I want to ask the game players: what exactly was Yachiyo´s wish? Yes, we know "to survive". It reminded me Mami´s wish so I wondered if Yachiyo also happened to survive some disaster or accident or such. Please, write me PM or use a spoiler button, I am really interested in this one. Thank you :) |

Now that it's all said and done and I'm caught up, I really wish I never watched it. By the last episode, the story is such an incomprehensibly idiotic mess of parts, it made me quite a bit angrier than I'd like to admit. Seeing the third reich of magical girls was laughable, King Maminator is a joke, Sayaka's inclusion made me audibly groan, for bringing another character into this dumpster fire. Keeping it very non-cannon is a relief, but if an actual continuation to Madoka proper ever gets made, the Kamihama nonsense will hopefully stay in Kamihama, and it's never mentioned ever again. |

1/10 A worst anime adaptation of amazing game. Like 40% of game content they just cut - Madoka,Homura, changed the ending of arc 6 the one they finish this stupid 1st season. In anime the wings of magius is like some serious military organisation in game it's more like a despair band of fodders and they numbers around 25-30. Another thing that really pissed me off is they made Kaede a feather, KAEDE the one who in 7 arc which is next the one who attack Alina to give her friends time to kill Uwasa. Funny that they show Touka and Nemu so powerful unbeatable foes because they became a total thrash before promised blood in second story. The game ending of this arc was momoko, yachio, madoka, homura, sayaka, rena, kaede all decided to stop magius and Iroha said Ul wait a bit longer i need to save my friends first. Mod edit: added spoiler tag |

I find it funny that the most epic and actionpacked fight was a fight between two of the original characters. But dam this was incomplete as well. This literally couldnt live without a sequel. So many unanswered questions and that cliffhanger of an ending. The most important question I was hoping they'd answer was how the whole not turning into a which thing worked but I guess thats not till season 2. Im not sure how I feel about Magia record now. I started off nice and slow but now that Ive finished it it feels like everything this season was just one big build up for a sequel which is a bit shit. I'd be nice if this could stand on its own at least. That aside the Yachiyo X Iroha this episode was very nice! They were really cute together this episode. Shame it ended with that cliff hanger heartbreak scene. (We know she's fine) At this point Im only sticking with Magia Record for these two since everyone else has kind of gone insane, been brainwashed, wasnt interesting, etc. I hate those two smug girls from the Wings. Yachiyo's "friend" and the leader. The whole Ui thing hasnt made any progress at all which SUCKS!! We still have the exact same answer as the beginning of the series, "She's somehow disappeared and no one knows her. The end" Well I guess this means Sayaka is now involved. Which Im not opposed to since pretty much everyone likes the original cast. I loved Sayaka, she was great. It was interesting how Mami was talking (creapily) about getting Madoka there as well. This whole cult-nazi party thing they've got going on is really weird. I see they're going Tokyo Ghoul route and bringing in large organisations to up the stakes. It does have a very Star wars feel to it with Yachiyo and Iroha and gang being the rebels against a large force. Which could be interesting if they handle it well. Seems about half the cast we know is now with the Wings. It looks like they've been brainwashed but I havent got a clue since they dont tell us half the things they can do cause, sequel bait. Overall, started off good, maintained that for a bit, the most important plot point and the thing that made Magia unique from Madoka wasnt explained at all, and finally sequel bait ending. Season 2 better be amazing to make up for this unsatisfying ending. Luckily Yachiyo and Iroha are now really close so we should see some nice yuri between them next season. (Whenever that comes.) This definitely did not match up to the same quality as Madoka, but I enjoyed it nonetheless because I simply enjoy the world-building of this franchise. They honestly could have cut out a lot from the first few episodes, but I guess the gradual descent into learning more about this cult feels more natural than just shoving it into our faces. I hope all the loose ends get tied together in season 2. I feel like Sana will be important starting next season because we didn't see her in the Magius meeting at the end. What I mostly want to know is how Touka allegedly created the phenomenon of doppels. I also want to know how they're mind-controlling Mami and Tsuruno (and likely Felicia). Kaede feels gone for good though because she seems to have put devout faith into Magius. I also didn't pick up on what they were doing that was so evil besides hoarding witches, but I didn't understand the exact reason. Also curious to know how this lines up with Madoka's timeline. Hopefully season 2 gives me more clarity on all this. |

