Tomoko is a summary of everything that we can find bad humans (selfish, hateful, stupid, hate, etc..), I think it has more to do with defects being ridiculous rather than 'a sadistic doll play with antisocial girl. Can be found in some parts of the character, in some situations it suffers, but on a more general level Tomoko released so many antipahie, combines so many vices, it is difficult to complain about the final, and it becomes the exit door to spend discomfort laugh at the black humor.

4/5

I feel sadness and resentment for all people insecure, non-stereotyped and standardized to what the vulgar defines cool and fashion. Plot that puts in place the various troubles of young people. Storytelling at times funny and at times a bit sad. Drawings not the best, but perhaps this was the intention of the authors to have as a result.
For now my vote is 4/5.

This series is just an excuse for people to laugh at someone's social issues. Tomoko is an overblown stereotype of everything social anxiety could possibly be. It's just offensive.

Funny episode.Nice start.
But what did she mean by " I can set the flags without doing anything" or something like that? Is that related to Otome games?

Very funny episode. Especially her comments on people going everywhere as groups. Also, that otome game? Duel Love? I remember reading comments on that on some forum. Looking forward to watching the next episode.

Nice start. Hoping for a bit more substance through the series though, I can't imagine another 11 episodes of this being very entertaining.

Tomoko's cool, except for the fact that she has a distorted view of the world and herself, thinks poorly of almost everyone she sees despite not having ever talked to them, she lacks common sense, and is super creepy.
Why do I like her?
Oh yeah, she's obsessed with otome games!

Was I the only one bothered by her use of suicidal threats to manipulate her brother? Imo, that's not something you joke about.

However, I did enjoy it, and look forward to what comes next.

This is not NHK. That being said very little can match it, and i wasn't expecting WataMote to reach those heights. Still pleasantly surprised by the first few episodes, they are quite strong and sad in their own right. Humor is nice, but at times it's overshadowed by the anxiety and depressing nature of the scene and the circumstances.

Tomoko is not a true Hikikomori, but she does have her demons and some valid reasons not wanting to interact with society.

Yes so true, with NHK it really affected me since I wasn't aware of the concept of Hikikomori and I realized that my period of reclusiveness over the past few years would likely count me amongst the ranks. Wakamote is a bit more "lighthearted", but still its hard to prioritize laughing over crying with it.

Did anyone else notice the Death Not parody scene while Tomoko was searching how to become cute on the computer? You know, that "Light's handwriting sparkles while writing in the note" scene?

In Post #422, AnnieoftheStars suggested that Tomoko might be
suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder. Here is some detailed information
about it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_anxiety_disorder

If you are curious about whether you yourself might have Social Anxiety
Disorder, here are some online tests that you can take:

Regarding some other comments made by AnnieoftheStars, here are
more details about Slut-Shaming:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slut-shaming

After looking at this information, my opinion is that Tomoko is not engaging
in Slut-Shaming as long as her ideas stay inside her head. In real life,
Slut-Shaming is harmful to the point of killing people. My impression is that
Tomoko is empathetic, cares about others and won't hurt anyone.

AnnieoftheStars made a number of other interesting points which I
will leave for others to comment on.

Great for a first episode. Tomoko is hilarious with those faces! But it's sad that she doesn't have anybody to hang out with or talk to, besides her brother of course. But this anime is like the anime version of my life, I was the same way in school. Tried to make friends but couldn't. Nobody would ever talk to me hardly or anything, so I can relate to Tomoko a lot. I really liked that Death Note reference when she was Gaagling lol. I hope Tomoko makes at least one friend, I mean even I had at least one true friend when I was in school, so I believe she will make at least one friend. She seems to be really shy, and stutters in front of other people when talking to them, that's exactly like me. I also suffer from social anxiety. Hopefully Tomoko pulls through and finds someone she can talk to, besides her brother. I think I'm going to like this anime a lot. Onto the next episode!

Tomoko is hilarious, i liked her right from the beginning. And imo shes not ugly but cute (except for the moments, when she tries to be pretty^^) .
The best scene was of course the Death Note imitation! xD
She also reminded me a bit of myself, but just a little bit.

But i dislike her brother, how can he be so cruel towards her? I have a sister myself, and i would never ever say "go die" to her! >.<

ok the unpopular defination was funny. Pure and untouched LOL. Also i never saw the box of tissue gag for a female before. guess the bags is a gene thing since her bro has them to. The brother is kinda a jerk but still funny and seems to still be a good bro. I felt bad tomoko. Having a good day till that one guy called her ugly. I also never get why in shows they lable a girl ugly when shes clearly not.

It's not like she's the kind of character who has no friends by choice, she actually wants to make friends.

I started watching just now but what with that scene straight from deathnote? Those move of the mouse were exactly the same as Light's pen movement. Make completely no sense but look awesome, especially with epic background music. Not sure how to feel about clear copy though.

Watched the rest of the episode. I was thinking about dropping it but not yet, they made me feel bad at the end of that episode, even if that girl is doing it to herself. I don't really believe that a person like her can actually exist who even self-destructs hereself even more.

This is supposed to be comedy I take it but laughing at her actions and situation doesn't feel right either, especially when she is doing her best, even when result is what is. I am really not sure what to think about this anime, hopefully the second episode will answer this dilemma.
