The web novels originally did not have this but the author included this arc in the official light novels as Volume 7, which the anime is following.

The main manga adaptation for Mushoku Tensei is a mess, and even with Vol 7 of the light novels existing in Japan, this still got skipped over in the manga. At least now there is a separate spin-off manga adaptation for Mushoku Tensei meant for Volume 7 done by someone else. Still ongoing though, not complete just yet.

Decent first episode, it was pretty obvious what was going to happen once Rudeus joined the new party but him killing all the bears in one attack was still somewhat satisfying to see. I enjoyed the episode until it showed Rudeus gripping Roxy's underwear, like really, way to ruin the mood. Why the hell does this show keep doing that, the atmosphere is all somber but I can't take anything seriously or give a shit about what Rudeus is going through when he keeps reminding us he's a creepy pedo.

And I totally forgot why Rudeus became all mopey and depressed and ngl going back to the previous season and seeing it's just cause Eris temporarily left him was disappointing. Didn't think he'd give up on life just cause of that when he'd already set out to find his mother, but okay...

Roxy's been the person he respected and almost idolized the most and that was literally the only thing he had that he could correlate with her and asking for her guidance, since the necklace is with Ruijerd. That item is a holy relic and even Lilia, who was disgusted by that at first, at least found that he did value it a lot to pray to it and keep it safe when he was younger and didn't care about that by the end. He's done some scummy stuff, especially as a kid. That scene didnt bother me one bit but that's just my opinion.

He became depressed because for him, Eris leaving was not temporary but permanent. He was someone who always had someone by his side even during his lowest moments in his past life but it was the first time that he was alone and felt like he was back in square one. He was alone with family literally more than a year away from him, while having abandonment issues and a lack of care for living crippling his thoughts. His mother is a goal to just have him get up to not quit completely but that goal is obviously not something that could just cure his depression completely either. It's just more of a motive to try and find his way with something in mind, especially since he does not even know where exactly she could be. He just has to adventure hard enough to gain a reputation and some knowledge where he can get more info about her through passing or luck. If he had a more concrete idea about where his mother was in the entire world, that might help just a bit. Till then, he's just roaming and trying to do stuff while almost in a clouded daze emotionally. Him just walking to do stuff is more progress than he ever did in his past life when depression and anxiety had him stuck to his room for so long.

As we know what Eris did with dude last season(must say he deserves every bit of it), dude’s down in the dumps lmao. I mean for someone who’s mentally around 60 years of age, of course it’d be a huge shock if some teenage girl you lost your virginity with left you behind like dirt you are. Don’t fucking give the reasonings as if that’s because you worried for your mother Zenith. 

Though still we’ll move with that plot. As the dude's been searching for Zenith who we know got teleported last season, he already has an idea where she could be, and that’s when he met some passing party members. I mean those people were nice and all except one, but as if it was doing anything to the dude's depression. Until they got surrounded by some uncalled monsters all of a sudden, and it was all but over… though thankfully dude regained his senses, for that time at the very least and they all made it out alive. Even blondie thanked him.. so a bit good for him I guess.

Yeah good he got over the depression, I mean it was already kind of annoying. Good sounding ED by the way… if it was actually one.

I thought he had already decided not to be depressed in the final episode of the last series? I guess his motivation dried up when he couldn't find his mom quickly. It's been years (based on his new height) since Eris left so I'm surprised he could still be dejected from that still.

Nah, in the final episode of season 1, he was only able to push himself to get up and look for his mother while not letting depression completely win again and have him entrapped forever. He was and is still depressed and relapses from time to time, but he actually had the willpower to not let him be sunk by that completely. Compared to his previous life, when depression and anxiety took him down, he never once got up from it and it sunk his life till his death. Plus he doesn't even know really where his mother is, it's just an educated guess he took since he already went below Fittoa to Millis/Shirone and she wasn't there, so only places he could check were to the north that was in vicinity. He's just a guy that's always clouded in his mind and struggling to keep himself together, but still walking and trying to actually do something productive to help his family than let him completely waste this new opportunity he has in this new world by hiding forever in a room.
