Why is this series so half assed, devoid of those kino Gundam politics I loved, and full of generic school shit shenanigans and a half assed generic chaotic racism between these Spacians and Earthians?

This is just completely underwhelming, the Prologue was great and Episode 2 was a step up in the good direction, but the last 2 episodes have been completely abhorrent, boring and plain bad.

Devoid of politics? What show did you watch?

You rated this a 10, tells me more than enough to know I don't need to waste my time trying to argue with you.

This show is taking its sweet time with all of the setup. We're five episodes deep now, counting the prologue, and we have yet to see any major developments, unless we count episode 2's stuff. I'm not complaining. The prologue sold me on this. I know it will pay off later, but I would like to see something big happen before episode seven.

I can't imagine the world of Mercury getting much bigger right now. We have a good idea of the space-earth conflict and its dynamics. We understand the character relationships and the motives of the various factions, we just need something to happen to change things.

Obviously, Jeturk House seems best positioned to move the plot right now, but I wonder how Delling plays into it?

I normally dont rate shows before they are finished, but since most people dont seem to have my high principles I decided to be more normal for once.
Got to rate it something. It wouldnt be lower then an 8 regardless, tho. Anything else id have to take more time to properly judge.

But yes it would be a waste of your time to argue with me.. you are not equiped to handle a battle like that considering your inital take of this episode was a pretty shitty one. It says enough about you that you already profile check someone after one comment, lmao.

Plus, my rating of a 10 is much closer to the reality then your rating of a 4 is.

IBO with Mars and G Gundam with earth are both Gundam shows where Space looked down on Earth. You could throw Gundam AGE in there too. The protest getting broken up looked like a fancier version of Front Mission 5.

I think Suletta is getting more confident little by little. I gotta say, I didn't expect to see Narutaru lite style bullying, but it was rather well done. Our girl's skill only go as far as Aerial for now. I wonder if all this stuff with other mobile suits actually lead somewhere. I get the feeling like most Gundam shows, it your mecha you pilot or no mecha at all.

From Chuchumy to ChuChu. I guess weird Gundam names are gonna be a thing of the past now.

Decent episode. It was sad to see no one wanting to team up with Shuletta, but yet again she scored big at the end of the episode. The students from Earth seem like a decent bunch unlike the other people, so it will be interesting to see how they manage together going forward. Gues Shuletta's talk about her dream moved Miorine, wither her pushing her onwards, but how are they even allowed to retry that many times, surely other people miss out because of them (I mean Chu did but that triggered her so we got those spicy punches).

Ok…so why don’t Chuchu and Suletta open their cockpits to view outside? Before you say, “so they don’t die from mines exploding” bear in mind they’ve been reusing their practice suits and the suits seem have not taken much if any damage.

People gave me way too many high expectations that this is going to be Utena but NO this is a pain in the ass MC who has been a wimp since episode 1 but that's maybe because Utena is a series that's handled in a more classified manner. I just feel like the academy trope just doesn't work in this type of series.

Glad to see Suletta bonding with more people, bit by bit! It's both interesting and endearing to see how quickly Miorine has been smitten by her, going so far as to help her with mobile suit trials and defending her against bullies, Spacian elites, and exam proctors.

Glad we're getting some more exploration of the Spacian-Earthian conflicts as well. It wasn't Nika who got angry after all, it was Chuchu- but Nika definitely didn't seem opposed to it at the end of the episode, lol.

I'm loving the pacing! Hope next week is just as good as every week has been so far. I don't think there's been a single hiccup in the production yet, which is a great sign.

Constantly being able to immediately retake a test is dumb too, especially if it means holding up everyone else indefinitely. At what point do they just say you've failed and go home? Fair enough getting one or two retrys after everyone else has finished but the way they were doing it is dumb.

Also, don't really get how the houses work if someone could explain that?

I'm 100% with you. This episode was so confusing. Why would sabotaging your classmates be allowed in the first place? Why would you get infinite retrys? Why would you not do the retry after you've fixed the malfuction? Why would none of the staff explain to the new girl how they're procedures work beforehand? Why did she not go into a beginner class since she has no prior education?

Episode 4 had a lot more exposition on the school like and the political conflicts between space and earth. I don't think you can count this episode as "filler" as it really is necessary for the writers to flesh out the characters and plot conflict so you don't get lost as to how the main character begins to grow her foundation from zero, starting with her friends and connections.

Granted, it has low re-watch value because of it's lack of action. But still necessary for plot development.

How does Chuchu fit all that hair into her pilot suit? That's some Doremon magic there, I like her mini character moment that showed she's not really a space racist but someone who was really fed up with how Earthlings were treated, it's just a simple story of misplaced angst but I love to seeing her develop and bond with our MC. Elephant of the room though, gonna need some more Suletta lore because her anxiety is so terrible she could barely string together a sentence to strangers. Like hopefully she resolves it soon, next few episodes preferably?

How the hell did they manage to colonize Mercury? THE PLANET CLOSEST TO THE SUN??

Because you know, the title of the anime being what it is...

You mean to tell me we managed to create technology that could survive the solar radiation and extreme temperatures THAT CLOSE TO THE SUN?

