Absolute fire. If it wasn't for To Your Eternity sweeping all the glory, Vivy and this would have been my definitive top dogs of this season.

I've seen some people call this ending anticlimactic, but I heavily disagree. Joe for the longest time was practically a dead man walking. His second and last attempt in the ring was never meant to be as epic or ambitious as his first big match against Yuri or the other with Liu. This was him getting closure with a fighter who also happened to be a kindred spirit. He may not be in the limelight anymore like he used to be, but that's okay. Joe is living his best life now, he gave it all he had, and he's home.

Got big chills seeing Nanbu in that final scene with Joe. Couldn't imagine this season being any more fulfilling than this. 9/10

Loved it
Watched the two seasons all together in 3-4 days, and I've found one of my fav. anime of all times
People who says the ending of NOMAD was disappoint didn't even try to understand what this season was about.

If they make a megalobox 3, I’d like it to focus on sachio, or maybe yuri in a prequel or something. Joe’s story is over and I loved the ending. But I said the same thing about the original megalobox, so they could prove me wrong again and focus on joe if they make another sequel.

But as it stands now this is a perfect end to the story.

it has been a great megalo box journey for me.
first from thinking that the first season was overrated. (7/10)
to thinking that the second season is underrated and massively under popular. (9/10)

The feeling of closure was well done I agree in that but the fight was nothing special
Joe 5 years lack of training was showing off just imagining a fully trained Joe with that gear gives me the chill.

anyway Shirato quit her job which I was happy to see her in normal closes.
Ryu doing his best to get back in the ring.

Great ride fav arc was definitely Chief <3

This second season exceeded my expectations! The finale was perfect. Although Joe's defeat was unexpected, I see why his defeat was the best choice to contribute the whole theme of this season. This season is not about winning and reclaiming a title but about losing, turn away, and go back to home.

The previous season was about winning with authenticity, even without a gear. It was to show that it is not the gear that determines a fight, but anyone from any background can become the champion. Megalo Box is not about the gear but about the spirit of the fighter.

On the other hand, throughout this season Joe loses almost all the time. This season is about losing with authenticity, even with a gear. The nomad, Joe, needed to let go of his pride and be submitted to humility. By
the song of the hummingbird and the turning of his back, he can finally go back to home. Joe loses so that he can go back alive to home with his dear ones. Even though he could have win this fight, it's fitter to lose in this story because this defeat perfectly resembles the theme of the anime. Also, he didn't fight Mac Rosario for the victory and the title, nor Mac was fighting for ROSCO. They were both fighting for the joy of Megalo Box. As Liu said, he also wanted an authentic fight like Joe vs Yuri. At the end, Joe and Mac did a legendary fight that is not about winning or losing but about the joy of Megalo Boxing.

this anime had A grade drama. watching it made me appreciate season 1 more, these season did justice to give perfect nostalgia for previous season. I like the message oriented ending too (kind of underwhelming in some ways but still not bad). biggest problem of this season was the fight scenes (most were tease fights). it could have so much more is they had combined season 1 level of fight scene with season 2 level of drama. another minor problem is the bridging between chief's arc and mac's arc did not feel sufficient enough. (i kind of wish mac was chief's long lost son/bro or something like that....could have given me more relativity to appreciated)
overall still a great season, i love the ost

This ending is kinda disappointing for me, all the past episode were all pretty good but for some reason, i feel something is lacking on this finale, kinda rush with an anti-climatic ending, i don't see the intense of fight compare to season 1, it's like season 2 is more joe fixing what he broke and most of drama. Still a great ride for me, i give it 7/10 (that should be 8-9 if the ending was just satisfying and not rush).

The tale of the hummingbird is a huge metaphor in the series which makes it more appealing than it already is with its art style and superb soundtracks. The last fight was indeed not the best fight of all but the outcome of that fight is more significant, finally finding their way home and keeping ahold of themselves.