I really didn't enjoy this series and I really wanted to, the characters seem very likable and cute, even interesting yet I can't shake the feeling that nothing happened throughout almost the whole series. No real feelings of grief, sadness or even happiness for any of the characters some plot points just got pushed to the back and never even finished their arcs let alone barely begin them. And theirs nothing that's giving me the desire to see more if/when a second season arises. It was just really incomplete? And I get that a second season is confirmed and getting produced, but it just feels like 13 episodes got not much more than some character introduction and towards the very end "ho ho look at all those twists and we can be dark too" but it felt like it was paced way too late, and a lot was paced even a bit too early. I don't get what exactly it was trying to accomplish with so many characters and bringing in more right before the series is ending? Too many arcs going on at once and just not getting any attention. Poorly thought out |

So this is the final episode (for now), huh? Yachiyo saying that she's disbanding the team made me think of something. Perhaps she did the same thing back when Momoko was still part of it? I mean, that doesn't really line up with how Tsuruno is still with her. Unless if Tsuruno is just stubborn and won't leave her (and I can totally see her doing that). Or perhaps Momoko decided to part ways and make her own team? Well, this anime is definitely doing Mami justice in a way. She is indeed a veteran, but the original series doesn't really depict her as threatening. Like, we don't see her leering her enemies with a threatening smile nor is she accompanied with menacing music (both are kind of more Homura's thing). Poor Mami, though. She's kind of depicted as "in the wrong" in both of the originals and this spin-off. Sayaka's role in this finale feels like her role in Rebellion. Where she goes to some place and acts as a level-headed figure. In Rebellion, she does assumes that role towards Homura. While here, she does it to Mami. Mami, yeah. She's definitely acting more like Homura in MagiReco. Sayaka seems to imply that she could be possessed, controlled, or something, though. Like, I didn't thought that you could out-Homura Homura. But here we are with Mami doing just that (not really, but you get that I'm kind of joking anyway). Could it be that this anime is somewhat reversing Mami's and Homura's roles in a way? Also, can we talk about the atmosphere Yachiyo gives? Like, the determined face she makes when faced with desperation is so powerful. But at the same time, the smile she gives to Iroha (e.g. in the OP) is so gentle. The way she's designed in that aspect is genius (in my opinion, at least). One thing that I've kind of wondered is how their magic works. Asides from the weapons (or tools) they wield, the magical girls are given some sort of specialty magic as a reflection of the wish they've made. Sayaka has her improved healing (as a result of wishing for Kyousuke's health), Mami has her ribbons (wishing to 'connect to life'), and Kyouko has deception (which isn't really shown in the anime, but is a result of her wish for people to believe in her father). The other girls don't seem to show their "specialty magic" that much? Interestingly, healing seems to be a generic magic they all share (along with other abilities such as superhuman features, etc.). Yeah, this is definitely leaving me with more questions. Hopefully, they'll do even more justice next season! Maybe make it even a two or THREE cour one if needed. Also, WALPURGISNACHT?? |

