Golly, this episode was a bummer. I mean, a number of the episodes in the anime are, but this one had a lot of problems for Subaru.

Elsa arrives at the mansion again, but this time so does Maylie. Beatrice is basically suicidal and she has a conversation with Subaru about wanting to die and for him to kill her. I was gonna say that Elsa's death was anticlimactic for a sexy, big-breasted assassin bee-otch, but looks like my worries were for naught.

She ends up being the one to kill Beatrice. Wait, what!!? 😞 But Beatrice is like, "Yes, finally."

Gee, I wanna see Roswaal as something like a strange homie, but seeing him kill Ram and Garfiel wasn't what I expected. The desperation of the latter's voice trying to heal the former is some sad stuff. Turns out though Roswaal knows about Subaru's ability to reset, that he has a true Gospel and ends up geting eaten by the Oousagi. Shit, those things are gonna make me rethink rabbits in general, bleh lmao.

It's unsettling and spine shivering to see my favourite character in this series (that'd be Emilia) like that. At first I thought she was possessed, but turns out she just went mad (like that's any better). She's too far gone and so clingy/obsessive toward Subaru. She's become a shadow of herself.

Props to the animation direction, 'cause I really liked the shadowy eyes of Emilia. One of the things that make Emilia stand out from all the characters is her eyes. Maybe a fella is looking too deep with the whole "The eyes are the window to the soul", but in this episode I can immediately tell there's nothing going on up there, and her childlike innocence is lost.

It's creepy that the first genuine declaration of love from Emilia comes out in the worst way possible for Subaru. Of course he wants her to say those words, but not in that state! Then when Subaru sees her a second time you can see her clinging on to his jacket (most likely 'cause she wouldn't let him go).

And kudos to Rie Takahashi for conveying a mad Emilia. It's creepy, but on the bright side at least Subaru got a kiss from her in this loop.

But the thing is the taste of her lips... is the taste of death! Now that's the shit icing needed for this shit cake!

The LN has some great changes. Anime speeds through everything sadly, but it’s understandable why. If only we could get a longer season...

Ah, i could not desagree more.

This second season is adapting only 7 books in 24 or 25 episodes.

The first one adapted 9 books almost.

The pace is slower if compared to first season, and aside this comparision, the adaptation is following every scene of the LN, just cutting the inner thoughts and narration, what is something specifical from books that don't fit in audiovisual media.

In this thread below i'm bringing any minor notable dialogues or scenes skipped in every episode and as you can see there, except by a few moments, most is not really relevant.

This season is one of the best adaptation of a already GOOD novel i ever see. Of course there is some adaptations from shitty novels that actually fix it.

Beatrice didn't hold back her feelings in the first half of the episodeThis episode literally broke me.
I couldn't see Emilia like this! She is the kindest and most caring person in the whole series

I wonder... if Roswaal who paid Elsa and Meilie wants to resurrect Satella and prepares Emilia as her body and Subaru's as her soul, and if both Roswaal and Beatrice have books from Echidna, wouldn't that actually make Echidna Subaru's archenemy in the end?

I mean, it would go exactly well with how the anime misleadingly displays every villain in cute-like style.

Alright that Beatrice segment was absolute cringe melodrama bullshit, ain't giving a damn BUT HOLY HELL THAT ROSWALD SEGMENT WAS SO POG !
Of course it helps he's spitting such convicting sadistic facts with Koyasu's voice but that dude didn't even remotevely hesitated for his double kill and he so's SURE of Subaru's ability he drive straight into telling him what the entire fucking audience is screaming at their screen each times something bad happen : FFS SUBARU KILL YOURSELF ALREADY, STOP BEING SUCH A PUSSY TO SUFFER EVEN MORE ! And that's why this episode is the only one deserving a top spot in the season yet because all the other eps were just melodrama in the same fucking loop we're still stuck in.

It was quite obvious after Roswaal's speech. This is not time travel, it's parallel universes. Which is quite sad, it means all these other world's Rem, Emilia etc are doomed.

I assumed he died right after she kissed him hence taste of death

OH GOD THIS IS MENTALLY DISBURBING!
also damn! this is too much! i meant the greatness of this show!
Subaru's mental stability might fall down at this point...be strong Subaru!
and MAN! Roswaal we still can't tell his ulterior motive! Killing Ram like that? no hesitation...wow this is unreal!
Looks like Beatrice is not that powerful 1 vs 1 against Elsa...
5/5!!!

- Oh come on, she is a suicidal lolibaba? Whatever, say the words Subaru, and then order her to don't kill herself, simple.

...

