I love this anime, but one thing I didn't understand this episode :O
There were no outs at the beginning. The runner on third is about to "steal" home to get out and give Johnson the freedom to run. Tokuchi throws a dead ball. Bases loaded, no outs. Why doesn't the runner at third just get himself out again? Sure, the Lycaons have a nine man infield, but the batter doesn't have to swing at all (no risk of a double play). The third base runner can get himself out, and Johnson can steal third in that time. Then it'd be 1 out and would leave Johnson with the freedom to steal home, and the batter has no need to swing at all until Johnson makes it home. What prevented them from doing that?

Make me confused sometimes, the show is not really friendly to people who don't know shit about the sport

Character development is what's missing from this anime. The games are good, I love the strategy, but there doesn't seem to be any real progression in the story or characters. Hopefully there's at least a little spice after this game is over.

Dam, I forgot this arc was so long. At least it's shorter than the infamous ones from Akagi and Kaiji. Didn't expect the game to go into extra innings.

Well, one thing I can think of is that Johnson in 2nd and Tokuchi pitching has never happened before, and we know that Tokuchi is capable of beating Johnson to the base if that whole left-batter thing adding more time to touch the runner isn't happening.

What I don't understand is, (and maybe I just don't know the rules of baseball and would appreciate it if someone can explain this) how Johnson is STILL on 2nd base after the first double play where we saw 1st and 3rd being out. How is it that Johnson was not forced to run to 3rd once 1st was loaded, yet in the next scene all bases are loaded again with Johnson still at 2nd? I can only imagine a situation where he was taken out without us seeing, and then eventually ended up back on 2nd base.

Also, nearing the end of the episode, was Johnson at some point out before having to bat? Or are you forced off of base if you're the next batter?

If only the enemy teams would finally realize the one easy way to beat Tokuchi: Don't listen to his shittalk and focus! I am not complaining though, Tokuchi rules and I love to see him win. I also only now realized why I love to hate the owner so much: His voice actor really has the perfect "asshole-laugh". He sounds evil through and through!

One twist is following another, Touas craftiness is something else.

That steel beam metaphor gave me Kaiji flashbacks and I love it~ Toua's starting to really put on the pressure on Shirooka and Johnson with his expert blend of taunts and strategy.

While it looks like things are going well with the Lycaons successfully preventing Johnson from stealing home base, if they aren't able to get any runs from them, there wouldn't be much point in playing any further.

I guess Kojima preserves all his All-Star level slugging for playoffs... Tokuchi is not the main hero of the show he is The Show.

If there's one thing Madhouse is goated at, it's creating metaphors using visuals which I thought would be difficult to adapt compared to manga, they nailed it just like Kaiji and Akagi, Tokuchi is such a badass
