The clash of the zombies continues and this time the zombified Hitsugaya gets involved.

Joining forces with the Arrancars, Ikkaku and Yumichika fight against the zombies controlled by Giselle. Yet, Giselle's next move was to deploy Hitsugaya, the captain of the 10th division. Ikkaku and his comrades crumble under the unrelenting assault of the now-zombified Hitsugaya. Even as Hitsugaya turns his aggression towards Mayuri, the latter pays him no mind, asserting that he has an experimental concoction he wishes to test. Meanwhile, in Byakuya's struggle against Robert and his allies, Hisagi arrives and unsheathes his blade. However, Hisagi starts swininging his sword at Byakuya?

This episode just prefectly explains that, Hitsugaya is a prodigy. He's a strong captain. The only thing that holds him back is his emotions. So, when your a zombie, that emotion has been taken care of, so what do you get? A killing machine from Hitsugaya when it comes to agility. Not caring where his bankai or shikai is because he's not caring about those around him so this an unfiltered Hitsugaya that goes absolutely crazy. As seen when he bodies Ikkaku and Yumichika, along with the Arrancars. But of course Mayuri always has a plan, and test out a new drug on Hitsugaya. So, how did he concoct this drug, how did he concoct the balls that collected Bambi's reishi explosion? Shit I don't know your guess is as good as mine. And of course now we have a new Quincy to battle, PePe. Don't even want to discuss this disgusting bastard. Liltotto's anger towards PePe for his betrayal and attempt to enslave her is both amusing and ironically fitting, considering her own betrayal of Bambi, leaving her to face a grim fate as Giselle's puppet. It's a stark reminder of the frequent betrayals and internal conflicts within the quincy faction. Even their leader ultimately turns against them. It highlights the dysfunctional, self-serving, avaricious, and hypocritical nature of the Wandenreich. Lmao.

We're getting closer and closer to the end of the Ketsubetsu-tan part of the Thousand-Year Blood War.

Zombified Toshirou was a menace, especially to Madarame and Yumichika, but then again there’s a certain someone who’s an even bigger menace compared to him, and that being our walking disco… Mayuri.

I mean he should’ve considered his and Toshirou’s relation of fellow colleagues cum captain lol, before drugging him and making him stuck in an endless time loop, wherein whenever Toshirou kills Mayuri he’d sent back in time to the point when Mayuri was talking about how Toshirou should comply by those intentionally-harmful ways of his for the sake of soul society. That’s just him being him lol.

Though Mayuri and his ways aside, good to see GOAT Byakuya again in action too, I mean last we saw properly was in the last cour. And like ever he kicked asses until some super strange sternritter old man made his appearance, whose power was quite too weird and unfit for his appearance that it basically seemed like a skit lol. Fuck that power of love… and so did the zombified pals of Mayuri.

Mayuri having his own zombie army is kind of too dangerous a thing to let aside. Man literally killed the zombie trap too at that, that too while flexing lol. By the way, Yhwach and co. have arrived in the soul palace.

It's very fitting for someone like Mayuri to have a time loop power like that, after all he's easily the most abnormal captain so it's expected that he has some odd abilities. And while we're on the subject of Mayuri, the Soul Reapers are very lucky to have him as their ally lol. Having blood samples of everyone in the Court Guard Companies and using that to cancel Giselle's zombification and turn his fellow captains into his own zombies is quite something.

Meanwhile we got to see the boy Byakuya back in action 🙏🙏🙏 glad to see him kicking some ass. Things got a little dicey when the Sternritter of love showed up but Mayuri and the zombie captains got that under control.

And while all this is going down, Yhwach has finally made it to the Soul Palace. These last few episodes are gonna be crazy.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

I fucking love Mayuri so fucking much, his fights are so crazy entertaining and devilish haha

Another stellar adaptation for a pretty wordy battle in the manga, it was a good thing that they adapted it in two episodes.

Next we are getting to the best section of the cour imo, the invasion of the Soul King Palace by the Quincies. I literally cannot wait!

Holy moly, Kurotsuchi is literally turning the tides of the battle around by himself. God, that time loop drug is just too much. I kind of understand his actions, though; there's hardly any other way to fight back from here.

