A Really good episode, with everything from the show in it: the melancholy in the graveyard (maybe they should have kept that radio), the fear and the anxiety in the tower and finally seeing the girls' cuteness while drunk ^^ (still, seeing them dancing near the edge of the Platform made me panic O.O )

One of the best épisodes so far for one of my favourite show of the season

Graveyard.

That "path" was about the scariest thing to happen in this anime so far. They sure aren't going back the way they came.

Yuuri sure loves her sticks.

They drunk.
... and were getting closer to the edge! Dang this anime loves to tease danger.

chichan is the only one who get drunk here and she's got yuu on her side. so it'll be fine^_^

yuu ain't drunk, she looks completely sober. it seems like, she has a higher alcohol tolerance. and once again, yuu has saved chichan's life. she's like her guardian angelπŸ˜†

definitely one of the best anime of this season

Even late at night, Japanese broadcast standards don't let minors drink(part of the reason for that drunk-on-the-scent trope). However, Yuuri and Chiito's ages are never firmly established, so there's still technically room to back out(though I don't see why they'd want to).

I'm curious about something. I too had a favorite part of this episode but no one is talking about it. So I'm wondering whether people noticed it and simply didn't see it as important, or if people missed it due to how the scene was (which the makers of the show likely intended).

Did anyone notice when Chi kissed Yuu?

It was very VERY quick but if you go to around 18:35 or to the scene when Yuu went all "psychotic" for the moon and Chi pushed her to the ground, for what probably lasted no longer than five (5) seconds, Chi lightly kisses Yuu in the face.

I interpreted this as a subtle and quiet way (besides the snuggling) of showing these two young women see each other as more than just friends or traveling partners despite the show seeming to not be willing to show them as "lesbians" or something similar up until this point.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it doesn't matter. I'm just sharing my thoughts. Good episode, like usual.

If it's true, I also notice it, and it seems to me true. Chii-chan kissed Yuu on the face and she kind of gives him a little disgusted.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the two of them had a closer relationship, of the loving type, both are practically adolescent, and they are also alone, it may be that those feelings have been awakening with the long trip that they have had together. Those things are very normal to happen when you travel so long with someone. πŸ’™πŸ’› :3

Also the chapter was beautiful, we could see another face of Chii-chan and Yuu, more free and lovely , as well as entertaining and sweet....

Ok so this time we got 3 stories or chapter but it was a entertaining episode having this philosophical thought of people being remeber by leaving something precious in their graves and we get another of those religious statues and we als get them ascending to a new level plus the way they see life as and finally the most fun par them wondering around finding beer and getting drunk and fooling around plus chi having a hangover next morning.

well, perhaps curiosity gets the the best of her.
Imean, who would not like to drink a sparkling golden water? looks tasty u know.

and it ain't smells like fuel or somethin so it can't be poisonous u knowπŸ˜‚
on top of that, yuu said that it was kinda sweet and bitter. so where's the harm then? Lol,

it should also be noted in the previous episod they learned about sweet stuff. its highly possible chichan might be thinking sweet stuff can't be bad for u or somethin along those lines.

I was thinking "What kind of beer would be sweet enough for kids to like it?" but after watching Imouto Sae Ireba ii inmediately after I realized that in Japan there's a bunch of sweet and fruited beers... it's still weird for me xD some company came up with a fruity beer in my country a few years ago, and while I did find it tasty it just wasn't the same, in the end it flopped, guess we like our beer bitter over here.

Still, their drunk dancing was really cute, and that ED <3

Guess by this point that sense of dread I usually feel has faded. Despite how dangerous the situation during the spiral bit was, I didn't feel like they were really in trouble like I used too. Though it makes watching them have fun and get drunk more entertaining since I don't have that feeling of dread constantly looming over me, it also loses a bit of the charm I felt originally.

They're definitely more than just friends, but I can't say I see them as lovers or anything like that. Their interactions with each other are quite similar to my cousins at times, so I see their relationship as more along the lines of sisters.

You missed the point. Chito apparently never heard of beer so she couldn't know it was drinkable, that's why it's surprising to see her drink it without hesitation since she's usually pretty cautious.

That settles it, Chi and Yuu can't be minors, seeing them drunk was really fun.

Do they even know about minors and risks of alcohol?

There are several arguments that can be made why the beer got a pass from censors, if we assume they're minors. They simply found the bottles, they didn't have to purchase it. Perhaps the setting itself serves as an excuse. Their world is very different to ours and there's no one around to enforce any laws. They might not know what alcohol or beer is (the term beer didn't sound familiar to Chito and she didn't seem to understand why her head was hurting the next morning).

If they did know about alcohol and assumed that beer contained it, the beer may have been non-alcoholic and the girls were merely "placebo drunk."

It's also possible that the reason why the censors were okay with the drinking is that their ages are ambiguous, due to the moe potato designs and the lack of any confirmation.

If we think about it tho, the answer is pretty simple actually.

u know that Japanese all stay the same until they reach a certain age, at the age of 50 yearsπŸ˜‚ and being Moe is even worse than that, you literally stuck at a very certain form of growth. which is make u look like grade schooler or at the very best look like middle scholerπŸ˜‚ for the rest of ur life period. DId they find some kind of radio/communicator at the very beginning? Makes sense it wouldn't work now...

"Who was Kanazawa again?" How did Yuuri seemingly forget someone who was important on their journey so quickly? I know she's meant to be a bit of a ditz, but geez...

Things got a bit more melancholy this episode...Chito and Yuuri found graves, with nobody who's still remembering said graves.

"Everything seems so dangerous that I actually start thinking everything'll be fine." Maybe Yuuri is the smart one.

"So let's hurry and get to the top so we can get back to those usual days." Yuuri is really optimistic about what'll be at the top...I guess that's their end goal, huh? This show is kind of the opposite of Made in Abyss. While Reg and Riko were trying to go lower, Chito and Yuuri are trying to go higher.

The second Chito and Yuuri found those "glass containers" I knew what was going to happen."Wow, it's golden water." Err...not quite. The two of them got lit...Chito actually seemed relaxed for once. If they had regular access to alcohol, I would suggest they get drunk more often.

How old are Chito and Yuuri, anyways? Old enough to drink, I guess; Japanese TV is pretty strict about that stuff.

Climbing that tower was very philosophical: life is like a spiral, which presents deviations from time to time. The narration is always very sad and melancholic, but the ending has diluted the bitterness seen in the first part of the episode. On this occasion the roles were reversed, now is Chito who crunches Yuu's hair. XD
