Well, I normally have the good sense to avoid shows that are ridiculously generic but some will slip through the cracks every now and then. I think the most generic show I've watched was this https://myanimelist.net/anime/31914/Shoujo-tachi_wa_Kouya_wo_Mezasu But I highly doubt that's the most generic show ever. I mean, making a visual novel isn't that common of a premise. After all, I haven't checked out shit like this https://myanimelist.net/anime/35203/Isekai_wa_Smartphone_to_Tomo_ni |

My first choice would be Dragonball (Z) - don't wanna repeat the reasons again -, but the others are Tsubasa Chronicles and Tales of Zestiria & Granblue Fantasy & Chain Chronicles. Although I rated the last three anime with 7 (by ToZ the 2nd half), because they were nevertheless very enjoyable and I loved the styles, colors and openings and endings. Chain Chronicle had also a quite different storytelling. Tho the plot of them were as a whole like an educational book for authors "How to write all the clichés in High Fantasy." ^^" |

Guys lets not forget ammm...Seraph of the End. It's just awful in term of originality. It's like a mix of every battle shounen out there. It was bearable because of the beautiful art, but the friendship and family babling made me drop it in the end. It was trying to top Fairy Tail in that cruteria. The anime was even worse lol! But still, nothing can top Fairy Tail in terms of noncostistent and cliche plot, deus ex machina, zero well handled characters and so on. It even managed to make me not care about one of my favourite nuts characters, which is just impressive tbh |

@Takamura-sama Onodera is the only true childhood friend they studied and grew up together ... Fuck this gorilla for ruining everything @SenpaiJay98 Major and Yu Yu Hakusho dont count , the romance is not even the main point here 'i said pick childhood friend over tsundere' , in other words i want to see a tsundere get rejected ,in kanon there is no tsundere that anime don't exist yet and maybe will never |

In "Orange Road", the hero starts in a new town, so apparently no chance for a childhood friend. And then, the final episodes reveal... Anyway, it already exists. ^^ edit: add Love Hina where the hero dreams about finding the girlfriend of his early childhood because they made a promise to be together. @tragedesu But Hikaru is only the other girl's childhood friend (she might be "nice" but she 's mainly the over-energetic girl of the show), while
the other girl has a childhood relationship with the hero.
Also, I don't know what "to be cucked" mean but Hiyama Hikaru is "kept" by the hero partially because she's a safe bet (not only) |

It's such an over played theme. The whole virtual reality thing . The MC is op. plot is ookay . SAO isn't the first... it does first to popularize it since before it, it's pretty much some really obsecure series or some arc inside bigger series... yeah SOA was definitely not the first..... ///Hack and a few others came out waay before SOA hack and SAO is come together... it's impossible to each of them take idea from others... my earliest memory about certain people trapped in game (instead transported to game world which already popular in early 90's) was yureka (or iD_eNTITY when it was still web version).... erm i think i know what your trying to say? i didn't say SOA took idea's from hack my point was just that SOA is a generic anime. The whole stuck in a game has been done before the MC has little to no character development and there's nothing about it that really stook out to me that i haven't already seen. Then they made a second season that was just like the first one even like that, the concept of trapped in game it self doesn't generic at the time... i'm honestly finding it kinda hard to get what your trying to say :( i'm sorry My point. SOA is generic lol you can argue about character, or plot, or developement... but the settings (which trapped in the game) is definitely isn't... I would have to say it is. it's something i've seen many times before. Ixion Saga , hack, log horizon, Hai to Gensou no Grimgar, I could list more if you want all of them come after SAO.... that's like saying dragon ball z generic because there is bleach, naruto, and OP... that's make no sense... no they didn't? SOa came out in like 2014-13 Hack was from like 2001 lol the others I don't know their anime release dates SAO is adapted from LN that originated as draft to LN competition in 2001.... fair enough i didn't know it was being made THAT early considering it game out 12 year's after hack, but okay haha Monster rancher came even before that just sayin. aren't they more like different dimension rather than trapped in game? like digimon.... i think jumanji even more qualify than that... |

Asterisk Wars is the most generic LN anime I have ever seen with nothing going for it outside of boring paint by numbers. |

Kuma said: I never said they did IS. I said they make a bunch of generic LN adaptations of shows that are almost exactly the same as it.The_Missing_Link said: Something from A-1. Probably one of their Infinite Stratos clones. infinite stratos is not even A-1... WTF? xdxdxdxd |

Rei366 said: In "Orange Road", the hero starts in a new town, so apparently no chance for a childhood friend.
Also, I don't know what "to be cucked" mean but Hiyama Hikaru is "kept" by the hero partially because she's a safe bet (not only)
Plot twist: in love hina, my first and one of my fav anime, Naru is a tsundere AND the childhood friend. |
