AT-X aired the first epsiode today

https://twitter.com/s_rank_musume/status/1707394735562719559

This was kinda amusing but also entertaining thanks to Angeline. They protrayed her character like an airhead but she's very fun to watch. Episode is protrayed as lighthearted and we do get some other character introductions like Miriam.

The most important character besides Angeline is easily Belgrieve so really curious how they plan to develop the pair's relationship. Animation quality felt kinda mediocre imo but overall fun to watch.

AT-X/ABEMA premieres with Episode 1 today, ahead of regular TV broadcast which starts Oct 6.
https://twitter.com/s_rank_musume/status/1707394735562719559

A bog-standard fantasy similar to The Faraway Paladin and its themes, of a father and his S-rank daughter that gives the UchiMusume feels, it's going back to pure old-school fantasy that's the center of the story, courtesy of author Mojikakiya, which this is his/her's only work.

Yoshino Nanjou's OP is surprisingly medieval-themed, which respects the anime, Nagi Yanagi is back with her ED song, and it's just as soothing as it comes.

The story of a man who's cripped on one leg, and finding an abandoned baby being protected in a crib of hay, Belgrieve the Red Ogre took her in, named her Angeline and taught her survival skills, it's a happy family of a single father and daughter who grows up to become an adventurer: the S-ranked Black-Haired Valkyrie, tagged together with her fellow party companions of archer-cum-negotiator Anessa and mage-cum-boobs Miriam, who has never seen her father in almost 12 years. Every now and then, Ange sends letters back to her father, though she adores her dad a lot since he taght her how to become an adventurer. The thing is, dealing with monsters is more important than family, and Ange deals with the lot before going home to Turnera.

Finally, Ange is allowed to go back home, but faces an onslaught of bandits attacking an innocent girl and her guard, she spares no effort in ridding them off...which she turns out to be Seren, the 3rd deughter of Count Bordeaux. She too, is also on a race against time to see her sick father, and that puts priority over going back home, which translates into letters. Bel taking care of the kids and teachng them the spirit of adventuring, with the kids collecting herbs, something which he did before with Ange in her growing-up days. Even as trouble came in the form of monsters, Ange's dying will to stress out and go home is as strong as ever, even as Bel misses her and wants her to come home soon.

A decent start, but could be the start of something good.

Another snag for AMEBA eh? Though at least I get to see this story unfold a week early.

Our protagonist, Belgrieve, after losing a leg as a novice adventurer, he hung up his hat and returned to his rural hometown. He filled his days gathering medicinal herbs, dispatching magic beasts and wild creatures, and lending a hand with the villagers' farming. Deciding whether to label our main character an adventurer or a jack-of-all-trades proved a tough call. As he carried out these tasks, his age swiftly approached thirty.

Then, one fateful day while foraging for herbs in the mountains, he stumbled upon an abandoned child. Unable to simply walk away, he brought the child home and raised them until he himself neared forty. His once-small charge had now blossomed into an adult, harboring dreams of becoming an adventurer, likely inspired by her upbringing under her father's watchful eye. Though he had trained her in swordplay from a tender age for self-defense, her natural talent was nothing short of astounding.

Realizing that it would be a waste for her to spend her life in the countryside, he sent her off to the adventurer's guild in the Capital. Five more years passed, and our protagonist, now in his forties, still played the role of a pseudo-adventurer in his tranquil homeland. However, his daughter—now an esteemed S-Class adventurer—hadn't returned home even once...

Hmm, this looks quite intriguing. I'm curious if it will follow the storyline of "For My Daughter I'd Even Defeat The Demon Lord". Also I assume seeing as Angie was above-average in strength than most children her age at the time, that she's a reincarnate. But we'll see as the story progresses.

The setup is quite intriguing at for now. The episode concludes with a few lingering questions that I'm hopeful the upcoming episodes will address as the story progresses.

Oh come on, i hate that detail where an old warrior would let his gear and weapons just go rusty and dirty, a veteran warrior would keep them in a tip top shape.

Now, more importantly, i thought they would be related by blood, like a normal family and all :D, this certainly gonna give some people ammo. Still, the first episode was actually really nice, no isekai, just a medieval rpg fantasy.

Also, the art direction is really sharp, isn't it.

Fall 2023 is here! No break between seasons this time around, we’re right in the thick of it. S-Rank Musume’s first episode is a unique experience, for me at least. The entire length of the episode, I kept trying to find something to compare it to and I really can’t.

The whole finding an abandoned girl in the forest has shades of Uchi musume, but it’s not a tale of raising the daughter. That bit’s done already done. Seems like just a story about a girl who wants to go home to see her dad lol. Which is cool to me, that’s cute and different.

Think they nailed the daddy daughter relationship dynamic so far. Even from the brief scenes we’ve got of Belgrieve and Angeline, they were really sweet. That “pick me up” after she got hit during training felt so real lol.

Most kids want to get away from home, but Angeline is dying to go see her dad. If your kids don’t brag about you the way she brags about Belgrieve “the red ogre” you ain’t doing it right. He’s done a great job of instilling a sense of duty into her as well. Even after finally getting some time off to go home, she couldn’t turn down an innocent bystander in danger.

I just hope they don’t drag it out too long and that she will be able to get home sooner rather than later. Also would like to see more of her childhood with her dad!

