Katsuki Bakugou from Boku no Hero Academia. It had never happened to me that a character could completely ruin my enjoyment toward a series, but oh well. An aggressive, egocentric bully who endlessly disrespects, mistreats, verbally and physically abuse people (even teachers and adults) who always gets away with it, because the author has had to come to terms with the fact that he was super popular. Because of it, he does things which makes anyone with a bit of ethic and morality ask what the teacher have been doing with him and the answer to this is nothing: this character lives outside of the plot and the narrative environment since if every other person in BnBa would do what he does, they'd probably be punished - obviously and rightly, by the way. What made me smile the most were his classmates: not only they don't are affected by his behaviors, no no no! They even respect him and consider him a true comrade. That's simply disgusting. We are talking about a character who started bullying who was mentally and physically weaker than him since he was a little child, and he never, EVER, thought about what he does, the harm and sorrow that he causes, because he is simply that: a conceited, spoiled, loud-mouth brat who thinks so highly of himself that everybody just need to shut up and hail for him. It's disgusting. It ruins the story because the author doesn't want to let him grow and face his crimes, because he doesn't want to let go of his overpopularity. This creates a contradiction within the story, because it makes it sound like in BnBa bullies are accepted and even worshipped. In a world where superheroes fight supervillains... Simply revolting. I personally consider myself a strongly emphatic person, so I have been learning to accept and understand every kind of character, even the worst written ones. This was and still remains the only time a series was completely ruined because of a character. |

I just tried watching again but after the third episode just couldn't go on because that woman is so bloody annoying. She feels righteous and acts without thinking. She doesn't even try to see the point of view of the other person tries to force other people to adopt her view. How utterly, utterly annoying. |

Sachi and to a lesser degree Danpei from Ashita no Joe. The sound quality of the series is not particularly good and that gives a boost to Sachi's already annoying constant screaching. While Danpei just screams "Jooooooooooe" half the time he opens his mouth. |

Subaru from Re:Zero. The show itself was really good: art, animation, story, music etc. were great, but Subaru (when he wasn’t on the verge of death or just “resurrected”) felt more like a comedy anime protagonist, not a psychological-drama one... it really turned me off... I would have preferred a little more serious MC (someone who inevitably keeps dying wouldn’t be a happy-go looking dude, even if it is or isn’t a facade). |

I was really digging the whole I’ll be the shield and you’ll be my sword thing Naofumi and Raphtalia had going on, but then Filo joined the mix....... The show felt somewhat generic after her introduction, not to mention Naofumi now has a harem. The show had so much potential. Quite a few people recommended this show to me and I honestly don't get it. The show was fine for the first few episodes up until Filo was introduced and now I can't stand it. I don't feel like looking up the characters name but the girl in Little Busters, listening to her made my ears bleed. |

In most cases, the MAL Average Scores don't mean anything, here is a question: were the works made before 2000 all shit? Why are they so damn scarce in the Top 50? Think about how MAL is quite literally a filtered amount of the Anime fanbase. Here's a timeline of the Top 15 in which you can check that, almost always, the scores are affected by the freshness, popularity and other factors that have nothing to do with quality. |

In order: - Emilia from re:Zero, the obsession to her was plain annoying. - Boruto ruins his own show. - Lucy from Fairy Tail And for characters that ruined parts of their show; I know it's not relevant but I have to include these: - I despised Winry from FMAB. She kinda ruined the ending for me. - Asuna from SAO REALLY ruined some parts of the show at times. (Not to be offensive in any way, but I've just noted that most of the characters on this forum are/will most likely be female). |

Rolo, from Code Geass. Goddamn what a useless, stupid character. I hated him from his debut during the first episode of season 2, and hated him until the very end. I'm just gonna repeat a lot of characters already mentioned here. My top hated characters in order. Taking the #1 spot is the overhyped psycho -Rem from Re:Zero, the hype around this character boggles me to this day, then again, people are into them psycho girls nowadays, like the real life yandere incident that happened recently, weebs are fucked up. Kirino from OreImo, Tsundere + end girl + real sis = shit, actually, calling her shit is an insult to the word. -Bakugo and Midoriya from MHA, Yet another one that I can't understand, how can people love a bully like Bakugo? with Midoriya I can understand as he's the type of character that undergoes development, but I simply cannot stand wimpy characters. Luffy from OP, If you thought Goku was dumb, then you havent seen this boy take it to a whole other level. Boruto and Sakura, Combined these 2 for.. I don't really need to explain the hate around these 2 do I. Erza and Natsu, I know plot armors are a thing in shonen shiz but Erza and Natsu takes it to a whole new game, there is literally nothing you can stop these 2 from doing, God almighty himself can come down from the heavens and Erza with both hands and feet tied behind her back with her eyes closed can still whip his ass with Natsu in the BG yelling "YEEE, for our friends!" Ume Shiraume from Ben-To, this fcking bitch takes being a bully to level beyond lunchboxes, bad gay character to boot. Shitoge from nisekoi, I mean, come on, Marika best girl ayt! that aside, I despise her tsundere antics, most of the time I'm fine with tsun tsun's nowadays but this character is unbearable. Tomoko Kuroki from WataMote, she is simply too cringe to watch, and I can't believe I was able to finish that damn show. Saitama from OPM, I don't really dislike him, but his existence in the OPM world makes it uninteresting, I like OP characters but this guy is too strong for his verse, a misplace, up to this point I always root for his new opponents to somehow shove his face down. |

I'm surprised there are people like me who thinks that Homura and Madoka destroyed ''Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica'', but I don't understand people who hate Kaneki Ken(Tokyo Ghoul) or Yukiteru(Mirai Nikki), they r just kids dragged to the real horror. I wonder how you'd behave if you were in their shoes. P.S I also think that Gay Gai from ''Guilty Crown'' had a very negative impact on my experience with this anime. |

I don't believe a character can ruin a whole show, I certainly have yet to experience this at the very least, but I think that most of these are bad to begin with, and wouldn't magicaly get better by changing these characters. Either way, there certainly are characters that make shows worse than they should be. I've found the blonde idiot from Clannad extremely annoying. Or the antaognist of second arc of SAO was absolutely frustrating to watch and I question what's in the author's head to believe there was anything good about including him. Or some characters certainly can sour the experience of a good show too, like already mentioned Rolo or S&W's blond guy from s2 But yeah, annoying people are annoying and you can't go around it, unless you pretend they dont exist |