How the hell do you even have sight Suletta? We can barely handle looking at the sun from Earth's space (we need special visors to do it as well)... try doing that WHEN THE SUN IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR AND WILL LOOK THREE TIMES AS LARGE!

If that was possible, you would think we would WORSHIP people from Mercury, not put them down. MFers would have more radiation flowing through them then the Incredible Hulk.

Problem here is you are using the limitation of 2022 technology and knowledge as a base of your arugment in the show set far into the future where going out in space is easy thing.

Problem here is that you assume the Sun doesn't get hotter the closer you get to it. So technology should be so advanced that Suletta's Gundam should be completely IMMUNE to Laser weaponry, because it would be designed to survive THE HEAT OF THE SUN.

So if you want to say "just advanced technology", then You also need to look at both sides of that coin: Advances in technology to survive being Mercury-Close to the Sun will also apply to Gundams...

Unless you are saying that Lasers are now hotter than the Sun... Then you need a power source that could handle it, and that would be massive.

I'm dropping the show here. This setting makes no sense. I don't buy that the exams that Suletta and Chuchu took count as failures, when they were so blatantly interfered with. If it was meant to demonstrate the privilege that spacians have, that they can interfere with school exams with no consequences, then shouldn't Chuchu be fucking expelled? And why can't Miorine do anything about it when she's the daughter of the president of space.

We need to talk about this...

I can probably help with this a little as someone who literally JUST had to mess with my afro before hopping online. So afros are KINDA like cotton candy. They're big and poofy, but you can compress all of that hair A LOT-- a big stick of cotton candy becomes a little pile of clumpy sugar if you wet it. Like you can easily turn an afro into cornrows which are super compressed. Or even if you're not compressing them in that way, something like a wig cap and make it go all the way down to the scalp relatively easily-- or else I wouldn't be able to put on my cosplay wigs. It's very easy for an afro to shrink. Unless you're spritzing/mistng it with water or something and picking it out throughout the day then it will inevitably shrink and lose shape. This is why people used to walk around with afro picks in their hair back in the day: to maintain the afro's shape and size. An afro her size and shape is actually hard to maintain. She'd probably have to pick it out every hour or so or else it just naturally shrinks.

That being said, Chuchu doesn't SEEM to have the best fro maintenance. Maybe we just don't see her picking out her fro throughout the day so I won't get on that, but she should be putting her fro in a more protective style like braids or twists before bed or else she'll likely end up with a head of really tangled hair most of the time. Not a good idea to just put it in a bonnet and call it a day.

TL; DR: Afros naturally shrink because an afro is actually a high maintenance hairstyle that needs to be picked out frequently and tediously throughout the day to maintain its shape. Shrinking it down to the head is easy because that is its natural state pretty much.

Depend on what kind of laser they using as weapon....but focusing laser into one point can create very high temperature, easily exceed Sun's surface temperature. We can already generated temperatures of 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit (2 million degrees Celsius) in present.
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/article/120127-x-ray-laser-degrees-matter-hot-plasma-science-nature
https://www.wired.com/2012/01/laser-3-million-degrees/

And in Gundam, it is WEAPONIZED version of laser.

Mercury surface temperature is only 800 degrees Fahrenheit (430 degrees Celsius) BTW.

It depends on what you are looking for in Gundam.

The main timeline is Universal Century. You will need a guide if you intend to go into UC Gundam as a lot of new Gundam fans get overwhelmed by the amount of UC Gundam anime series.
A short watch order will be: 0079 -> Zeta -> ZZ -> CCA
If you want to watch every UC Gundam, feel free to ask~

The rest are Alternate Universe. You can watch them in any order you like since they are standalone.

Be careful of Turn A and Reconguista In G.
Turn A takes place thousands of years after UC, so prior Gundam knowledge is required.
For Reconguista In G, you need to watch a ton of Tomino directed anime to underxtand this. You need to be familiar with this directing style or you will end up like most of people complaining about how confusing the Gundam anime anime is. Because a lot inferrence is required to fully understand this Gundam anime.

Great episode! We are slowly getting to know the characters so far. Honestly did not expect Chuchu to be this aggressive lmao, we already knew she was spacist, but Goddamn. Aye, she clocked those girls though, choo choo, LET'S FUCKING GO! Suletta getting hit in the crossfire was hilarious.

It's really nice to find out about Suletta's own personal goals though, she needs some genuine friends and this is a great start.

Its likely a colony in orbit of the planet or near it, not on Mercury itself. Otherwise why live in space colonies instead of on Mars or something? If they can colonize Mercury they can colonize other planets (aside from gas giants) too, and much easier at that.

A colony like that would likely be placed with Mercury between it and the sun at all times, which would already reduce the impact of being that close to the sun by a lot.

Typecero said:

If Mercury was that hot, it wouldnt be around anymore. You are correct that it does get hotter the closer you get to the sun, but its not like Mercury has the same temperature as the sun either. Its closer to the sun, its not inside of the sun.

From what little I know of stellar physics, ships already need to be designed to be able to withstand solar radiation. But with how little I know, maybe im wrong about that?