I didn't expect Mami to go berserk in this episode. Action with her was really good. Sayaka made an appearance. Madoka soon? Maybe? The Wings of the Magius looks more like a cult towards the end... You disband team, Yachiyo?.. ;D Man.. If you don't want to be part of the team - don't be part of the team.. You're not a leader or something to decide about any disbands.. So.. Was Yachiyo's wish to survive?.. Is that it?.. I'm not sure they clearly voice it.. I don't hear it clearly.. Still a bit of mystery left here, or I'm just missing things.. For now, ok, Yachiyo is afraid that wish might have been distorted and made others to die, only her survive.. She fears of that.. But, really, if they'd voice wish more clearly, it'd be more understandable.. Guess, they wanted to leave some mystery there for now.. Eh?.. I mean.. We still don't know anything about Magius, really.. They might have created dopperu mechanism for magical girls, or maybe not.. But what about them controlling witches, and summoning rumours, which lure probably innocent people in?.. What about all this stuff, and their experiments?.. We don't really know, what Magius is, really.. Ok, that Mami freaking out is all weird.. I guess, creators still reminding us this way that Magius is questionable organization as well, not only saving magical girls?.. Which is also question.. Well, duh.. What about rumours and controlling witches?.. Witches - are suffering magical girls, pretty much.. And yeah, rumours made people disappear.. So yeah.. We kinda still don't know anything about Magius at this point.. Dafuq is going on, really.. If anything, this battle is more confusing than anything.. It's not exciting.. It's not epic.. Even if it's drawn as if it should be like that.. I'm still confused, really, about what is going on.. So I can't take it this way.. So.. Magius uses rumours to collect emotional energy.. So.. Basically saving magical girls with the price of other people's lives?.. Is that it?.. Well, so much for true saviors, really.. It's not too bad, I guess.. As it can be taken as philosophy of the survival using resources.. It's understandable.. But really they're not better than Kyubey.. In short: Kyubey is shit; Magius is shit.. ;P Overall.. Eeeeh?.. I guess?.. Wtf is that finale?.. Seems like we're going to the fight of the systems.. Which once was a story about characters, their emotions, thoughts, love, despair, and many other things.. Is turning into political mess?.. I hope that's not the case.. But really, I hope we'll return to more focus on persons instead of some battles of philosophies how everyone uses everyone.. Ok,.. I guess?.. I'm not really interested in this at all personally myself.. Speaking not about episode, but about series overall, though.. I liked it.. I especially liked episode 9 and 10 - they are my favorites.. Especially episode 9.. ;P It's just really nice.. In the end, I care about some of the characters, like some of them.. Maybe my favorite is Futaba Sana for now.. But with finale like that.. I just hope we won't go into political side, and stay more about personal stories, really.. But will see about that, I guess.. This season gets high score from me, because with time I cared about characters more and more, and Futaba Sana's arc was written quite well.. And future.. Will see about future.. ;P |

Mami... what have they done to you? I know you always had a rather weak mindset but being controlled/brainwashed by a little girl may be a bit too much. Pretty bombastic way to conclude this first season if I'm honest. As for the plot, nothing relevant was explained and instead, we got a visually outstanding fight between "Unlimited Musket Works" Mami and our blue and surprisingly badass knight Sayaka. Not gonna lie, her showing up out of nowhere was quite random but I won't deny the fact that I totally enjoyed seeing her display of skills. I mean, she got her arm fucking ripped off yet she kept reflecting Mami's advances while it regenerated again as if it was nothing. Such a sick moment, honestly. On a side note, I also gotta say that Yachiyo's wish of "wanting to survive" really caught my interest. In the great scheme of things, it's a rather ambiguous wish so I hope it receives more focus in the second season considering the negative backlash it may bring. I mean, it may be just me but I particularly like the idea that every time she was about to die as Mahou Shoujo, one of her previous friends "took the bullet" for her due to said wish. Overall, quite average series. Art direction was as good and even more creative than in the main series but other than that, I didn't feel anything for the story nor its characters. Aside from Sana, the rest of the cast felt extremely superficial in terms of character development and I found Iroha to be a rather bland lead MC. She's a Mahou Shoujo yet she's pretty much useless without her Doppel transformations (which at this point, are basically convenient power-ups since she doesn't have any control over them) and her lack of proper reactions to certain events can be really exasperating at times. The sense of actual danger or threat was also missing throughout the entire series and I couldn't be more disappointed in that regard. Especially considering that that feeling of uncertainty was what made Madoka Magica so unpredictable and enjoyable as a result. But here... we all know Iroha didn't die and that at some point, she will control her Doppel form in the needed moment in order to help/save her group. Anyways, leaving that aside, it seems we are up for a "Mahou Shoujo vs. Mahou Shoujo war" kind of storyline considering how this episode ended and that concept alone already sounds cool as shit so at least, I hope the studio can handle the execution in a satisfying way. 5/10 - So considering how particularly dark the preview looked, I personally hope this second season/cour can make things more entertaining and hopefully, redeem this somewhat mediocre story. Alina also mentioned Walpurgis Night so oh boy, things are about to get interesting for sure. |