No, no no NO, HURRY SUBARU, tell her YOU ARE THE F* PERSON! That is so,

ELSA: "Hello dipshits, what if i AM that person? ;)"

ngl, elsa saying, "what if I'M that person" was mad clever LOL. but damnnn emilia was a whole yandere in this episode. was NOT expecting that :0

Ahh oke its very crazy episode like always..
the intense episode of the season i think..
so beaty want to disappear huh?
the 400 years contract with Echidna?
the person?
so many question here..
nah. before understanding all the tough enemy that hard to die like elsa was appear..
and yeah when Elsa stabbed Beaty. just like Eat that subaru, its all your fault making death by your naive feeling, just because the enemy is loli he can kill her and see what happen, nah you losing one of the precious person that you want to protect right?....
.
.
.
and emilia whats wrong with her?
and what with those eyes?..
hmm i cant understand anymore..
..
.
.
then look like roswall, he know about subaru power huh, the book?
what book is that?
from here the question is more..
i dont know who is the foe and friend anymore , and roswall can kill rem very easily just like nothing thats very suprised me,
.
.
.
and the last moment like emilia trying to kiss subaru whatever live or death..
but yeah i think this besf anime of the season man.. i was waiting this for few years since i dont read the LN,
and remembering its just has 13 eps.
and i have waiting again next years for Part 2.. but okay good anime need the time to producing right...

This was a nice episode and weird at the same time, I thought that Emilia was being possessed by Satella or something but noooope, she just went nuts which is... weird.

Beatrice was adorable in this episode but I felt like she was also being a bit of a drama queen as well, if she wanted to die that badly she could easily pay a thug to kill her but then again, maybe her contract doesn't allow her to do even that.

It was a nice episode but something didn't click on me on the emotional aspect (I'm talking about Beatrice here), maybe the emotional moment felt a bit too forced for my taste, those big confessions from characters (like this episode) isn't my type of thing, I'm the type of guy that likes subtle emotional moments, not forced ones, in this episode it felt a bit forced or too big of a confession IMHO, or maybe I feel like the confession came out of nowhere all of a sudden, but still, it was a nice episode.

The Good:

Some plot progression with Roswaal. It was solid though not terribly surprising.

The Bad:

Excessive shock tactics that end up reversed, as usual. If you want to be genuinely dark, at least kill someone off for real. The brutality is of secondary importance.

We really didn't need yet another random psycho villain. And the usual villain speech to explain their evil deeds too. Subaru even tried to spare her because she is a child. How generous when she is threatening to kill you.

The Decent:

Emilia with the insane expressions and demeanor. I like the idea in principle, but it felt a bit too obvious and overblown. At least make me wonder a bit longer whether she is in her right mind or not.

Some ok character moments with Beatrice, though it got a bit too melodramatic there. The way she talked about "becoming his number one" was a poor choice of words.

Despite a few problems, one of the better episodes so far.

Meili has been forshadowed since season 1, she was the one that caused arc 2 incident with the dog curses since she is a mabeast user and her name was also forshadowed in season 2 episode 6 by Elsa. and i do agree about Subaru doesn't want to kill Meili because she is a child is quite stupid

I know those things about Meili. (It would have been hard to miss; most of it is straight-up explained.) I don't really disagree about any of that. She is fairly random in the big picture though, especially as far as the main plot threads are concerned. Actually, the whole incident with the mabeasts felt unnecessary plot-wise.

It's really relevant though when the snow attracts Great Rabbits to swarm through underneath, but if you talk about Meili's mabeast, then yeah... she could've commanded them to devour Subaru to death. At least, we get to see Meili's threat.

Also, both Meili and Elsa are just doing their own job that are hired by a "client", so I won't consider that they are "villain for the sake of being villain". They are additional obstacle to Subaru, considering them to be an anti-hero. Moreover, Meili carried a dog from the Season 1 which blows my mind about the mabeast incident in the village, so I won't considered it to be "fairly random" in the big picture since I always look at every tiny detail of foreshadowing from Season 1.

As a LN/WN reader, the explanation about them will be answered in second cour, so there's no need to jump to conclusion if Meili is a "random psycho villain" or not... at least, in your opinion.

In Episode 10, have you seen Ryuzu Shima (white robe one) surveying Subaru's movement while Subaru ride Patrasche by himself? If so, then that was her scheme.

After Subaru already left the Sanctuary, Ryuzu Shima took out the letter and throw it towards somewhere else.

I'm confused in this episode. If possible, can anyone clear up these points for me?

1) Did Subaru die and return by death to the check point and if so, why was his eye injured?

2) Where is the other copy of Roswaal's gospel and is he a witch cultist?

3) Why did Roswaal make it snow and isolate Emilia? Is it because he believes only Subaru can get through them and not Emilia?

4) Why did Emilia go cuckoo? Because if it's timeline reset, wasn't this supposed to be her first night or so?

5) What happened to the letter Subaru left before his confrontation with Garfiel and how did Subaru know that Roswaal was responsible for the snowing?

