That ending seemed so suspicious...

Anyway it was supposed to be all nice but all I was thinking was that it was so dangerous to stand under that 'christmas tree'... with the stalactite

Season 2? when???

No season two. The manga is ending the same month the anime is ending. It's getting the manga's original ending.

I REALLY hope that's just rust.
Probably thinking about it too much, but with this anime... who knows.

A few harmless changes from the manga in this episode but it is still being adapted at the perfect pace that I imagined. (Expected the tree ending). I really like all the *cough* red herrings being thrown around. Nobody is going to guess the killer now.

Giving a character that's suspicious red eyes for a short scene isn't the most subtle way of bringing attention to a character you know, A-1. Rather, it's not subtle at all, it's more like they're shoving it into the viewer's face. Same with that last scene between Ken'ya and Yashiro.

It doesn't really give me much hope with how the various clues later are going to be handled. I really hope A-1 doesn't fuck this up.

That's very good news. Much obliged.
I can't stand waiting for the 2nd season or seeing this great story has been abandoned halfway through.

Though I am a manga reader, I just wanted to say that suspicious scenes like the one at the end of the episode happen all the time in anime and often to mislead the viewers.

People get so hilariously defensive over this show. A few people out of like a hundred dare to break rank and vote less than 5/5 in some thread on some dumb message board where half the commentary is just the same thing over and over and they demand the person present themselves for judgement like they've committed some sort of hate crime.

Oh real distinct commentary and light criticism, fascinating stuff. This director has a track record of taking certain aspects and dramatic scenes over the top at times and this show is halfway to being a J-Drama where that's kind of the norm too so not terribly surprised. See the final episodes of SAO and it's antagonist and the rapey reveal of one of the major characters friends being a dick in the second season. Also adults are pretty much always either subtly evil or outright evil in anime and can only make life more miserable for teenagers who always have the right answers and life philosophies. At the very least the male lead isn't really a teenager so it's not as cut and dry as it could be but the vibe is certainly there.

I really love this show. Satoru was really lucky to discover the day she actually dies. The animation in the end was impressive, and with the music you could feel all the melancoly of that scene.

The happy-childhood moments made me feel warm inside, but the children-can-be-dicks moments were a little to real... a sign of good writing.

I wonder, when Satoru said "I used to come up here all the time to ski", was he speaking as the 10yr-old him or was it his 29yr-old self speaking out loud.

That last scene tho... This teacher is definitely not clean. Plus his nonchalant behavior at the classroom when the confict about the stolen money had arisen was just awful, just standing there and smiling, that's not how a competent adult should act.

It's always tough to go back and fix something, trying to change outcomes.. puts someone in a state of worry and stress etc... i really hope he succeeds in this, and im loving the pace, and the music as well.. nice to see the main couple's friendship developing slowly.

As for Kayo's mom, really hit a nerve with me, since i experienced this before with one of my friends and the portrayal is really well done, at least so far.

Cant wait to go deeper into the story. Absolutely AotS.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Even still the aforementioned scenes and depictions were taken well over the top for what was largely descriptive text in the source establishing somewhat of a precedence for the directors dramatic interpretation of certain kinds of scenes.

Probably about that to be honest lol. Just perhaps not outright practically calling for someones head in the middle of a thread when it's like a matter of who gives a shit about some anonymous poll really. Like I said how defensive and insecure do you have to be for that to matter?

It's funny too because while the show is pretty well received elsewhere no other venue is taking it as far as MAL is right now by a long shot where it's almost like some people's personal identity and peace of mind is resting on the reception of this show. ANN some people also voted early, but it's like 7.89/10 Very Good rating by just 15 people really, not 15,000 people summarily declaring a show uncontestable or approachable by all others regardless of genre. Realistically what is the value of some declaration of anime of the season in a slow season like this Winter anyway with maybe a couple other shows that have stood out as particularly effortful like Dimension W and Rakugo (the one that's really caught my attention actually) to be perfectly honest. It just strikes me as Tomohiko Ito isn't the only one capable of taking things over the top here lol.

I much prefer the discussion that this show has going on elsewhere, yes you have your dramatics as is often the case in the modern anime fandom, but some more decent discussion as well, not just the one liners. I suppose it's gotten a little better though, but that's probably because most people haven't dropped their comments yet.

Oh spare me the salt. Almost all of the shows have such people, and heck I wouldn't even call people here as defensive as other fanbases of currently airing shows even. Omg I really love our MC he's so cute.

Are children really this cruel and vindictive? My god bullying the poor girl. And her ploy was so obvious too, it really didn't take a secret 29 year old to find out she was the culprit, can't believe people would really believe that. Unless they're pretending to believe.

I don't like that teacher. He's suspect af.

Can only hope the director doesn't ruin this series. If I have to say anything though, the scene where Satoro gets angry at the girl for framing Hinadzuki in this episode was actually toned down compared to the manga scene where he yells "It was YOU who did this bitch!"

I like the interactions between the kids and classroom dynamics, they're all very believable. It looks great, it's not the most gorgeous artwork I've ever seen but it's perfect for what it is.

Visuals are beautiful. You know, A-1 doesn't give me enough chances to say that.

But after this episode I feel like I have even more reason to be suspicious of him... just look at these shots:

But I'm thinking, maybe he had something else in those files? Something he wouldn't want anyone else to see? Maybe Satoru was about to see something really bad, but the teacher intervened just in time, took the files, played it off nicely and simply showed him a page with the birthdays. That's kinda the vibe I got from seeing that scene anyway. But again, could be a red herring.

I suspect that teacher from day one.

No actually this ones pretty unique as far as this season goes and really only on MAL. Then again there are probably other similarly awful forums for general commentary out there that I haven't discovered yet. Also I always poke a bit of fun at overly dramatic fan reactions (See Fate/Stay Night and No Game no Life), just lately that always seems to happen with A-1 shows. Also when you make what seems like roughly a 5th of the total number of series in a given season the odds are greater such an example is going to land on your doorstep. In any case this conversation is bound to get boring and more stupid so I'll leave it at that, enjoy your forum theatrics.

The pacing is spot on but boy does this show visit some dark places. It;s certainly compelling. I wasn't that impressed after the first episode but it's got better & better. I like the way there is a subtle hint the teacher is involved somehow.

Its strange that if a child is being abused you would sit on it and not take immediate action (certainly as a teacher)

I wasn't sure if they were going to keep in the scene where Satoru went to Yuuki's house and find the Loli porn, but I guess they did put it in there. Its a key element of him being framed by the real person. So yeah, for anyone wondering what he was hiding behind those curtains it loli porn.

5/5 again. If it keeps going at this pace it will stay a 10. I am just worried about the pacing later on. They really aren't cutting too much out. I mean they did in the first episode, but that worked to the adaptations benefit. In the later chapters I don't see much they can cut out that won't effect the anime adaptation's quality. Here's to hoping I'm wrong.

I thought the abuse scene last week was uncomfortable, but this time it was so much worse. Well, at least it seems like there is some hope for Kayo, assuming that Satoru can somehow prevent her from being killed before the end of the Spring Break. Also, that last scene with Kenya was ultra-suspicious, but I'm still not believing that he's the killer; at this point it's already way too obvious as a possibility for it to not be a red herring.

I don't see the problem. That person only wanted to know who the hell voted 1/5. This show is good and definitely don't deserve that rating, thus they only want to know the reason. What's wrong with that? Does that sound like it's directed to someone like they've committed a hate crime?
