what was that ost they used in the last minutes????,it's like the director saying "hey this is a cool scene, let's ruin it by using an anticlimactic ost".

Maybe they wanted something more fitting to 'killing your friend' than 'hype and action'

The animation was a lot better in the first episode, not sure why it dropped in this one.

The battle between the titans was cool, but all those info dumps made it seem like a slow episode.

Also why the fuck did I feel bad for Reiner at some point? Smh. Die bitch

The CGI is distracting, they shouldn´t use it for the horses or for the fight between Eren and Reiner.

the only explanation i can think of here is that you are using the literal word translation of sakuga which is animation so all animation to you is sakuga anyway lol

Hmmmm
I have never metioned that before , many shows aren't actually using sakuga like one piece
But you are an expert in shit so you can know who knows sakuga and who don't without saying anything which makes you say so , just keep your judging mindlessly for yourself and Don't judge people's knowledge from nothing

I truly doubt Reiner is dead
Unless the author makes the death somewhat tragic, in a Shounen a character of such importance never dies

Hmmm it seems like a lot of manga readers didn't like the Reiner vs Eren fight, while many anime-onlies didn't see any issues with it. I'm not a manga reader, but personally I didn't have any problems with the fight. Yeah it wasn't as good as their fight in season 2, but I wasn't even expecting this fight to be on that level with all the crazy shit that is happening in this season. Back in season 2, that fight was the most important fight of the season. However, this season seems like there will be a lot more moments of higher importance.

Erwin's inner monologue is my favourite part in this episode.
I'm glad they adapted it. Specially this part:

The OST track was a great touch for this scene.
Also, I find interesting that they decided to add that Levi scene from the OVA No Regrets.

I don't care so much about Eren vs Reiner fight.
For me, Erwin's monologue was the highlight in this episode.

Isayama himself added that in when he drew the manga version of the arc, so its basically canon.

Erwin is the GOAT, the animation was your average aot animation so it was fine, than again these days people think like average=bad so...

Now with that being said they already have 5 AD's here and i've got some info that next episode will be worse, i really wished that WIT would've worked on Vinland Saga later, mixed with the Kabaneri movie Aot's production will suffer.... Really bad

I'd seen those thunder spears on some manga covers, nice to see them in action. And some of those titans were hilarious.

The Erwin scene was okay, Griffith did the standing on dead bodies thing better.

Great episode, we got some strategy talking and also some action. And a new weapon which is actually able to kill the armored titan. Though I'm sure this won't be the end for Reiner, Bertholt still has not appeared yet and he'll probably find a way to save Reiner in the last second. Can't wait to see Levi vs Beast Titan though, this will be awesome.

WIT should never have done a Kabaneri Movie, the whole thing is a waste of resources, should have put all of those resource into AOT and Vinland

The OP is already growing on me, even though I didn't think it was bad to begin with.
As for the Reiner vs Eren fight: obviously it wasn't going to be as good as the one in Season 2, since it's not the climax of the arc like it has been before, and the parts they've shows were still pretty good, so why complain?
Anyway, next episode it looks like it'll be focused on taking Bertolt down, can't wait to see him get what he deserves.

I think there's a similar image of an older Griffith too, but i can't remember exactly where i saw it. Probably in the anime.

First half of the episode was great, then it went down with that weak adaptation. Best part of the episode was Erwin standing above all those corpses. The OST during Eren Vs Reiner was not the best choice, also the thunder spears at the end. I hope rest of the seasons gets better, because what really worries me is that they make us wait for 7 months.

I was really impressed with Erwin's monologue scene. It certainly conveyed the feelings Erwin had within him as he climbed the ranks to where he is now, but the way he was looking down on the bodies, who were looking directly up AT him, felt powerful.

Not surprisingly, the wacko running of the smaller titans returns and it made me laugh with ease, especially the one that kept pointing his fingers in the air while looking up into the sky like a music fan at a rock concert. XD

Animation wasn't as polished as the first episode, but it held up well enough to make the fight between Reiner and Eren look good. Is it as good as their fight in season 2? Sadly no, but I still think the animators did well here, so I'm not disappointed at all.

The thunder spears were really powerful, though. Once Erwin flung Reiner off of him, Hange and the others went for Reiner's eyeballs and nape with the spears and the damage dealt must've been catastrophic. Perfect time for the episode to end on a cliffhanger here, so whether Reiner dies or lives will hopefully be answered in the next episode.

as long as they make it look good and get the job done without overworking each other, im fine with more animators. less animators with only a few months to work on a 10-12 episode season is never good, look at OPM 2 staff work overload as an example

Here's the thing, they do not exactly have them.