Gee, that love power was quite bizarre too. Good thing the other Sternritters made sure to take care of him in the end. I really need that ost, though...

Byakuya's lack of love, that was interesting. I would've thought Rukia's and her late sister's existence would make him vulnerable, but I guess not.

Yhwach and co. vs. Squad 0 coming soon? Boy, that calls for hype!

Mayuri is showing himself to be pretty much God with prep time, his drug tactics worked perfectly. He definitely isn't the softest Captain, but I always enjoy watching him concocting crazy schemes.

Also, it's great to see Byakuya's beautiful Bankai back in action and taking care of three Sternritters easily, it just shows he's still a force to be reckoned with.

And that PePe has to be the weirdest one yet... an obese old man acting like Cupid, Kubo never disappoints. At least he's been disposed of now.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what Yhwach at the Royal Palace entails.

It's dragging out quite a bit now. Hadn't really noticed the amount of unnecessary fights while reading the manga probably due to how easy it is to storm through all those panels, sth you can't do while watching an anime unfortunately.

God this episode was meh, while there's flashes of good animation this episode, it just solidifies my disappointed feelings for this cour and how redundant most of it feels. Other than Kenpachi vs Gremmy, As Nodt vs Rukia and maybe Renji vs Mask this cour feels extremely lacking in momentum. Kensei and Rose further proving how useless they are to a disappointing degree as they're shit as enemies or allies. Makes me realise how little reason they have to exist other than to refill captain spots (one of which Renji could've taken), which is a shame because I like Rose's bankai and think Kensei could've been a cool character. Mayuri vs Giselle/Toshiro felt removed from any sense of stake or climax, feels like there's barely any build up to the troll bait reveal Mayuri's fond of and it feels like a BTEC version of the Granz fight which was infinitely more entertaining, also large chunks are off screened. PePe is a waste of screen time and his ability amounts to a horny predator cupid version of Giselle's abilities (oh wow another one who can control people zzzzzz). Was cool to see Byakuya clowning 3 sternritters at once with ease though, just a shame it had to be soiled straight after.

It's crazy that this cour is following the first one since they're almost night and day in how entertaining and gripping they've been and this is supposed to be the ACTUAL war. Fights lack that spectacle and suspense and get wrapped up in an episode and a lot of them feel villain of the week like. I feel I'm gonna forget most of this cour. Hopefully with the end stinger of Yhwach, Uryu and Haschwalth breaking into the Soul Palace is continued next episode because that's the only moment I felt excited for what was going on this week.

That looping animation when Mayuri and Hitsugaya were clashing was annoying; the rest of the episode had pretty good animation (though nothing special), yet that part really stood out as cringe-worthy imho. And I'm sure some people will compare Mayuri's drug to Izanami lol.

The episode was better than last week's, although I'm much more excited for next week's episode since this ordeal with the zombies and remaining Sternritter was boring to watch and I wish it had only taken one episode instead of two, but whatever.

Toshiro going against Mayuri on that time loop was visually very cool, as they both shined. It was nice to see Toshiro in action, even though he was a zombie...but surprisingly, the fact he had now dark skin and red eyes, suited to him? I don't know, the contrast of his outfit and hair versus his new 'color' was very cool.

Oh boy, Mayuri surely dominated in this episode, eh? The pure agony that bled out of Toshiro as he slowly regained his sense of self was delicious. It was obvious he thought he could cut Mayuri at first, but the more he seemed to gain a sense of him...yeah, the terror just sank to him as while Mayuri looked like a big, glowing sunflower, he was anything but not poisonous one. The viewer (at least I) could just feel how Toshiro spiraled into agony...I suppose in the end it was a good thing because, despite the fact I understood as much about Mayuri's speech as Gigi, Mayuri will fix Toshiro. Maybe not right away, but later on. After all, just that small interaction was enough to bring back Toshiro when compared to Kensei and Rose...ah, they appeared quite zombie when coming to Byakuya's rescue?

Though I couldn't help but wonder what happened to Rangiku, because she appeared with those two, but after a while, it seemed like she just disappeared? Oh well.