So. Yeah. I think this show didn't do itself a favour by associating itself with Madoka. It just couldn't live up to the origin story at all. First of all: Too. Many. Mahou Shoujos. Yes, I do like seeing different character designs and different costumes! But no, I don't like when the characters are not fleshed out or when they just get thrown in by the minute so that I have problems remembering their names... It also didn't help that while I loved Iroha's character design, she basically lacked personality. I also think it that from a dramaturgical viewpoint, it didn't work at all. One expects a climax at the end. But how could it be a climax, when all the *gasp* surprising things we get told in the final episode have been clear to the viewer for ages (okay, this is assuming the viewer has watched Madoka first, but I suppose the majority will have done so). They just don't have any impact at all at this point. The Mami fight was nice, but didn't blow me away. Just getting to see familiar characters was, to me, the most exciting about this episode - which isn't really a compliment. The animation was nice, the music was fine. But it just feels like being recycled from Madoka. Also, the scenes with witch/rumour fighting just didn't seem like they could live up to the quality of original Madoka (didn't do a side-by-side comparison). I also had a hard time following the "plot". The things that should have been explained were simply thrown in. What about that Doppler thing? What was it even? Why did it work? What are rumours anyway? I also failed to see the difference to witches. Granted, this might just be me missing the reasoning, but to me, it just left a feeling of disappointment. in a nutshell, the show just felt inconsequential in the end. The episodes barely felt connected. I didn't get to be interested in the girls. Nothing was solved, there was no character progress worth mentioning... What about Ui? This was supposed to hold the show together, story-wise. Ah, so I just have to wait for another season because we didn't reach any point with this? Shows that just "set the scene" but go nowhere storywise except promising plot development in a second season just don't work with me. 6/10 because it was alright. |

I liked this anime overall. It had a lot of problems, but it had a lot of good as well. Still, the pacing is criminal and I have no idea why they changed the beginning of the game here. The people complaining about Mami and Sayaka must be speedwatchers because they literally state very early on that magical girls are very interested in Kamihama City due to all the witches congregating there + the dreams calling them to the city. I want the second season to be 24 episodes. 13 episodes was too short for what it adapted. I don't care if idiots find it boring, I enjoyed the early chapters in the game, it needed to be stretched out more. The second season will really suffer if it's the same length. I won't expect much though. |

It has a few cuts, like there's no prologue and no meeting with Mitama and no adjustment of soul gem before meeting Yachiyo. But in anime she lands directly in Kamihama, meets Yachiyo, little rat, touches it and remembers everything. The only reason I can see for this change is to reduce the episode length. The pacing is alright. The main problem is the scenes change too frequently, which might be distracting. The real challenge for them is to adapt Chapter 7, which might take 4-5 episodes. Chapter 8 and 9 has branch format, which is hard to guess... But say you do it in 5-6 episodes. Now we have chapter 10.. Considering you cut the op and ed... It can be done in 4-5 episodes. This is for a faithful adaptation. But considering they cut some content, they'll fit it in 13 episodes. They can also do a 1 hour first episode. But 24 episodes seem very unlikely. |

I got a bit lost here are there, however I still liked it. was going to give it a 7 but I went with an 8 because I love shaft lol. the original madoka series had a lot less character therefore more focus, which I think I prefered. |

Ugh, it pisses me off so much that they decided to finally get good at the last episode, the rest of the series was pretty much a snore fest, but I'm looking forward to the second season just to see how it ends. ' |

welp, I expected this episode to answer all my questions (who/where Ui is and why Iroha remembers her, why/how some girls have Doppels and what exactly they are, and the deal with the smol incubator). Instead, I got a bunch of ridiculous happenings and even more questions. Why is Mami so absurdly aggressive? Neither Yachiyo nor Sayaka were trying to attack Magius or anything and she just goes berserk on them because...? And Yachiyo apparently has an even more convoluted past than what was first revealed. Guess I'll just go read the wiki for information from the game, this ending was a letdown. |

It's actually not that bad. Saw people complained about it having less "plot". It has plot, just more episodic than their previous work. As far as magical girl transformation genre goes, this is still by far one of the best shows out there (considering what most transformation mahou shoujo anime are like lol) |

Played the game, but imo even as a standalone series this show really wasn't that bad. And I'm completely against rating with expectations in mind. Tbh I kinda felt bad that this show is just 0.1 point above Nanoha Vivid lmao. |
