Outstanding episode. I just couldn't hold back the tears anymore as Mirai falls to her knees and cries "don't go", and Yuuki replies with "Mirai, I love you". Seriously one of the most emotional moments in anime I've ever seen--spectacular lighting, acting and music. The episode goes uphill after that, and ultimately provides great closure and catharsis.

Overall, the show was very good, with amazing degrees of realism and drama, while also retaining some elements of comedy so as to keep the whole thing from becoming too doom and gloom. I can see why this was hit-and-miss for a lot of people, but personally I loved the characters and their interactions. Only things keeping me from giving it a perfect rating are minor pacing issues and rather inconsistent artwork.

9/10--a well-written tragedy made even sadder by the current events in Japan.

When I started this anime and saw Mirai crying over Yuuki the first time, I just knew he was going to die. But after the whole hospital thing, I honestly thought Yuuki was all better because episodes 7 and 8 got mixed up in my head somehow. I saw that scene coming. I knew it when I saw Mirai and her mom reunite. I saw it coming. I told myself I wasn't going to cry. Yet at the moment Yuuki vanished into the shadows, I started bawling like crazy. Dear god.

Great series illustrating the "what if?" of people during an earthquake crisis. Animation was pretty crappy for the most part (at least more crappy than your usual generic ecchi harem and such), but this is one case where I can honestly say plot > picture quality.

This makes it even sadder because right now there are thousands of stories like this in Japan right now. If we thought it was sad watching an anime, they must be going through so much in their lives and their loved ones. Out there, there is a Mari. There is a Mirai. And there is a Yuuki

That was really emotional; took some willpower to keep my eyes from watering up. I can't even remember the last time I cried so that says a lot about this show.

Slow start but great ending.

Well said. I bawled like crazy.
For those who don't like the show..I believe its unbelievably realistic, even the time it took Mirai to realize it.

Exceptionally sad at the end, since Yuuki was so damn likable throughout unlike his sister. IIRC her change happened around ep 5 or 6 when the Tokyo tower fell. He was crying and so was she and he told her how he felt and how he wanted to go together as a family and Mirai felt bad. She kinda had an epiphany.

Kinda curious as to what happened to Yuuki though.

The animation was flat out bad sometimes though or completely static, which is crazy since this is a BONES show and they're pretty good when it comes to actually animating. I think if they killed some of the dead time and ramped up the animation it would've helped alot. Maybe a little more introspection between Yuuki and Marai.

Glad that Mari was safe though I assumed she would've died but killing Yuuki helps with the whole transformation of Marai much better.

Good series. 7-8 out of 10. IF the animation and dialog and we got some insight on Mari I think i would've scored it higher. Definitely should be seen by many though

Mixed feelings for this show. It started out okay, went down the hill and never really recovered due to the massive amounts of clichés and Mirai being irritating for the vast majority of the series. If it wasn't for Yuuki's death I would have definitely given it a lower score, but I did cry like a baby... Gets an 8/10 overall, and the episode can have a 5/5.

The story was pretty much linear all throughout given the nature of the characters. It's pretty obvious that it will be a tragedy midway through, but the ending, it's just WOW. 9/10 for me.

Marathoned this today, made me cry twice on this episode. It's always nice to find anime that can evoke emotion far better than the big budget hollywood films can.

Its nice to see an anime that deals with some pretty real issues when it comes to natural disasters. This one wasn't afraid to deal out death just like reality would be.

It was a good series. I thought at times it could be predictable. But they wrapped up the show nicely. I loved Yuuki, he reminded me of my nephew. I just wish she answered the question that was presented: what did she want to be 10 years from now?

I see many people started this series just to watch Tokyo crumble, and were disappointed when the destruction wasn't the focus of the story. Anyway, I don't get all the complaining about Mirai being emo(she acted just like a normal kid - apart from the hallucinations/visions/whatever part). I cried my eyes out in the final episode. I wish more series were made like this: you could actually feel for the characters in the show, not just watch them indifferently while munching popcorn.

Great series! Well deserved 10/10, but I gave it a 8/10. (I have my reasons) It was sad that Yuuki had to die, but on the other hand, it brought the family much closer together. I haven't tear jerked like that since AnoHana so this anime brought back some good memories of the old anime I used to love and enjoy. I don't have a little brother, but I would not want this to happen to anyone in my family at all.