1. No he didn't die, Betty teleported him
2. Roswaal said there are only two tome of wisdom, he owns 1 the other 1 is by Beatrice(They're not gospels, gospels are defective versions used only by witch cultists) and no he is not a witch cultist
3. His book told him to
4. It wasnt a reset, she went crazy because the villagers thought she was the one who made it snow so they blamed her, she didn't get any moral support from Subaru and she was also trying to clear the trials over and over, failing over and over as well(The trials can be taken as many times), which cause her mind to break.
5. We don't know just yet, we just know it disappeared maybe something or someone took it, also Subaru knows Emilia can't make it snow and only Puck can but since Puck isn't anywhere to be found he deduced that Roswaal was the only remaining suspect to have the ability to make it snow, plus he is also a very skilled mage.

1. No, he didn't died, he was teleported by Beatrice in order to save him.
2. He's not a cultist and as he said that's not a "cultist gospel" but something like Beatrice has in order to dictate a pre-established fate.
3. Apparently he wanted Emilia to go insane but I'm not 100% why (I know something about it but I'm afraid it could be a spoiler so I don't wanna risk, hope someone can clarify this aswell)
4. As I answered at the nr 1 point the timeline wasn't restarted and she got crazy because after the villagers saw Roswaal's snow they thought is Emilia's fault so they exiled her in the "test chamber" where Subaru found her. After that she desperately tried many time to finish the test she was supposed to do but she failed that many time resulting in her going insane. (Also there was no one to comfort her so its kinda obvious).
5. Remember that after Subaru left the letter under the door and left with Patrasche, Ryuuzu was behind the tree watching him? I think after he left, she got the letter and threw it somewhere else. But the motives of this action are still unknown. And about the snowing part, Subaru deduced Roswaal was the only suspect left because making snow is kinda hard and at such a large scale is kinda impossible for a low tier mage so he was the only one left to suspect.

Thanks a lot😁✌ I just want to see Frederica and Garf team up now.

Thanks alot, bro. However, why would Ryuzu throw the letter?

The episode flew by so fast. I'm still kinda confused, not because of things that happened, rather because they happened one after another and all at once at the same time. Some quick points, as usual.

Emilia has gone yandere. Tis either good or bad, we'll see.

Rosvaal wears trunks and not briefs. That learned.

Still can't bring myself to liking rabbits again. That'll be my PTSD for the rest of my life I guess.

Still excited for the next episode though.

I really don't know but if she is linked with Roswaal plans somehow then it would be an answer...still don't know why. We will see.
Ushiromiya Battler, right now, on this island, no one exists except for you. You're the only one alive in this island. However I'm here right now, and i'm about to kill you. Who... am I?

I made a correct decision. Before watching this i watched Oregairu. What a lovely episode and warm feeling i have. I wanna watch rezero next but something in my mind bugged me.

"Something's gonna make me lose this warm feeling. I have to convey to the MAL post now when the warmest still intact"

After i write my review on Oregairu MAL site i watched rezero and yeah my quirks was right. It's gone, the warmth now be cold, colder than my floor. I couldnt longer remember the last fluttered, fluffy, boing boing kimochi i feel 30 mins ago.

And it's still halfway through when Beatrice confessed to subaru. When she asked to make her his number 1 which she knows it's impossible. She knows subaru is 'The Person' but she had long gone her hope. 400years is too long for her to not feel hopeless. Just like human, she's full of weaknesses that has to be others to feel what she feels.

Beatrice, i feel you. I got like years of loneliness, you must feel more and more. But i feel you.

to all the people that are complaining why subaru didn't tell beatrice he is her person:

- if you still say you want to save me ..
make me the first!
put me first
think of me first
choose me first!

to subaru emilia always comes first, if he told her he is that person, it would be a huge fucking lie and even beatrice knows that.

awesome episode, the ending was truly creepy. but hey, their first kiss :)

At least Subaru did not turn out to be eaten to death by the rabbits, his death in this loop was more painless physically. I know that Elsa was not going to die after that attack but I don't know how she managed to survive lmao. Insane Emilia, Roswaal killing Ram and Garfield, and Elsa and Meili killing everyone. Probably the second terrifying episode since the second season began.

I think you're wrong about his death being painless. He was bashed over the head by Elsa. Then she poked his eye with her blade. Then he's beaten half to death by Roswaal. Also the rabits took hundreds of bites out of him before he lies in Ameila's lap and finally bleeds out right after she kisses him. And thats just the physical side. The mental side adds Ameila's state to his psychological state ontop of everything else. Im sure his guilt for her condition didn't help the situation at all.

That ending sequence is the first time I've been genuinely horrified during Re:Zero, holy shit.

And poor Beatrice... suffering for so long. Broke my heart before the rest of the episode broke my spirit.
