’T need any more of those.
God fucking damn! Goblin Slayer season 1 was so good but this season is just going no where! We’re not learning anything new about the characters and the plots not progressing really either
Lots of action in this episode. Glad that mrs Priestess made it to steel, now she joined a higher rank like the rest of her group and I never expected G. Slayer to laugh :3
If S2 was some other anime, I would be totally fine with it. But because it's S2 of Goblin Slayer, and when compared to the masterpiece S1 was, S2 is totally insulting to what S1 was. S2 is so bad in comparison (again, I'm totally fine with it if it was another anime), that it totally undermines what S1 achieved.
Clearly something has changed, and at first glance it looks like the studio change is to be blamed. This is deeply disappointing, and tragic.
See here, in a very coordinated attack, the goblins killed a bunch of people but the very next day, people are still gonna consider goblins as next to harmless monsters, I really feel like there's some fucking unknown entity that's suppressing the news about how deadly goblins really are cause the people in this show don't fucking learn.
Aw right when newbie wizard started to be tolerable and rhea was cute, well good luck to them. But at least we got some cool moments for the poop patrol.
