Everyone part ways. I think Faye will come back cos she was shown in the preview with the girl in Spike's past. Really liked this episode. The music, the colourless shots of Faye's past, Ed going to find his dad, the ending scene with Spike and Jet. Really looking forward to the next two episodes. Have been told so many times that Cowboy Bebop has one of the best ending of all time.

Great soundtrack and we get some more backstory for Faye and Ed before they leave. Looks like the last two episodes will be about Spike, makes sense I guess.

It's funny cuz Ed's father is the only guy that spike couldn't beat lol.

The ending scene where Faye is trying to remember her past while Ed and Ein leaving was sad. Also, the music was very well placed. And in the end it finished just how it started. Definitely one of the best ones in the series.

Ed's father name is turkish and with correct spelling it is:

Afedersiniz, hesap lütfen

which literally translates to:

"Excuse me, check please!"

and that is pretty random and cool =)

I'm not crying, YOU'RE CRYING! Even the third time around, this episode still hits me right in the feels. Definitely among the better episodes, even if it has quite the opposite of closure - but in a way that's one of the central messages of the anime, isn't it? There are some things that don't work out, that don't come to neat conclusions. You just have to find your place in the world, make do with what you have, find happiness or whatever it may be... and not be tied down by your past.

And oh boy does that contrast with the next two-parter. In a way, it almost is like a three-parter. I think this episode sets a lot of things up, even if it isn't directly related to the story.

Man, I love Cowboy Bebop.

Can we all just agree that the remains of Faye's hometown is such an A E S T H E T I C???

The palm trees and patches of grass and shining waters mixed with the crumbled remains of quartz Roman-esque architecture.

A fantastic episode. That bye bye at the end was really sad. ED got to be with her Father and Faye found out things about her past. Now there are two. Only 2 more episodes.

Why hasn't anyone else compared Faye's hometown to the environment seen in "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō"? I mean... it's an anime that not a lot of people have seen. But, I'm telling you, Faye's gorgeous (yet decayed) is remarkably similar to where "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō" takes place. I found myself marveling out Faye's hometown and wishing for more of that vibe, and you can find it in YKK. I feel like I'm the only one interested in such an obscure and insignificant concept, but if anyone else out there is like me, I'm sure you'll appreciate my insight. :)

Definitely sad to see both Ed and Ein go, and judging by the look of it so are Jet and Spyke. Spyke complaining about hating dogs, women with attitude and pets not too long ago really goes to show that just because you've become used to loneliness it doesn't mean you really like it.

franticbisque said:
I personally felt that since talking about food and being hungry has been a recurring theme and motivation to hunt for bounties in the series eating all those eggs was a bitter catharsis for Spike and Jet: for once they had all they could eat but finding that it wasn't satisfactory when the others were gone.
That's a good one, they actually started the show barely scraping for food.

I kinda miss the type of "free like the wind" characters like Ed, while they were more popular in the past, it seems like we don't get them in anime and manga anymore.

But Faye drawing a bed on the ground for herself was really the most heartbreaking part. I didn't really focus on it before, since Faye didn't seem to dwell on this, but waking up in a time where there isn't a single person you know must be one of the worst things. Without a single relationship in the world one would be like a log adrift in the ocean.

Even if one somehow dislikes all this, you just can’t deny these atmospheric vibes man...

I’m onto the last episodes here but I’m going to take away my favourite part of this series it’s gotta be the little moments of our favourite alpha male spike. Like in this episode, just brushing his teeth on a battered ship among the sunken ruins of earth.... *chefs kiss*. Or just chowing down on some fookin hard boiled eggs with jet. Quality right there

One question, why did the syndicate turn on Spike? Was it because Vicious was planning revenge or a take over and Spike associated with Vicious?

Amazing episode. Faye's story finding her friend from Back in the days was emotional, finding out Edward' story and finding out who her Dad is was funny aswell as an amazing feeling. On Edward aswell as on Faye it really did show that they care to be attached to somewhere or to someone witch is a big lesson to the people who's watching.

I hate when a franchise's main cast is separated like that, it always makes feel sad... But it's often for the best, and here, it seems to be the case, at least when it comes to Ed. But what about Faye ? Yes, she remembers her past but everything has moved on without her, so is she going to be fine ?

