I have said this at episode one but i will say it again, DAT AKFG OP lol, really like it, the ending is good as well. I haven't read the manga at all, but based on that i really like everything from this episode, all of those kids are adorable xD Hinazuki is best girl, and i find that satoru's self thought narrations are quite funny too.
I didn't really pay attention to other kids that much when i watched it but after read some post here, come to think about it again i feel that kenya is little bit suspicious too, he is too perfect. Well i hope it is not that simple tho.

I just remembered the director of this is the one from SAO, which had caused a few to worry before it started airing. As of this episode I'd say the direction's actually been one of the strongest point of the show...
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

The aspect ratio switch was kinda neat, and I love what they are doing with this show. I think this will easily be my favorite of winter 2016

AOTS has been certified.

its been a while since an adaptation has made me hungry for the original source.
they told me not to read the manga but it feels more like torture when you know the next episode is just 1 link click away.

Ranked 40 already, can't believe its up in top 50 that quick. Its one of my favorite mangas so I am happy about its getting the attention it deserves. I love Senbai Kai as a mangaka too, so this sheds light on him which is well deserved.

I went back to rewatch this episode to see all the little details and there is lots you can miss if you don't pay attention 100% of the time. Still a great episode upon second watch 5/5.

I like how they added details such as when the kids were talking about Dragon Quest that game had actually just come out around that time.

Also A-1 is doing a really good job with the visuals. If you compare it to the source material it looks really good.

This is AOTS material right here and maybe potentially AOTY (although it's still early)

So they went "Grisaia" on the aspect ratio huh not that I felt bad about it in fact I would really expect they can keep on producing those quality visuals thanks to that, anyway so we get to more about Kayo in this ep, gotta love that park scene where he gave the invitation to her, that blush and that holding hand scene just make me smile a bit, though I felt bad on her getting abused like that by her parents on a young age, hiding those feelings to others.

i think the way he acted as an adult within a child's body was a bit strange.
if you know that something like this happens you don't waste your time. tell your mother about the abused girl from your class, tell her that you have a strange feeling like someones always watching you...

anyway, it was a very good 2nd episode. i like the whole atmosphere, even though i don't get this strange "from yesterday" feeling i usually get when watching an anime that plays in the past (60s,70s,80s; like Sakamichi no Apollon or White Album)

The only thing I'm loving more than this anime is how much love it's getting. Boy, does it deserve it - both for what the manga is and for what the anime has already done in just two episodes.

Still, 12 episodes is so little, I'm worried that it's going to inevitably turn out worse than the original. Which is sad. Best case scenario they will split it into two seasons (there are at least two points in the manga that could serve as season-changers) and take their time.

As one of them manga people I'm really enjoying all kinds of speculations being thrown around here.

#40 is not enough. We need this to go higher!

I also got a little hope it might actually turn out as a split cour. A-1 has done a few recently, so the chances are probably higher than Madhouse ever doing a second season of NGNL.

No kid of that age would ever talk like Kenya or Kayo.
im surprised u can't pick up the fact that only 3 characters who are 10 are the ones who have the most suspicion around them

the other boys acted like 10 year olds. out of 3 characters who act different 1 is really a 29 year old

not going to spoil more but if u can only see whats on the surface u aren't doing my critical thinking

Your critical thinking is going to be so off mark lmao.
Anime does unfitting dialogue for age groups all the time. I highly doubt this is going to be an exception. The dialogue is utilitarian and is there to move the story along. You think those 2 characters are going to turn out be "time travelers" as well huh. Hell no.

I said split cour, not two cour. And the former is not always announced beforehand. It was just a possibility based on what was covered so far. I didn't even say it couldn't tell the story in 12 episodes. No reason to get mad about something like that.

Kenya acts the way he does because he's both a child prodigy and the son of a detective. Satoru said, "He was always the smart one". Its easy to spot a child with a really high IQ because they act more like an adult than a child. They don't say what Kenya's IQ is, but as an example, a child with an IQ of 200 would have the mental age of an adult by the time they're 8 years old.

How insecure and much of a hype kid do you have to be to not only place importance on MAL rankings but literally insist that it has to be arbitrarily given the highest ranking possible. Does it somehow make the show more or lesser otherwise to you? Guy who said MAL is filled with strange characters sure is right, I bet this going to be another one of those shows where people are going to feel pressured not to say anything less than glowingly positive about it here and the threads are going to be filled with the same meaningless commentary like "OMG teh best cinematography" which apparently means anything remotely atypical for TV anime and "This has gotta be AOTS just gotta be" which apparently means...well I don't even know because it's such an objectivist statement, but you can bet those utterances will be repeated over and over again which MAL considers top notch discussion stuff.

It's just so clique it hurts, especially cause the show is pretty decent if it's merits ridiculously overstated and the thread already filled with the usual shitposters acting all high and mighty for something only 2 episodes in, something that's become all too common whenever A-1 does something for noitaminA.

Hype shows tend to do that here. You could tell it was going to be yet another quickie A-1 top 50 thing on MAL right off the first episodes reaction. Happens all the damn time to the point where it's not even surprising anymore.

See literally below this the exact same borderline meaningless stock comment yet again. It's absolutely ridiculous if not hilarious. Like what does the producer get a cookie if some person on MAL declares it AOTS? What does it even matter let alone mean?

I can already imagine the MC getting kidnapped along with the girl at this point. What can he possibly do if the kidnapper decides to take them both? Well, at least it makes sense why he was Revived so far back in time. Finding the real kidnapper pretty much kills 2 birds with 1 stone. In other words, he's preventing multiple incidents that probably occurred over the past 18 yrs along with saving his mother. By the looks of it, he won't have another Revival for at least 18 yrs since he hasn't had Revivals within Revivals in the past. I can also imagine him speaking his mind by accident getting him into trouble. He was lucky this time. Honesty doesn't always work that smoothly.

It was confirmed it will have the same ending as the manga, which doesn't necessarily mean it will adapt everything (without skipping) nor that it will happen within these 12 episodes.
It was just a wild speculation based on the pacing so far, and the possibility is most likely very small. You really shouldn't think too much about it.
