| Hello everybody, and welcome to yet another Anime Roulette. This time, it's the 16th edition, and it comes with significant changes for the first time in a while. For those who participate for the first time, this is a game in which everyone who wants to participate submits an anime. When the sign-up time ends, every participant will get a random anime that other used has submitted (you can't get something you already have in your list, except the Plan to Watch list). From that moment, you have 2 months to watch your anime (ideally you watch it in one). Make sure to read the rules before participating. For those who participate, read this, and read well because as I said earlier, there will be changes, especially in penalizations. The most important one is aimed at rewaring regular participants in those tough months when you get something that they really don't like. To do that, I'll introduce a point system. Every time you finish your anime before the next roulette starts you will get 1 point, which can be used to reduce any penalisation by 1 month. I know there are some of you who don't need this and will complete your anime anyway, but the goal of the roulette isn't to make people suffer, but to watch new things. I'm giving points for past editions those with 5 to 10 successful participations will be awarded 5 points, while those with 10 to 14 successful participations will get 8 points. This edition will count as the first which will award points normally. There are more changes regarding penalizations, essentially clarification for what you can or cannot do. I recommend reading over that part because I believe none of us (and I include myself) really knew it. This won't be retroactive so that I don't do any more bad to JohnDowson. I also clarified how to say you actually do NOT want to get one anime so that there's no confusion between joke complaints and actual claims. Last, but not least, there are two changes for submitting anime. Even though nobody was using this, I changed when you can submit two anime instead of one (yes, you could do that). Now there's only one case instead of two, and it's more limited. And now you cannot submit airing anime. 8 points jimanator Demonarion Conde_Mohr PhKay The_Goodsman iN3krO SeidouTZ 5 points Kappa_Pie zombie_wolf Emilia_Scarlet Celine3107 Unthinkable92 1) Anime you cannot submit:
2) You must watch your anime within 2 months. The ideal is 1 month, but I know sometimes one just doesn't have the time to finish it, so you have 1 extra month without penalties. To be able to nominate for the next roulette, you need to have watched at least 50% + 1 episodes from the last Roulette and have no active penalties. I'll invalidate your submission if at the time I randomize you don't meet these conditions. I'll look them up in your list, so you should keep it updated. If I noticed that you didn't meet that criteria but you changed the episodes watched at some point to deceive me, I'll penalize accordingly. 3) You can submit a substitute anime in case yours has been started by a minimum of either 25% or 3 participants. If you add an anime that everyone else in the roulette already has seen, I'll put that entry on a 5 months cooldown and use the substitute, if there's any. If there's not, or your substitute has the same problem, I'll pick a random anime from your 20th percentile of your ratings (I may change that number in the future, I've never worked with percentiles before). If your mean score is higher than 8, I'll add a layer of personal opinion to that randomization and re-randomize if I don't think the anime is good enough, regardless of the score. If your mean score is between 3 and 4.5, I'll randomize with everything higher than your mean score and add the same layer of personal opinion. If your mean score is lower than 3, I'll do the same thing with every anime in your list. 4) I reserve the right to change these rules at any time. I'm not perfect, don't try to abuse the rules just because I missed something. In any case, I will try not to apply rules retroactively if they don't benefit users, unless there's something blatant. Penalizations Penalizations are in effective the month you drop your anime. You have 2 months to watch your anime, and after that time your anime will be considered dropped. Dropped anime will get the maximum penalty according to how much of it you watched before dropping. If you don't declare your anime dropped, you will get penalized with the maximum penalty according to how many episodes you watched. If you finish your anime, your penalty will be reduced to the minimum (according to how many episodes you watched in time). You can also declare your anime dropped during the month you got your anime instead of waiting for the time to run out. If you do that, you'll get the penalisation according to how many episodes you watched before dropping. If you do that, you cannot pick the anime again and reduce the penalty time that way (technically you can pick it up again, but it won't reduce it either way). Minimum penaly Penalization depends on how many episodes you watched in time. Numbers are rounded down.
Dropped Penalization depends on how many episodes you watched in time. Numbers are rounded down.
