With shows like Sword Art Online even though I don't like it I could at least understand why it got popular but ToG just leaves me scratching my head. 1st episode was already bad impression but I gave it a fair shake since I hear recommended so highly when it was only a manhwa but this was hard to go through.

Lizard girl and snobby/vanity princesses sub story was only thing that had some weight to it. Poor sense of tension or urgency anywhere for any other situation with the other characters. Rachel's betrayal portions of the ep13 was well written but laughable for all the overzealous hate she gets in the end, especially in comparison to something like Berserk. Maybe if the MC was more worth caring about I could ride the hate train as hard too myself. I dunno.

It's like a fanfiction author just stumbling around with ideas, lore and world-building that makes anime that usually called "mediocre shounen" like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, etc look like Shakespeare.

2nd season would take a lot to turn this thing around. Regardless it's nice to see manhwa becoming another potential source for anime adaptations. God of High School trailers look nice. Hopefully it turns out better than ToG S1.

I also don't like SAO, but I understand why it was popular, at least the first anime was OK, but the rest were trash tier. The premise of being locked into the game and having to climb to the top and work hard was nice, but the character of Kirito was very Mary Sue - everything good happened to him, he was the best and the chick fell for him, it's just too easy and provokes to be hated and disliked as an overall story.

.hack//SIGN was a way better "locked in the game" type of story, SAO is an overrated garbage.

I also watched Tower of God and was scratching my head a lot being confused and whatnot, but in the end, the story ended pretty well for a first season with a nice cliffhanger. I think part of why many people including me and you didn't understand it is that maybe 13 episodes and this little amount of story isn't quite enough to understand it. Also I think the fact that it's non-Japanese makes it a bit different. Japanese anime like SAO fall into many tropes and you can literally watch one episode and you literally know what the whole thing is about, but stories like Tower of God are more non-standard.

I've watched a couple of Chinese anime and they are also a bit different in the way the story is presented and it's honestly a nice change of pace. I think that Japanese anime as of the last 10 years or so has gotten really stale and repetitive and only about 1-2 (max) animes per year are decent-good, the rest are trash tier.

Really good episode, we get Rachel's pov to see why she did the things she did, while this doesn't redeem her it's nice to look inside the mind of Rachel and seeing her thoughts in previous events.

Tower of God was a fun ride and can't wait for more of it

I quite liked the characters of this series, the story was in my honest opinion too slow with all kind of test that eventually didn't reach up to much, I also wanted to know more about the actual tower and Ban's & Rachel's assent to the top of the tower to get their wish granted. That for me would've been a nice ending and while there is room for more the pacing of this series was a bit of a hill so I do wonder if there ever is going to be a sequel and if so what it would provide us in terms of story and character development. In general it was a nice watch.

Pretty decent I guess. Surprised Crunchyroll didn't announce another season, considering how massively popular this show is. Nice job to the ToG fans for spoiling about Rachel since the first episode, by the way.

Needed more of that mysterious red-head girl. She seemed cool, but she's probably evil or something.

I finally finished watching, to be honest, while watching this anime I didn't enjoy some parts.
So this episode mostly focused on Rachel.
Rachel this episode made me interested in her character rather than hating on her, like the rest of other people, she seems like a pretty complex character and really human, her betrayal was indeed a bad thing but I feel like she's my second most interesting characters after Hansung Yu in this anime.
Also thanks to the webtoon readers for always saying they hate Rachel but I don't really feel hate towards her more like I'm interested in her character more now.
I'm not sure if I will continue on with the webtoon or not.

I guess i was expecting way more from this, and got disappointed. I just couldn't like this at all xd the story started with an interesting premise, cool 1st episode, but it quickly got uninteresting for me.. Except for some characters like Kuhn and Yuri who kinda carried this show for me. Well, what i do have to point out is that this final episode managed to make me interested and giving another shot at this if it ever gets a 2nd season, so yeah, kudos for this last episode.

Last but not least... Fuck Rachel

6/10, i believe this anime has the potential to go even further and draw me in easily

Well Rachel is a bitch....very shallow.

Overall this gets a 5/10. The animation style makes the show just look unfinished. You don't get a real ending and who knows if it will ever continue.

Done watching the show. Rachel is the only interesting character in the show. The only one with complexity. Most of the characters are one dimensional and tropey. Bam is shallow and pretty awful.

Rachel might be seen as “bad“ I guess but she’s by far the most human character in the show.

I liked the episode, thought it was really good how they answered some questions about Rachel and her motives, but then created new ones at that. Solid end but I want more!