.....................................................................................and Ein even gave some steps back to Bebop nave seconds earlier ;'( ...............but he ended up choosing Ed ♥ ;'(

this ep is obviously going to be deeply remarkable for me as one of the series best!
growing up can be mostly painful, but that's also part of all the process... the Faye's run until her destroyed house, which she previously should know that was destroyed considering the local around in complete ruins, sums up this changing cycle very deeply; feeling of total devastation flood the scene...

Anyway, someone needs to tell Jet that he can't be generalising that every bad mood has hunger as the motif; actually, sometimes, people find in food a subterfuge to distress, anxiety or some kind of personal dissatisfaction, the body is not only made of desire and/or carnal needs, we're always in searching for something somehow.

A great episode right before things wrap up. I liked learning more about Faye and Ed's backstory, but it was sad to see them leave. Although, I'm assuming they'll show up again in the final episode.

If I was Faye I definitely would've stayed to ask more questions, but I guess she wasn't thinking clearly. And Ed's father doesn't seem like a very reliable person. Oh, and that scene with Spike and Jet eating those eggs made me gag, lol.

Looking forward to see how this ends.

Not a lot of major flaws I can point out with this one. Though oddly paced when it shouldn't be sometimes, it really nails the conclusion for Ed and Faye, with the obvious stand-out animation and music elevating that up to a max. I wish this would've been a two parter though, I feel like some bits were way too all over the place. Definitely one of the strongest episodes, maybe even the strongest so far.

In general, the entire finale of Bepop was a complete pushover. So much mystery around vicious, Julia, and Spice. Only to end up with a half-baked Hollywood buster that barely made it in terms of content.

And honestly "SPOILER"

The death of Julia was almost a bad joke. I want every minute of screentime back where they talked about her. Likewise, the ending of Spice, what a waste. I couldn't perceive the slightest emotion in the episode, and it wasn't because of the adaptation's execution.

People come and go. Contentment becomes nostalgia. The present becomes the past. Such is the way of life portrayed by Cowboy Bebop - that nothing is permanent. Even Ed and her radiant, chaotic energy had to move on eventually. And Faye, having finally confronted her past, is now pondering what she truly wants to do with her life. In the meantime, Spike and Jet are have an eggcellent dinner. Ok, I'm sorry. But if anything, the post me above is right. Eating those eggs was definitely a means of catharsis for them. Yeah, that's right - even Spike, the epitome of coolness and nonchalance, feels hollow with Ed gone.

But is moving on truly better? Ed's future, after all, is very unpredictable. Who knows whether she'll be able to maintain a healthy relationship with her so-called "father". Who knows if she and Ein will live long lives. But that's exactly how life works - it's unpredictable, ironic, and fleeting. A lot of us merely drift through it, grasping at the things that fulfill us. And for many of us it's a sense of belonging, like Faye says.

Anyway, things are really starting to wrap up here. Everyone seems to be confronting their pasts, and it looks like Spike is next. I'm interested to see on what note Cowboy Bebop intends to end on, although I'm sure it'll be something that reinforces its existential themes.

Geez. Amazing episode. Definitely one of my favourites of all time. Between Hard Luck Woman and Jupiter Jazz, I’ve come to realise that the best episodes of Bebop are the ones that emphasise the only real commonality between the characters of having nowhere to go and nothing to lose, which is probably what makes their resolution and departure from the show so especially heartrending and gratifying. I remember that scene at the end of the episode where Jet and Spike start ravenously comfort eating after seeing Ed's farewell message so well to the point where I thought it would reduce its impact, but the anticipation of it has somehow only strengthened it for me. It’s such a candid and believable reaction that I was just barely teetering on responding the same way. Ed’s really grown on me as a character on this second viewing, probably because her performance in the English dub is just so much better.

I'm also glad to say that I got my kick from hearing that 30-second snippet of Wo Qui Non Coin in the preview for and during this episode. Definitely my favourite of all the songs on the Bebop soundtracks, though I honestly can't tell because of how great Space Lion, Waltz for Zizi, Autumn in Ganymede, Piano Black and Green Bird are.