Moving on to Byakuya~. Yes, as Hisagi pointed out, there truly is a difference between a captain and a lieutenant. It was very impressive to see Byakuya defeating those three Quincy without even breaking a sweat. Then again, he got a brush-up at Zero Divison. I'm not sure if he also went some training in there like Rukia and Renji, but he clearly came out stronger: both mentally and physically.

Though, PePe's words about Byakuya not feeling love...yeah, I don't think so. I think he just managed to keep his love tighter to himself and not fall for PePe's 'charm'. Ugh. I've always disliked cherub-like figures because...well, PePe was like a primary example at the end of why such caricatures aren't my cup of cacao. I'm just glad in the end he got defeated, though the fact Liltotto ate him kind of felt like something well-deserved. After all, it wasn't at all nice PePe pit everybody against each other and Meninas against Liltotto! Girls, before guys, hm?

Some of the visuals of this episode were absolutely stunning and effective. I especially liked those parts where Mayuri's whole being was turned dark and his eyes were only visible. Ah, the fear in Gigi's eyes when she realized she crossed the wrong opponent... Mayuri is indeed very strong in his own way, not to mention scary. After all, using everything at his disposal to bring victory to shinigamis side? Yeah, that's war, alright.

It was nice there was once again that ending quote, though I wasn't sure just who spoke it...

That little part of Yhwach, Jugram, and Uryuu all but promised in the next episode there will be some epic fighting between them and Zero Squad~. I can't wait~!

Last episode I had a big smile the whole time. This one wasn't quite as fun. But holy hell, Pierrot used that extra week to bring the animation back to snuff. Unlike the first season, Senbonsakura Kageyoshi looked sublime. Even with all the cg/anime stuff that is the norm for anime now. I think at this point this season is almost comparable to last season. Unless they somehow drop the ball, this season is gonna end up being a 9 out of 10. Soon enough chair-sama's magnificence will be enjoyed by all.

@CritiasBG He used music from Dynazenon for season one of 1000 year blood war. Back then, the sound chooser guy just cut the music off before it got to the most hype part.

Personally I would be over the moon if we could get some Magi music before this anime finishes it's run.

@MFDOOMED The stakes aren't wildly different, just the scenario and if anything the tension should feel greater. There is no Yama, they got caught with their pants down with half their manpower off elsewhere, let alone this is the full blown war and not the preliminary invasion. Yet I feel like I'm watching a fodder fest that devalues established characters. Bankai reveals lack ceremony which they should have, none of the current Quincy (other than Bazz B and maybe Askin) that haven't gone with Yhwach feel notable or a considerable threat and the ones that were ended up having inconsistent fight payoff. Almost everything feels as if it's just going through the motions instead of delivering worthwhile conflict, I mean this is the god damn war and it feels devoid of something that the initial invasion in cour 1 had in spades. I should be feeling how hard fought a victory this is supposed to be but I don't and it's a shame especially considering the framework left by cour 1. Maybe these last 3 episodes will be great, maybe cour 3 and beyond will be even greater, but none of that subtracts from how disappointing and lacking this cour has felt for the majority of it.

Thank god for the mad lad Kenpachi and As Nodt for saving what is otherwise an incredibly mediocre batch of episodes so far

Now I understand why the fan complained about the last arc being rushed and that it had a bad ending. Not expecting much. The author basically spits on Gin's death (which was a sacrifice for Rangiku's safety) after hyping his betrayal for so long. Now that Rangiku is dead he didn't give a shit about Gin's sacrifice. I guess this is the first step of disappointment and one of many to come. After hearing how bad the ending is going to be, which we will eventually see. Also, since the anime is following the rushed speed of the manga, I don't expect so much.

At least, the animation is good, and the fights too. The story is really meh.

Getting angry at Kubo for killing Gin (which happened so long ago) is a weird criticism to make here. It's not like Rangiku does much anyway, nor was Gin's sacrifice meant to protect her forever. I'd actually forgotten that Rangiku was one of Gigi's zombies until she appeared for like 5 seconds in this episode.