I enjoyed the first few episodes and the last few, so overall it was an enjoyable experience, but the middle of the series definately drags to much in my opinion, luckily the entire thing is only 11 episodes so even with the drag it doesn't last long. At any rate still a 8/10 in my books.

T.T Just Beautiful ending............. I tought this series would be a waste of time... But now I realize how stupid I was. This series was amazing.

If I were a critic I would have to consider the beginning.... the art... the plot... the characters.. and everything... but I'm not a critic.

Really, really beautiful. 10/10

I loved this. I didn't full-on cry, but I did tear up. It was really sad. Oh, Yuuki-kun...

I didn't think this show was slow at all. It was a good pace for the story. The art was enjoyable. and the backgrounds were pretty good. There isn't a lot (if any) variation in background music, but the soundtrack is memorable and just perfect. I loved it.

As for the characters, they were great and all had some form of development throughout, even side characters. I don't know what everyone's talking about; I loved Mirai from episode 1. I don't know if it's because she's relatable or what, but she's a good main character, albeit a little slow.

Overall, 9/10. This was a great show. ^^=

I guessed as to what had happened at the start of Episode 10, when I saw there were two bags. One Yuuki was holding and one Maki was holding.

But seriously; if you weren't at least touched by this you have no heart. Go back and watch Naruto and K-on! and Queens Blade.

to be honest.. im never that guy takes a good anime and says its trash for the purpose of being a fuckwit...

but i give this anime a 4/10... i think it was rubbish

the story should have been a movie.. episode 1,5,10 and 11.. thats 1hr 20min movie.

i marathon'd this and it felt like a 5 hour movie where nothing really happened til the end.

the only reason i give it a 4 is because the ending was very touching.. i just think the majority of this anime was poorly done. it will get a high rating because people will be rating it from the twist and emotion in the last 2 eps

Hmm, the episode where yuuki fainted and was taken to the hospital and the following events mad me think that Mirai was undergoing in a kind of 'INCEPTION' thingy.
Or maybe thats what I thought, not wanting to accept that Yuuki is dead.
Gaaah~ But the ending was very heartwarming~ I want to have a brother like Yuuki too. >___<

god, yuuki's final words to mirai, "I love you, onee-chan." I just EXPLODED ;_;

i had a hunch he really did die when he was in the hospital, but i really kept thinking he was alive until ep 10, where itsuki could not see him at the school

this last episode really had the tears flowing, from yuuki's final words to mirai giving her mother their late present

this is really one of those series that just really speaks out to the viewers and shows us a deeper meaning of humanity, and how it really is sad that it takes the loss of the ones most dear to you in order to bring you closer together

Yuuki's death was unnecessary, but OK.

Exactly my thoughts. The whole death of Yuuki was just a shitty way to try to end the anime with a bang. I could've been content if they had just returned home and ended happily ever after -- Yuuki becomes an engineer like Kento, Mirai marries Kento, etc.. That alone would've sufficed, but no, instead they go and kill one of the only characters I even care for. Sigh.

Overall, this anime did pull some of the right strings (i.e. grandfather/grandmother scene, along with numerous of other scenes of Mari's heroism and Yuuki's perception, which was very good for someone of his age).

So, it's a shame that I couldn't give this anime a 9 because part of me feels it deserves it, but with the most recent episodes combined with some of the earlier episodes, I think I'll knock it down to a 7. However, that too doesn't feel right, so though I'm hesitant and don't feel like it's a "VERY GOOD" anime, I'll still give it an 8. It was enjoyable, emotional, and realistic (up to a point).

8/10.

An earthquake anime with no main casts dying!? What a shitty anime. And how was Yuuki death unnecessary? He basically brought the whole family closer together than ever before.

This! What the heck was that ending?? I didn't even think, "aw, that's sad".

This anime had a great beginning. I teared up at least once for the first 4-5 episodes each. From there it was like, oh, that's sad. Then it gives me a crappy ending where:

1. Yuuki died! Why??
2. No timeskip.
3. No Kento. >:I

A shame. This started out as a potential 10/10, then a 9/10.

Now it's 7/10.

RIP Yuuki.