Penalization time is long, and sometimes you get something that you really cannot stand. You have the choice to say you don't want an anime (it's explained later in this post), although it's not unlimited if you haven't read/watched/played/whatever the source material or an adaptation. For situations like this, there is a points system. Every time you watch your anime in 1 month, you will get 1 point, which can be exchanged for 1 month of penalization when applicable (you need to tell me how you want to spend your points, I won't tell you to do that). I will not display current points for everyone, although I'll keep the count. If you want to know how many points you have at any given time you can ask me. This is a test rule, and it may be changed if deemed necessary. Lastly, there are cases when someone can have more than one anime to watch. The most common by far is starting a new roulette before finishing the last roulette's anime, and not completing any of them. In those cases, every single anime has its own penalisation with its own expiration date. That means that reducing one penalization (via points or via completing it) leaves the other one(s) active. I'll start randomizing on the 1st of September, so make sure to submit your anime before that day. Once randomized, you will know what anime you have to watch, and you should watch it before the month ends. You can't submit the first 50 anime in this list (at the time you did your submission): https://myanimelist.net/topanime.php?type=bypopularity&limit=0 Also, you can't submit these anime because they were submitted in either of the two previous roulettes:
Anime submitted and watched 3 times in 16 editions (1 year and ⅓) get an extra 3 months cooldown for a total of 5 editions without being able to be picked. Anime that almost everyone has seen also gets the extra cooldown. I only count those anime who have been completed in time, meaning that if someone didn't watch an anime when they should (and got penalised because of it), that nomination doesn't count for this. Anime which got submitted too many times or not enough people watched:
If you have watched the source of an anime and you don't want to watch the adaptation, or if you have strong feelings of animosity against it (you have to say why, and I won't accept the likes of "I don't like the genre" as an excuse. I'll definitely keep in mind if you systematically try to avoid anime for no evident reason), please SAY SO before the randomization starts. To say that, if you watched the source you don't need any specific format, but if you have other reason (strong feelings of animosity) you have to stress that you do not want the anime by either bolding or underlining the not. Once everyone gets their anime, the only reclamation I'll accept is that you already have your anime in your list or that you already told me that you didn't want it in a proper way. @Azuremyst - Kaze no Shoujo Emily @Celine3107 - ReLIFE @Chaionne - Barakamon @ChubbySorcerer - Fractale @Conde_Mohr - Maria-sama ga Miteru @Demonarion - Potemayo @jimanator - Jin-Rou @Loli_Shogun - C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control @M1styc_Official - JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (TV) @PhKay - Canaan @Punkero - Kuuchuu Buranko @SeidouTZ - Genshiken @ShadowMonkey - Kiznaiver @SheyCroix - Hoozuki no Reitetsu @smhmines - Hibike! | @Kappa_Pie and @Celine3107 may be especially interested in the new rule changes. I'll try to advertise this, so I changed the rules to try and get more permanent participants, while also clarifying some things that were ok in a small community but not so ok with strangers. If @zombie_wolf finally does the randomizer I asked her, I may remove some restrictions. The restriction to anime nominated too many times may get removed too if we have 20 or more participants consistently. Please let me know what you think about the new changes. You're too fast, jim, I was going to reserve the second post xD |

Thanks Conde, I really appreciate the changes and also being notified. As you mentioned in the info above "the roulette isn't to make people suffer, but to watch new things.". I agree! So I'm glad regular participants won't necessarily have to wait so long before participating again if we end up with an unlucky draw. Also glad that you've clarified how to properly let you know if an anime is unwanted. If that ever happens to me again, I'll make sure to be very clear about it in advance. Fingers crossed it won't, I try to have an open mind and give any series a chance! If I've understood the points system and my penalty correctly, I currently have 5 points to use and 3 months of penalty remaining. I'd like to use three of those points now and participate in the upcoming round. If I may. If so, my nomination is ReLIFE (which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise for me! And it only has 13 episodes) Substitute, if needed: Zankyou no Terror |

| Thanks to SheyCroix for promoting this, the boost in participation is nice :D I wasn't talking that much about it, but I might as well let you know. I only need a substitute if I think you're trolling or if almost everybody has watched your anime. If your anime is #1000+ popularity it's almost guaranteed that at least 3 people haven't watched it, and even if I've watched the anime/know opinions of it saying it's bad I won't turn it down unless I really think you are trolling (it hasn't happened in either of the 15 editions). So far, the only anime this edition which may need a substitute is Barakamon, and that may not even be the case. I may have given too many points for 5-10 participations, but now that I'm thinking about promoting this is a good moment to reward those who remained loyal up to this point... or something like that. Please try not to use the points if possible xD SeidouTZ said: So in order to rail to the top and gain as many points as possible you need to take out the other participants, and be the very best neet in the world.
