If we're using that anime as a baseline for "hidden gem", then I guess Gallery Fake would be my hidden gem recc. It's a fucking good anime... about restoring paintings and identifying fakes. Paintings! Like, this sounds like it should be boring, but it's really damn good! Also it had a Better Call Saul lookalike character before Better Call Saul even aired, which is a cool bonus. |

| The Vision Of Escaflowne should be included in this list. I haven't seen anyone really talking about it. It includes many genres, for example Isekai, Mecha, Romance (Love-Polygon) and more. Also visually it's quite good for a 90s show. Btw the German Dub is very good, but it's very unlikely that someone is going to watch it with it. |

| Aishiteruze Baby. I love it and it's in my opinion the most obscure anime i've ever seen. Nobody's seemed to have heard of it, It's not on any legal streaming site, has never had any sort of official release in the west. And yet YouTube reuploads are taken down despite the fact whoever owns it doesn't care anymore and hasn't released it in any way for it to be accessible. Please Teacher. It's flawed and carries a lot of my disliked romance tropes but damn is the story compelling and has a lot of unique traits unseen otherwise in anime. For example the characters actually sleep together and it's used as part of the story, not fanservice. A genuinely wonderful romance. And hands down my favorite OP. |

| Mugen no Ryvius has excellent character psychology and frequently questions morality, with it all being fitted into a simple yet captivating plot. For me, its emotional value was very heavy. For something lighter, Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san hits the right spots with its unique visual direction and heartwarming, sincere message carried out by a great cast. |

| Scrapped Princess - Nothing amazing, but a fun fantasy anime that takes some interesting turns towards the end. Blue Gender - I love this anime. An amazing sci-fi / horror / action / mech / romance anime. This is always my answer to "what anime do you want to see get a remake?" because I feel like this show with a big budget and modern production would be a hit. Aishiteruze Baby - Saw this one mentioned already and have to second it. I adore this show. It's just so charming and sweet. |

At least Escaflowne has great animation in it's favor... but that kinda just makes it burn even more that the plot went out of wack

A few of them are fairly recent, but seemed to have flown under the radar despite being great watches. |