Comedy landed well, designs look solid, it’s a promising start. Plus Hayamin so obligatory seasonal waifu. We’re eating good

This is a, "one and done," for me. I didn't hate it, but it seemed a little bland. I liked the art style. It gave off some old school fantasy vibes, but there was not a lot of quality animation going on. A lot of simple animations and stills. Low budget, I assume. Might would be something I would give more time in a different season.

Oh they're not blood related, which means there's a chance that Belgrieve is still unexperience in romance, now he's someone I can root for.

I'm pretty sure Ange is not a normal abandoned kid, but I'll wait to see her story unfolded in this anime, alongside with Belgrieve's missing leg story.

Nice visuals, so this is the story of Angeline who is desperate to meet her father Belgrieve but can't make it due to her adventure job. Let's see how this series goes on.

I really hope the whole anime won't be about her failing to see her dad, because I'm already bored with that premise. Charming, but very bland, so unless there are some interesting hijinks going on in the next one or two episodes, I'm out.

And so it begins the anime fall season. :3

I will say the opening scene before the intro had sterler backgrounds they are beautiful. They really went all in for the woodsy vibe. As for the show, it was an ok start. Ange is 17, and she has achieved the position of an S rank adventurer. At first glance, she has a good group of friends and teammates. Plus, she really loves her "Dad." Mr. Bel the "Red Ogre."

The weird thing about her is that she has no magical powers? But she only has great swordmandship. Which is no big deal it just makes me wonder what makes her so special or even S rank. Also, Mr.Bel has aged 17 years and looks exactly the same ? not even a spec of grey hair! what's the deal with that???

All in all, it's a show that might be more geared towards a young female audience.(14-22) With the obvious themes of friendship, fatherly love, and morality?

Anyway, what yall think so far?

Edit- Did anyone else enjoy the opening scene. When you can hear Bel's wooden leg clicking against the ground as he walked?

Very close to the manga so far.

The art choice also resembles closely to the manga, if anything it actually enhances the manga experience, very colorful.

Intro music choice is OK

The anime followed the first 2 chapters of the manga, then they skipped a lot, straight to around chapter 8, 9, 10+ then they went back to the chapters they skipped.

They rearranged the flow, the manga content still mostly there, but the timing is different from the manga.

really like the episode although it weird to me an adventurer has to ask for time off from an adventurer guild they generally come and go as they please also if they making her take quest because she the only S rank it seem like they are limiting the chances of other high level adventurer to grow and earn money and join her and her party as S rank so if they have numerous monster outbreaks spread over a wide area it be counterproductive to count on just one party plus adventurer do get hurt Bel is a shining example of this one wrong move and the kingdom down a S rank

Honestly, I really disliked the whole failing to actually meet back up with her father. It's pretty infuriating to watch when it keeps happening. It's not funny. The rest was good, but just that crap alone really soured the episode for me cause it just left me annoyed.

Not sure what i just watched.

The character introduction/back story was alright. After that though, it the switching povs wasn't that great.

Hopefully this just is an EP1 thing and not recurring throughout the anime as it was during this episode. Because it felt like the balance of Belgrieves pov and Anges wasn't there.

Could work out if they focus entirely on one characters pov and then maybe a short scene of the others at the end of and episode or after a few episodes.

Well, the show did a very good first impression on me.

Among other things, I love how we first get to see their daily life, their friends, their struggles, before (I imagine) eventually reuniting them.
Saori hayami as Angeline's va was a very good surprise for me, I like her quite a bit!

She idealizes her dad just a little bit much haha: I wonder how she'll react when she realizes he's not as strong as she believes, or if she will even notice.
But maybe the dad also idealizes his daughter a little bit.
Angeline frustration was very amusing to see.

It looks like this is going to be a fun and cute one :)

Slow start = good start. I don't need thirty thousand years of backstory on the twelve kingdoms and how the cities are constantly at war because Count Biggus Dickus can't stand Margrave Jackass Fakename in episode one, personally. He's a retired fighter who dotes on his adopted kid, she's an S-rank adventurer who can't catch a break; while I hope we get more information, I would love it spread out over the series rather than crammed into exposition episodes.

Overall, looking forward to this quite a bit.

Kinda let down by the animation quality, especially after watching Frieren and seeing how good it is. Though if you are able to stick through with the animation, the story is quite good. First book of the LN series is mostly character introduction (and probably the author trying to grasp what the future of this story would be), but the second book onwards is when the story truly gets interesting. Shouldn't take more than 5 eps to finish the first book I think.

I liked the humour surrounding her wanting to go home to see her father (and then, for example, being angry at the bandits when they interrupted her journey).

This show already has massive red flags about whether the father-daughter relationship will prove inappropriate and uncomfortable though... Will have to see.

The character design is wrong. Angeline has black eyes, and yes, that is a very important detail in the story. In fact, when Belgieve finds her, the first thing he does is mention the rarity of her features: black hair and black eyes. Moreover, this detail is directly related to her possible origin, and that they have omitted it for who knows what reason is ridiculous. At the beginning of the manga, Belgrieve is shown skillfully cutting a bear in half with a sword, demonstrating his combat ability despite lacking a leg.
In the fight against the assailants, they omitted all the gore, which was stupid since the story itself already contains a fair amount.
I love this story because the character development is fantastic, and Angeline's dad behaves and acts like a true adult, which is refreshing. However, they made such a poor adaptation that I prefer the manga.
