Are there any girls that like Yuri?

Coming from a conservative Asian family, they tend to look down upon homosexuals but as I grew up in London, even people of the same age group have diverse opinions on the matter. Some good, some bad. But most of the time people don't really care/mind as much these days due to media exposure and changing attitudes. |

| I think its perfectly fine for a girl to like yuri i have a few friends that like both yaoi and yuri. To me as a guy I don't mind watching either as long as it doesn't end up too explicit. But I watch anime to be impressed by a good story-line not for the explicit side of it. And love comes in all forms not just male and female relationships. But I'm straight. |

Well, it depends on the environment you're also in, I guess? Sometimes, I hear both of those sentences. Thankfully, I think I'm in the good part of the crowd because I more often hear the first question asked in a light way. I have a friend that is openly liking porn and stuff, she's a straight female, and she likes joking about lesbian stuff. But when she sees gay stuff, she immediately goes "ew". So it all depends.... or something. |

| I myself only like it if the story/dialogue is really interesting, or if they are only the subtext. Personally I like strong and warm-hearting female bond/friendship, like in shoujo, magical girl or CGDCT shows, but I just don't really enjoy when it has too much physical touches like Sakura Trick, or when it has too many fanservices like Yuri Kuma Arashi, and KLK (the last one I think is also because the jokes just aren't my cup of tea). |

| Source : I am a woman Yes. I like yuri / shoujo-ai, especially if it's written and/or drawn by women. Why? Diversity and representation aside, here's the reason why I love yuri: 1. I like to see relationship between two women. Google "Top 10 anime best friends" and you can guess most of them are man-man friendship. Bromance they say. No to mention in shonen or shoujo most girls are either rival to win a guy attention. Google best anime romance and most of them are straight. Relationship between two women, whatever platonic or romantic is very few and undermined. I like friends became lovers trope. 2. Don't conform gender norm. If you look at het romance, most of them like this. Guy meet girl. Guy save the girl several times. Girl fall in love. Beside Attack on Titan, I rarely see where the girl is stronger / taller / richer / smarter than the guy. Even if the girl is strong somehow the weak male lead manage to be stronger than her at the end of series and beat her ass. I like to see girl protect another another girl please. And girl support another girl like in magical girl show. |

But that's not the case. Like others have said, you could be a straight girl and enjoy yuri. Heck, you could be a lesbian who's into yaoi. Who knows? I mean romance is cute; no matter what gender it's between in my opinion. But I like looking at girlxgirl relationships a lot compared to straight or yaoi relationships. I just find yuri fluffier and cuter... I got lots of yuri ships I wanna keep adding 'em up. |

| hihihihihihihihi me yes me I'm kinda gay though, so.. not quite what this thread was looking for. but daym, I love yuri/shoujo-ai because of how gentle (at least it usually is) things play out. they aren't usually forced, and they.. well, capture femininity in a tingling lovey-way that'll give heartaches for days. I watch this stuff, and the end/acts make me feel as if I need something similar in my life too (just not torture, I'm not quite sure how many yuri variations there could be, so still focusing on the main lovey-dovey style) I would like to say that I couldn't read the OP in this state of the night, so.. sorry if I'm completely off-topic here. |

I personally enjoy any sort of romance that doesn't conform to the more generic and overused stereotypes, cliches, and tropes. However, I also like watching anime or reading manga about strong platonic relationships. What's really annoying for me is when one character is obviously attracted to another for the entire series while they remain friends. That's just as bad as the "prince in shining armor" crap, I think. Platonic or romantic, both are good, but not half one and half the other. |