I'm fine with the fight ending early. I'm just disappointed it was Sachio doing. This season, he felt like a minor character. Sachio's decision also felt rash and like he stopped it just because he didn't want Joe to fight anymore. It was like a side character just randomly put a stop to the climax of the series on a whim.

The rest of the season was definitely good, but the ending feels like it took the easy route where everyone gets a happy ending. There were consequences set for Joe to die from drug abuse in the past and Mac to die from overuse of Mactime. But that was all thrown away for the sake of a happy ending.

I'm in between a 6 and a 7/10, but I really liked the arc with Chief and Joe's redemption, so I'll give it a 7/10.

Megalo box 2, Nomad, an incredible, exciting, sad and melancholic anime.

The first arc, which traces Joe's decline and his salvation thanks to Chieff, is simply a genius. The second arch for me is a bit looser, but also very good. I have no doubt: Megalobox is a masterpiece and for me it is a 10. A gem of anime. The soundtrack does it again, with the colibrí song and fable...

A more mature, darker, more adult anime, which is expected of a good continuation. Well done, yeah. We want more Megalobox, will it be Sacchio's turn?

While I liked the first season more, the first arc of this second season is my favorite ... Chieff always in the memory.
I can only give this anime a 10, and here is why: Do you know how difficult it is to create an anime as original as it is and so well told today? It is one of those anime with incredible quality that appears 1 per season or even 1 throughout the year. A true rarity.

I'm a bit disappointed considering this could've been an all time classic. A few mistakes in the 2nd half disallowed this possibility. But different from S1, where the mistakes made the show be forgotten, this Season holds up really damn well. The first half of the series is legit a 10/10. The way they reintroduce the world and characters are nothing less than perfect. But I think Mac arc was a bit rushed. They definitely created this character in order to gave a finale to what is essencially a boxing anime, but they had way too many characters, layers and subplots to introduce, develop and conclude. Final fight in general could've been much better, speicially if we compare to last season, but it's also an improvement considering S1 cut it the actual end for a failed attempt to create drama.

Overall, this Season is a definitely one of my favorites of the year, and by far the Best anime of the season. It had some restraints that didn't allowed to be any better, but it's certainly an improvement not only from the first Season, but from the anime media in general, filled with overrated childish shounen. 9/10

You pretty much summed up most of my thoughts on the season. It fell just short of being a masterpiece for me as well. The second half, while good, was weaker than the stellar first half and a bit too overstuffed, which led to a slightly rushed and anticlimactic finale. I also wish they had tied the first arc with the immigrants more heavily into the rest of the show, as that was easily where the writing was at it's strongest and some of those characters like the mechanic mom and her son were pretty interesting. I'm glad they at least got cameos at the end.

Despite these minor complaints, I still give Megalobox 2 a well-deserved 9/10.

Pretty good finale, this. Like many above, definitely felt a sense of closure here and that's a really special feeling in the medium for obvious reasons, lol.

Joe losing to Mac was a bit of a surprise but this is an exhibition match so I'm guessing both are fairly satisfied with the relatively early conclusion. Both of their special ones flashing before their eyes to lift them up was a nice touch, it's much too often just one-sided lol.

Shirato-san exposing the truth eventually and Sakuma-san's assistant turning her back on him felt oddly satisfying lmao. Good job to them! Liu's back to light training meanwhile, good to see.

Sachio decides to move out of the family for the time being for a job outside, that's life right there. Would've been much easier had he just decided to drop that idea but it's nice to see that he's serious about his new career plan.

Kids under the care of the Shirato group back to the house now. I feel like I'm forgetting something important here but did we get any word on this earlier? Now that I think about, how come they were missing this whole time in the present time? I only remember seeing such a lively cast in the backstory.

All in all, it's been another great ride! mabanua's tracks are still just spit-fire and TMS sure knows how to up the ante when the time calls for it. Chief's arc was the standout for me too and it was cool to see a small return for him. Also, nice to see his people tune in to the match.

I really liked the Hummingbird reference from the season, feels like a really meaningful parting note in many ways.

