Gah. Even when I knew he was dead, after they left the hospital and seeing his backpack still there, then him asking her the question, but I still bawled like a baby lol.

I love this series. Breezed though it. Two things that I couldn't stop being bugged by and that I felt I had to vent about, as they sort of brought down how good this series could have been, were:

1. How rude everyone was. People bumping/pushing/spilling food/hurting Mirai and they were almost always downright nasty to her, even before the quake. Yes society and people now-a-days are rude, but it just felt like they pushed it way too hard. Too unrealistic.

2. The fact that almost every bad aftershock that happened was when they were right by a major place that collapsed and they "just missed it". When they were walking to the boat and the highway collapses right in front of them, the bridge collapsing when they were on the boat, Tokyo Tower collapsing right next to them, the building next to Mari's work collapsing (the only one on the street). Possibly more but I didn't really try to recount them all to memory (but it happened enough that it just made me go, really? Again? And again?).

It's like they continually kept reminding us viewers how realistic they tried to make everything, but especially the second thing I mentioned sort of made it seem more of a drama than a true realistic depiction, in my opinion. Still a pretty good series. I give it 9/10.

Wow the anime seemed like the book 'the walk' I mean, i don't want to spoil it for you, but its basically very similar circumstances like finding out someone isn't real or is a ghost at the end. :p'

I cried my ass off (i've lost someone before, but having their ghost around would make me feel even worse to find out they actually died). And then i felt really tired afterwards. 8/10

The end got me. It had almost perfect closure for this anime.

It's a shame last few episodes dealing with Yuki were dragged for little bit too long, over 80 minutes in fact. I liked how they did his death in episode 8 and subsequent Mirai hallucinations were also thoughtprovoking but sometimes it felt like they are almost trying to force feels. But it was still very enjoyable series with great character developement that leaves its unforgettable imprint in viewer's mind.

Woah, that hit hard. This was a unique story to me. I've never seen an anime about a natural disaster. The only thing I didn't like would be the character designs. Almost everyone looks the same to the point were I wasn't even 100% sure that that was Yuuki on the stretcher at first until I noticed his bag. Overall I really, really liked this anime and am glad to see Mirai becoming less of a bitch. Googling "anime that'll make you cry" did exactly what it was suppose to do.

I would rate "8.0"/10 for namesake, but this truly deserves a 9.

When I got to episode 2 and 3, I was not emotionally prepared for a feels series.
The use of music and, in some cases, sheer silence gave the producers complete control of the emotion in each scene. I could get teary eyed over a scene as simple as a tiny weed growing next to a manhole cover getting stepped on in the rain.

Good ending, even tho I didn't come here to watch some supernatural thing, but overall it was good... didn't think it was boring at all, and although I'm not into strenuous characters I really liked Mari, the best from this show.

The whole thing about Yuuki's ghost/hallucination constantly helping Mirai out was silly.

Had Yuuki lived this would've been a more enjoyable series for me. Just felt like he was bound to die from the start. Their family was already going to be closer after being reunited so there really wasn't a point to his death besides getting people to praise the show for its feels.

Seems like Yuuki's death didn't go down well with some people, I felt like his death added a harsh sense of truth and authenticity.

I mean an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 did hit, deaths are going to happen. I felt like Yuuki's death made us realise the unbearable sadness people go through in those situations and I feel like in order for the writers to get that across a 'main' character had to die to reach our feels *_*

great anime 8/10

Just finished this. Animation was like 3/10 my god... lol. Though I don't care a lot about animation this was something that really stood out (in a bad way).

The story though... oh man. I feel like an emotional trainwreck right now. I was crying my eyes out and I'm still trying to calm down. The part that Yuuki died and his ghost was still alongside Mirai in the end hit the feels pretty hard. I think Yuuki's death was a good part of the story. It shows how hard it can be to lose someone you love and how natural disasters can have a big impact on a family's life, I think this is what the series was trying to show us.

So, that's the end of Tokyo Magnitude and I think it should've been a little bit shorter due to how boring it got to see them get back to their houses. I was tearing up over the end.

