Animation was noticibly better than the terrible animation we've had so far this season but still nothing to write home about. The 20% stomp and Overhaul fusion were great Sakuga moments among an otherwise still-filled episode. I think we had one new OST but everything else was just reused from the last few seasons. Still, I think in terms of content and action this was the best episode of the season but that's not saying much.

Judging by how things have gone this season so far its going to be a 1:1 adaptation with no flare. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing lasted less than 2 minutes.

I'm a manga reader and I knew this arc would disappoint people because it disappointed a massive amount of manga readers too. I let people convince me the anime would "fix a lot of a the problems" because staunch defenders usually rally between the anime fixing the issues or the content being better when binged as excuses for a shitty arc. A long build up for boring arc and a resolution that doesn't even feel earned. I didn't like this arc in the manga but I flat out hate it in the anime.

It would be worth it if a great amount of effort was poured into those "2min".

True, KnY ep 19's hyped scene is also like 2 minutes, and look what it has caused. It blew up the anime community.

Am I the only one who think that Deku is even weaker than before? Overhaul is weaker than his previous enemies, why Deku can't win? Is it because he's not with All Might? Losing symbol of hope affect his determination?

At this point I am expecting Eri to finally stop being a victim and do something to erase Chisaki's power. She just has to play some role in this.

What makes you say something as wrong as this? All his previous enemies were straight power-types who simply needed a big smack on their head in a Full Frontal. Chisaki, somewhat like Shigaraki, cannot be touched freely. More so, Chisaki has power to revive people and alter matter around him. If that is "weaker" than what we had, then this is all a fantasy.
yellowheartren said:

And wtf is Chisaki, anyway? Barely in the picture at all, and he's just eliminating heroes at a faster pace than the others did in the previous 3 seasons? Who are, btw, totally benched now, apparently. Granted, there's some genuine creepy madness to him (not the first time I wonder about Horikoshi's own sanity tbh), but at this point he's simply OP.

Care to elaborate on either points? So far, at a face value, this seems like meaningless statements that are supported with nothing but your own distaste for the author. Explain yourself in a clear and coherent manner, if able.

Holy crap this episode was amazing, intense through and through. Overhaul gave me the chills throughout, he now looks more dangerous and intimidating than ever. My boy Deku has began to show his resilient badassery while having his backs to the wall, the things which basically makes me love him so much.

The hype for the next episode, which is set to be the climactic part of this arc, is now real. It's gonna be a blast for sure. Go Deku my boy, you can do it!!!

Also all the complaints about the animation that came out in the previous episode can be put to rest now, cuz this episode absolutely nailed it, no questions there.

Nah, 20% One For All also really had great animation as well. You can nitpick all you want but the whole fight had a ton of well/fluidly animated high-speed moments which can't be denied.

A good episode. It was cool to see the psychological warfare employed by Chisaki; he really has 'trained' Eri in the cruelest way possible.

That's what death is, don't you think?

That feeling of despair is really strong and the efforts of Nighteye and even Deku wasn't enough to snuff out that despair. The more the episode went on, the more twisted and desperate Chisaki got. His attempt to call out to Eri, guilt tripping her to return to the battlefield was one of the most tense parts of the episode. It was really well done.

Although the animation isn't super amazing, there was enough moments of the episode, such as Chisaki's transformation and Deku's barrage of attacks, that was animated really nicely. Deku's Manchester Smash was good, but it didn't hit Chisaki sadly.

Despite the despair of this episode, the arrival of the other heroes via the ceiling has given me the renewed feeling of hope. I just pray that Deku's group can win, rescue Aizawa from his unfortunate predicament and, although it looks a bit unlikely, save Nighteye's life as well.

The next episode has me hyped already. =3

I said power-type hoping you would understand the difference. I will explain it in simple terms - others are enhancement or damage powers which made them strong fighters or cunning assassins. Chisaki's powers are on completely different parallels - he is able to transform the world around him. His powers are not so simple that most can just burst through them with brute force alone. Granted All Might would still blow him away and the ground beneath him, but others are not All Might, and they will struggle against a power as complicated as his.

Good episode.

Some nice animation here but my personal favorite moment of the episode was Mirio just telling himself "'Stand! Stand! Stand!". Still trying his best despite everything he's lost. :(
Overhaul's transformation and Manchester smash were great too.

Loved the final scene with Deku saying he'll save Eri.

Only if BNHA is the only anime you've ever watched in your life, lmao it's not even the best show of its season, yet alone of the year.

Also wish the previous ep could've had some of the great animation this one had, fuck Bones sometimes man, of course Deku gets to look all flashy and shine hard despite Mirio infinitely being the better character with his scenes being the strongest of this arc. Excellent priorities, gotta make the MC look the best at all times after all.
Also yeah the direction for this season has been pretty damn poor overall. Completely lacks so much of the flare and love that went into season 2, which was clearly the strongest season of the show, season 3 still had fantastic moments that more than fucking delivered but man it feels like the current director really didn't put in much good work.

Doing some devil advocate (also being one of the guys who were "bitching" about it)

it's kinda Bones own fault they set the standards pretty damn high for themselves with the last 3 seasons and others animes (FMA,mob),so when they took 1,5 years of break to make this season with one of the most hype arcs of the manga people had high expectations,
so when they delivered a okayish season that is not as good as the old ones people felt betrayed/disappointed

Yeah 'cause Food Wars is not a f*cking battle (shounen) anime, so it doesn't really require high quality animation.

Also, it actually has some really good animation(at least until season 3,which is the last season I saw).

While the animation improved quite a bit, the direction is still awful, it's like they complety forgot how to properly use OSTs since last season.

That said, OH's transformation was great.

Idk if I'm being harsher than usual because I'm still mad over last episode's shitshow, but I'm just not feeling anything anymore.

It looks like next ep will be the best of the season animation wise, and while I'm hyped for that, it pains me to see they gave everything into only one fight where the arc in the manga gave us some insane art for every single moment.
ElGoblino said:
People saying animation was godly when it was not. Literally the only thing worth mentioning about the animation is the Overhaul transformation and then only the impact of Deku's kick when the ground shaters (Yutaka Nakamura cut) so like 1/2 sec cause the kick itself before hitting was just a still with some smears here and there.
Next epsisode is probably where it's going to shine though, it will still not be anything to write home about from what I saw in the PV.
It's easy to tell when a show doesn't really shine in the animation department when sakugablog doesn't even have at least 1 article written on it especially for a popular show like this. FGO for example already had like 3 or 4 written, same with Mob Psycho when it was airing multiple articles, not sure why Bones can't have the same quality as Mob for this but oh well.

Y'all have some really high standards for My Hero Academia. Honestly, I thought the animation looks fine. This anime is easily a 10/10 overall. I think everyone just has their expectations set way too high. I really don't know what other animes y'all are comparing this to because I don't see many that can compete with a show like this one.

Literally just mentioned one in my post FGO, MHA as a whole not just this season doesn't hold a candle to that not to mention FGO still has another cour to air when even crazier fights are going to happen, talking about animation in particular btw. This season of MHA has been nothing special a 6/10 for now well see in the future but after people were hyping it up as one of the best arc I am watching this and it literally feels like filler episodes, like it's not even part of the main story, lot of people already mentioned this as well for some reason we just don't care about this arc and Overhaul.

Kinda have to agree with that. The really good thing about the movies was the animation since it had the Sakuga God himself Yutaka Nakamura working on it.