7/10 for season one but since I liked it and I'm biased. I will bump it up to 8/10

Lots of potential coming soon

It really just ended when things are getting interesting... Well, I'll read the webtoon.
Rachel is a very disgusting person but as a character, she's interesting, I like that. It was particularly interesting to see her internal conflict when it came to kill Bam, and how she ultimately pushed him because she realised he became the popular one. Also interesting to see how she actually clearly liked that Bam was putting her on a pedestal. Of course, since she consequently was his star. But she's completely insane, isn't she ? I really wonder if there is something sadder about her story, what she's been through... I have doubts about it considering how this episode kept insisting about her being a real despicable person at heart but I'm hoping to be surprised.
And now, Bam is finally deciding to walk by himself... But I really feel bad for him. I'm surprised so many people disliked him because at the end, I found him to be pretty endearing. He's like a kid actually... And now he's been betrayed by the one he loved with all his heart.
Overall this show had its flaws, a bunch of them, but it was pretty good nonetheless. The biggest issue would be how rushed it was, too many things were confusing or were lacking some real impact due to a lack of build-up.
But the ost was great (Kevin Penkin, thank you for existing), the story was interesting, the characters all had their own personality and most of them were quite intriguing... So while it wasn't a masterpiece it made me want to see more. I'll raad the webtoon from the beginning considering all the missing scenes, but I can't wait to reach the part where everything really starts.
I give this show a 6/10 ! Flawed, but fine nonetheless.

Overall this adaptation really should have been better..it was still enjoyable but they really dumbed down Baam, Endorsi, Khun etc. as characters and a few moments lacked impact in comparison (ending for an example).

I still hope that we get a second season but it needs to be way better

How is it possible for the tower to pick the wrong person, if it’s like magic, don’t tell me that was cause one was next to the other. So, Rachel’s motivations are all envy and ambition, she wants to be especial, I think that I need to know more about Rachel’s past, in what point of her life she met Bam and what happened before and after that made her what she is. Yeah, Bam is in all a good boy, but if he lived in a cave for almost the entirety of his life, he must be an antisocial, normally attached to Rachel, as I said before, so many things unexplained. I thought that Rachel was a princess and for Hwa Ryun actions, that she was her guide, I think I was wrong. After all, I think Lero Ro is in the same position as me, too much corrupt people in power positions.

I really love the webtoon .And anime if viewed as a separately from webtoon is a 8 just because of story but if seen as a adaptation comes of as very bland like 5or 6 because they messed up multiple action scenes and coulor seemed of it seemed pale where bright is needed and bright where dark is needed i like the door open animation though and yuri looks beautiful as ever but they removed imp diologue like endorsi being attracted and wanting to date bam also name change was stupid should have kept bam also they cut 4th wall break lines etc but I'm overall happy we got an anime of this hope next season animation and story does better job .also shinsu animation makes it look bad shinsu is like air rather than water we shouldn't really see it in attack and lo po bie member should be alive like he said also hammer guy hit him wit long distance shinsu attack it should not have been removed

this episode >>>>>>>> the rest of the series

I really liked how it focused on Rachel. Idk if that's the reason why people hate her, but imo she was portrayed not as a pure antagonist but as more complex, as she is grappling with her feelings of guilt and her envy for Bam. It makes me annoyed but also sympathetic towards her. The OST was godlike. Khun best boy he wanted to meet Bam first because he cares about him a lot more than Rachel.

As for the rest of the show, I thought the pace was too fast and many things were not properly explained, which hindered my enjoyment. I would give it a 5/10 because it seemed unoriginal and all characters are bland (so far)

Pretty good finale. Loved the use of soundtracks and how they gave more explanations to Rachel's actions, they explained the added anime original content where Rachel told Endorsi she can kill everyone (that bothered me at first)

I am a bit bothered with the change where Khun can already tell that Rachel had something to do with Bam's death. I mean its not bad, but wouldn't that kinda affect that one Oscar-worthy scene between Rachel and Khun in the second season? (which I hope there will be) ksjdhfsdf

Story felt rushed at certain points for sure, but it didn't feel like a deal-breaker. The story and world concept in itself is just fun. It's a good watch.

"I wish I met Bam before you”

It almost sounds like Khun knows, or has some idea of what happened.

For me, the most important part of any long running series, regardless of the medium, is the world building. After all, if its a world I'm going to be spending a lot of time in, it better be compelling. Tower of God nails this in a way that very few other shows do. Every detail feels carefully and intentionally constructed, and yet they all flow and fit together so naturally. Absolutely stunning, and I'm sure the webcomic does it even better.

I was SO confused for most of the series, why did the last 3 episodes have to get me hooked?? T__T

"This is the story of Rachel..." suddenly had a very different meaning compared to the beginning and the final episode! I thought it was a bit strange since she's not the main character, but wrote it off. But now I know it's because she wants to be the star. I absolutely loved that. I also wasn't a fan of Bam's character at first, but I can't help but to think of him as a puppy now and felt terrible for him with Rachel's betrayal. I'm so curious as to how he'll handle what Rachel did to him and I'm looking forward to a 2nd season soon!!

First of all sorry for all the people that give their money to Crunchyroll to fund this and also how do those idiots of Crunchyroll can't offer a Korean Dub. I had to use torrents to watch it with the actual pronounciation of BAM instead of Yoru.