This anime is that kind of animes that everyone should watch at least once in his life. Everyone must watch it not due to how fabulous and marvelous it is. Everybody must wacth this anime just for ask yourself what you are doing wrong.
How many times have you argued wih your parents, or with your brother and sister?
How many times have you distrusted someone who loves you thinking he/she is doing something just to make you feel worse? In other word, how many times have you thought someone who loves you is trying to harm you? How many times have you regret not helping someone or not apologizing for something just because your pride haven't let you?
This anime makes you think about all of this and probably makes you act in other way since the moment you have watched it.
Due to this, I love this anime.
I give it 9/10 just because I don't consider it a masterpiece although I think it's one of the animes that it's essential to watch.

I'd rate it 8/10. It caught my eye and decided to just marathon the entire series today. I felt like having Yuuki's spirit in the show kinda of ruined it for me. I wish they just showed that he died in the episode where he actually passes away. It did make the story my emotional, but I would have preferred that.

Why.. just why.. T_T Rest in peace, Yuuki. The last 2 episodes were painful.

Writing wise it wasn't amazing, I thought they could have spent more time on Mirai's development, they kinda rushed through that imo to get to the more important portion of the familial bond, which worked amazingly in the last 2 episodes. Mirai was also really annoying at the beginning of the series, it was hard to sit through.

Emotional impact was 10/10 though, the death of Yuuki really got to me. T_T

That ending really thrilled me.
Yukki's death really came as a surprise to me, because in the entire anime he had signs that he was alive, except in episode 10 that he vanished and appeared out of nowhere.

I didn't even shred a tear when watching Clannad but damn... this show really knows how to do it properly. Bitter-sweet ending even though Yuuki died. I feel bad for Mirai since her character was improving on the latter episodes.

Also, I love how they were able to portray realism to every factor of this anime. Particularly when Mirai couldn't accept the fact that her little brother died. You can really feel how much it hurt her during the last episode.

Dang... I didn't expect anything to this show but damn. Overall.. it's 9/10 for me.

This was just good at first and then turned great when Mirai found out Yuuki really died. Even i was shocked who usually predicts many anime. At least in the end Mirai changed from that spoilt brat behavior thanks to Yuuki and Mari. Mari was the star of the show for me, the way she took care of those children.

I teared up a little when they finally reunited and were crying but it wasn't as much as the tears I got from the old dude. Feels though ;-

The ending was well done. Tokyo survived and is rebuilding itself but the deaths continue to affect those close to them deep down. Yuuki even gave her a final goodbye. He'll always be alive in their hearts and that tree will become his memorial right there.

as one of the reviewers stated, this anime isnt very realistic. the largest earthquake ive faced so far was a ~7.5 2 towns over, which felt like a ~5.5 where we live ~5 years ago. i took over my parents company a long time ago and didnt felt like working that day. my kids were scared *bleep* for a week. luckily they all recovered and arent afraid od earthquakes anymore. imagine all that destruction in the show, kids would definitely grow up scarred. i know for sure in any +8 mag countries all over the world would help with the recovery. it also felt weird how there wasnt any crime during the anime.
[/RANT]

rant over i actually enjoyed the show. it was a very emotional rollercoaster. i dont shed tears and stuff but man all dem feels.

Wow. I hated it. And I loved it as well. I cried the whole time but I think the end was very well done. But maybe can someone tell my why exactly Yuuki died? Did he just die out of exhaustion or because of his fever? Or did he get hurt in some way when Tokyo Tower collapsed? I mean it was a good show and pretty touching but did he really survive all those sh*t just to conk out and die out of nowhere? Because of FEVER? I mean - really?! - how high is the chance of suddenly dying of fever? 1% or maybe less? REALLY?!! :'(

Yuuki got hit in the head with debris. It likely caused brain truma that slowly caused his brain to swell which then caused the fever and pain until he collapsed when the swelling became critical. Because of the delay in getting medical attention he had severe brain damage and died.

Okay, so it really was the Tower. That's pretty intense...
I already thought it must have been something like that because everything else wouldn't have made sense but I'm very bad at medicine/biology so I had no clue what exactly happened. Thanks for the explanation :)