Overlapping productions ( Kabaneri & Vinland ) are already spreading the staff thin as it is. Then the breakneck pace of this schedule does not allow regulars to return cause they need a longer windup for their contribution which they simply do not have this time around, so that's gone too. And then the studio's biggest contributor to outsourcing work has closed down a while ago. They do not exactly have the options to just slam more staff on the project.
Who was the biggest contributor to outsourcing work ?

SHIT looks like next week we might see how Marco died!

I'm extremely curious on this "transferring consciousness" thing Reiner did to survive that lethal blow.

Great episode.

Erwin is such an awesome character, love the guy. 'Shinzou wo Sasegayo!!!' never fails to give me the chills. xD
His monologues were pretty interesting, I do hope we eventually get to see the basement this season. It's been teased on for far too long.

Eren vs Reiner was great, the thunder spear scenes were glorious. However, did they actually get him?

Don't have much to say but I'm looking forward to next week.

Huh... the battle between Eren and Reiner was... disappointing to say the least. It wasn't nearly what I expected after a six months hiatus and years of waiting earlier. The animation was sloppy, the directing wasn't good either and the choreography of the figh was also kinda off. But other than that the episode wasn't that bad, and some animation moments were really good as far as I remember.
And lastly I have one more complaint - the cliffhanger at the end of the episode. In my opinion it was rather dull and underwhelming, it could've been alot better.

Let's just hope that the fight between Levi and Beast Titan will be beautifully animated!

These episodes feel so short! And Reiner vs Eren has just started... I wish episodes were 40 minutes long. I don't really know what to think about Erwin: for a moment, I thought he would abandon all of his comrades to go to Eren's basement. We'll see.

And Levi vs Beast Titan. I actually want to see the big guy in action; so far it has only been him throwing out rocks.

Erwin and his inner talk was probably the best scene in this episode, even after Eren's battle, It felt like we have seen this battle before.
Also Hangi thinking up ahead of them with that weapon was pretty awesome (Time for Hangi to shine up).

No the fight was amazing , they showed many details and it's not the main focus of the episode and it didn't take much animation , it's a sure that this fight took more animation than season 2 fight
and the animation quality didn't drop they are trying to level it up and it's working till now , just wait for the main fights of this arc and wit studio will never disappoint you

lol you got to be joking

just look at the previous fight and how much sakuga it has

I think it's okay if the animation quality wasn't as good as the first fight. We already saw Eren win against Reiner so in this season it has no point to put a huge budget in the second fight.

Anyways i thought the episode was FUCKING AMAZING.

Yes, another outstanding episode. I can't help but sit silently in awe every Erwin tries to look at himself in retrospective. One of the most profound characters I have ever seen.
And the spotlight of this episode probably goes to Reiner NOT wanting to die like a real soldier, but actually afraid when he understands he has nothing against the determined and experienced friends of his, ready to pay him back. Obviously he is going to use that power or something he mentioned right before being surprised by the thunder spears, but boy the drama is through the roof, in a good sense.

Reiner transformed into titan and climbed the wall, but Eren transformed into titan (reinforced fists) and ran into Shiganshina, Reiner followed him and started a one to one battle. Erwin localized a titan with merchandise that could be key. Smallest titans started to run to the horses. Erwin sent a group to protect the horses, defeat the titans and Levy to especially go for the beast titan; also he sent a group to support Eren against Reiner. Hange prepared a especial weapon against armor and the soldiers started to attack Reiner with spears.

Great episode, details in Reiner transformation and Erwin's plan are the kind of things that make this anime so wonderful, excellent execution and animation, also OST is great. Reiner is in big problems, but Bertolt is about to appear too.

I think the episode was lacking. The first episode used the OST very well with dramatic and hype tracks, this episode didn’t have the same energy in my opinion, the Eren vs Reiner felt sloppy. What saved the episode in my opinion was Erwin and his backstory/thoughts, that was really interesting.
On to the next episode!

You might be misunderstanding that the story has finally revealed its true self, and spoiler alert back to the previous season it is not about sick titan fights and violence. Okay, they put epic fight music into their fight. Then it gets louder when the scouts with spears come in. And then Reiner is like "I don't want to die" while the music is still epic. But the thing is, they know they are trying to finish off their former friend. So there is REALLY nothing epic about it, and even producers high-light the moral conflict and tragedy of it by not making the moment a YOU SAY RUN or something.