Solid 8/10 from me. I liked the two seasons for different reasons but can't really put one over the other, honestly.

I had my doubts when starting this season. I thought it was done to milk money from the success of the first season. But somehow this one ended with a better closure than the first season. Also the format and the genre of this season was completely different from the first one. All of the characters grew up on me in this season. And I teared up a bit in the end. Great show.

Outstanding! This season has absolutely cemented the show as one of my all time favourites.

The translation of the final Spanish quote is: "Those with wings carry the wingless, those without wings bless the winged." And as far as ending quotes go, this show really earnt this one. So many beautiful and touching moments in this season, on top of the very hype and awesome. They really managed to make this sequel feel needed, by the end, rather than just justified (which would have been no small achievement in and of itself). Which in my opinion is the very greatest compliment a sequel can be given—especially to something so otherwise fine standalone.

It surpassed every part of what I loved about the first for me, and then some, adding so much in the way of depth to the world and its characters through the introduction and reintroduction of both new and old—taking the proper time to explore these characters and the themes they represent (or have come to represent building on previous developments). Harsher, more mature and more interesting themes are found with these developments. Themes you really wouldn't expect, not from an anime—but especially not coming from this show's first season, with its many high heights and loud, enthusiastic energy. But it executes it all so well, to where this sequel—even with its heavy shifts in tone—feels like the true ending to the show's original premise and story.

And man, I'm a sucker for more 'real' stories. Scoring it a very high 9/10!

Even though today I was in a bad mood, but this episode is so amazing that it makes my day.

It also shows strong feminism message as much as its masculinity.

And Joe gets two happy endings in a row! And he's still single! Yuri and Lui too! Maybe, just maybe...

Anyway, look like there's a possiblity of the next season. Maybe a fight between Joe and Lui? Maybe something entirely different. And I know it'll be amazing regardless of the ending, but I want creators to keep challenge themselves by rejecting "classic ending". Joe and his friends deserve all the happiness in the world.

Anyway, is Sakuma based on Elon Musk? BES is kinda similar to Neuralink. And the way Elon Musk want to skip safety step of his technology...

I'm pretty sure that classic ending was done for a different character in this series that being chief and not Joe as chief went out in a very similar way to the classic ending

For me this show as a whole was a 10/10 in terms of writing, characters, animation, sound track. Every aspect of this show is a 9 or higher and well not perfect the impact it was left on me as a person make me add a few extra point to make it that 10. It is probably a 9.5 or 9.7 but the impact and sheer emotion makes it a 10

No just because the final fight had somewhat of an anticlimactic withdrawal, this season was still amazing and truly emotionally deep at some points.

Mac won by default but hey I'm glad no one had to die in their final match. Both Mac and Joe deserve to rest now. Mac didn't go into Mac time and had a genuinely good fight with Joe.

Sachio throwing the towel really showed he didn't want to lose Joe like he lost Nanbu-san. Dude didn't want to lose him and I appreciate that. Also he's becoming a mechanic it seems.

Yukiko stepping down (or possibly being kicked down) as the president was also kinda nice. She's leaving this busy life behind just like her brother.

I'm so glad that Sakuma the asshole was arrested.

Liu's rehabilitating well. Yuri's with him. He'll be just fine.

Casa has become an even more lively place.

That girl from ROSCO became a professor?

I'll say it wasn't a hype ending but a 'safe' ending and I'm satisfied with it.

Anyways imma give this a solid 9/10. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a great story about finding your loved ones and staying with them. I'm not mad that the towel was thrown but I wish they cut out the Shirato stuff during it. I don't know why there was so many death flags before this fight though lol. Way better than the first season

From what I've heard about Ashita no Joe

I'm probably gonna check out that series after this one, I will edit this comment to say if it is still worth watching if you saw its remake first.

Rewatch Edit: I truly love everything about this story now. 10/10 and a beautiful conclusion. I did feel a little blueballed about that fight towards the end, but that didn’t really matter anymore. They both enjoyed it at the end of it. The only character I feel like got unfair treatment was Liu.