This show is horrendous. I can't stand these characters and mostly Bam and his power of luck and convenience and also the power of friendship of climbing the Tower. I guess the lesson here is that being a Simp won't let you become a God.

Quite elaborate plotting from Hansung, and everyone's schemes, with Hwaryun frequently helping backstage.
Wow Rachel more nuts than it seems.
Khun really wanted Khun x Bam instead of Bam x thot. So much future seasons potential with this, and add in Maria & his other brother.
Had to get used to weird color shading for awhile, but overall fun bunch of turtles & some cool fights.

Anime? ..strangely it all felt more like a cartoon show to me.

Watching this it felt like there where at least 1 season i've yet to watch and started blank on season two, thus not really understanding much of what was going on, overall just much confused to be had and thinking 'what is this bs?' over and over again, + not caring for the characters at all made it for a boring watch in my book. 4/10
Completed thanks to 'fast forwarding mode', otherwise easy drop.

well, its true. Webtoon are to be read at 10x speed so considering an anime adaptation of it would normally be slow paced but they should have at least covered more of the story until the

Animation is not up to the mark considering this is an action story. But nobody would deny the fact that the show was over hyped.

We also have The god of high school this season which is another slow paced manhwa. But the title itself is misleading. It is also over hyped...

All in all, this is a good anime. I thought beginning was kind of weak, but as it goes, it proves that it can stand on it's own. Sure, it's not 8/10 anime, but the character is good, twist is interesting so I guess it's 7/10.

I’m surprised to see that many people here didn’t like this anime. I definitely enjoyed it. No doubt that it was overhyped, and the animation was off-putting at first, but it started to grow on me. The characters were good (Kuhn was my favourite, and Rachel the least obviously), and the tests were entertaining to watch. The main issue for me was that it seemed a bit rushed, likely due to the low episode count. I will be reading season 1 of the WEBTOON, as there must be some gaps that’ll be filled there. Overall, I enjoyed this anime more than any other in the Spring season, and there definitely should be a season 2 imo.

Envy drives people mad, Rachel being a prime example. Bam, an amnesiac, naive, kind-hearted, innocent boy whose entire world revolves around her. Seeing him starting to become his person, forming bonds of friendship and individualistic thoughts, becoming a star, felt so wrong to her. How could Bam, who treated her like a literal princess, following her around like a pest, become such a bright, shining star? Due to this, she became susceptible to outside manipulations, Headon, and Hung-Sun, for unknown reasons -mostly from the former- utilizing her nature to the fullest. Her selfish desire to become someone of note drove her to ultimately betray Bam, to take his place as the star of his merry group. While I understand her, I find her, as Headon stated, abhorrently ugly. That, in a way, is the beauty of the miserly, self-centered, egotistical Rachel. After wholly looking back at everything that happened in Rachel's point of view, It made me pity Hoh even more. He was like a complete puppet at the hands of different individuals, such a regretful turn of events for him.

Well, I liked the show quite a bit. Again, the idea of various life forms of different aligned groups engaging in many difficult obstacles to climb a mysterious, gigantic tower has its charm. The music was dope. I very much liked the selection of Osts. I found the artwork and the character designs oddly nice to the eyes. Sadly, the fights, and the animation, were poorly coordinated. And disappointingly, the show left out much-needed details for first-time viewers to understand some of the things that should be known. That, and the inadequate explanations certainly didn't help. Overall, I will give it a sad 6/10.

With this whole prologue of Rachel and seeing all what happened so far from her perspective a lot of things definitely make more sense now, but holy moly she's such an ungrateful and selfish bitch. Sometimes you have to accept things, in this case of her that she's nothing special even if that doesn't mean she couldn't climb the tower "together" with Bam.

I feel bad for Khun, Rak, Endorsi etc. because they think Bam is dead. This will make sure that they fulfill Bams last wish in form of bringing Rachel to the top of the tower. I think the part I hated the most was when she began to laugh. Fuck that.

I love Lero-Ro. I think he made the right decission in quitting his assignment in order to climb the tower.

So was that all planned by Han Sung? The red haired girl helped Rachel to "kill" Bam and now she's about to train him? I hope they will explain the meaning behind that in a second season.

They showed a person with longer hair. I guess he/she will play a bigger role later.

Overall I really enjoyed ToG. It's true it often felt rushed and just to much things happened in one episode. I personally didn't mind it to much but I get why people didn't like it. Characters were extremely likeable. I want to see more of Khuns backstory and also of some other characters like Endorsi.

Would be great I we get a second season. Unfortunately so far nothing got announced but we know that can change fast. So let's wait and see. Definitely looking forward to it.

Wow, Rachel is messed up. I started watching this after seeing people saying they hate her etc. It was enjoyable and I'm excited for season 2, but I might pick up the webtoon before that.
