by the sounds of it (if you keep it up) you will easily have over a thousand by the time you are 30 if that. age does play a big part haaha and some people don't like you knowing their age which is understandable

Exactly, but the reason I can watch a lot is
1. I have good grades, so my dad doesn't mind if I watch anime.
2. I watch in the night, because then I can other things in the evening/afternoon or watch even more lol.
3. And some people doesn't go to school/college/ work? So they got more spare time?
4. There are people that prefer watching anime over other things, like watching the news?

But the main reason is age, some are veterans that watched anime for more then 10++ years and there are rookies like me that watched for 5-10 years, but not ''no-life''= more then 1 episode a week?

SAO only has 14 episodes and Death Note has 26 episodes, they're just listed incorrectly on MAL.

It's not that hard. Even if you watch 1-2 episodes a day it will pile up after some time and I doubt you can't make free time for at least 1 episode a day.

If you pick your episodes right that can be an anime a day. It's surprising how many 20-30 minute anime films are on MAL and are available subbed.

Those people must be older, besides they have been watching anime for so long, it also depends on how much time you have and how addict you are, if you found tons of fun and interesting anime you will watch them quickly and you will not realize the time you spend!

I really don't care about how much anime I have watched, it's just for fun after all!
Enjoy it!

1. Maybe they watch all anime of the season without droppin them. Or maybe dropp 2 about 10 of the same season (for example, summer 2012)

2. years. Without taking a "vacation" of watching anime, you can watch every day an amout of episodes and thats why they can reach easily the 1000 anime.

Personally I can't watch a lot of animes. Years ago I really want to reach 500 animes, but Now I think thats impossible. Maybe in 3 years, but not now just because I want to watch some other things instead of anime. I don't want to see too much animes.

I've completed 25 shows in the past 6 months, this is the highest density of anime I've ever watched and if I continue with pace I'll be at 500 in 10 years. There are users who've been watching anime for longer than that and some of them watch even more per day.

Perhaps what you're doing matters? Like what age you began and how much free time you have on your hands.
Possible to watch at least 24 episodes [b]minimum[/] currently during weekends and at least 12 episodes during weekdays.
"How do people watch so many anime?"

Because we enjoy watching it, most likely.

Basically watching anime for me is kinda replacing watching TV / Youtube / Movie / Gaming / Reading during leisure time.

Atm, Im pretty happy with my style that allowed full utilize my free time.
As long as I still have stuff stored somewhere in hard drive.

It was kinda like completionist mindset though, Im admit probably it is not for everyone.
Nah, i dont think sharing anime ratings in signature is cool thing.

Here, stare at this pointless signature instead.

I started watching anime in 2012. I have done so fairly sporadically since then and at this point really want to watch a lot more. So far, I've only watched about 30 series', but have 15 on my impending watch list. I'm not necessarily hoping to see tons of anime for the sake of seeing tons of anime, but for the sake of enjoying all the shows I do see.

I'm watching a good 6-8 episodes per day now, but I used to only watch about 2-4 episodes per day. I've been watching anime for less than two years and I have completed 432 anime so far. I have a job but I still make time for anime. I once completed 35 anime in one day and more recently completed 20 anime in a day. Around half of the anime I have watched are only one episode not including movies.

I find it so stupid the need some people have of bulking up their list. Here that equals to popularity. That's understandable in a way since this person could give good tips on anime and so what but that's it.
When I find this profiles I feel shocked instead of impressed since everyone has the same 24hrs days as anyone else and that means these people spent most of them in front of the tv.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy anime and manga and the whole otaku thing. But I do this for the fun. I really like watching TV shows as well.
But I've got other things to do...

I think a lot of people don't take sleeping habits into account. I personally get about 6 hours of sleep on average, but plenty of my friends all need 8-9.
Where one of them would sleep at 11pm, I wouldn't sleep until 2am. In that time alone I could watch 8 or so episodes. That's after finishing the day; after finishing work, cooking, socialising down at the pub, etc.

Now if you watch any anime at all before the times given as examples, it's suddenly very easy to start watching 10+ episodes daily.
It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether!

I randomly click on people's profiles and I notice them having over 500 items and I can't understand where you get the time to do this. Hell, some profiles have over a 1000 and I was in shock at the sheer magnitude. The most anime I can watch in a day is like 13 episodes and then I need a break.

When did you start this? How long does it take it you marathon? Tips perhaps to get through more anime?

Well I started watching anime when I was 5 years old but made it as a "career" at age 12 xD. So from all the anime that I am watching I do remember them and I migrate it here in MAL as my "excel anime like list" because I want them to be remembered just in case if I want to rewatch them ;) Plus the anime that I usually watch are the "Starter Pack" Bleach, One Piece and Naruto that has over a hundred episodes xD.
As for the per day basis - I used to marathon One Piece that made me watch 23 episodes per day and 23 episodes = 16 or 18 hours (inclusive of eating right infront of the TV) xD so yea =D

It can be easy to watch a lot of shows, but its finding good ones that is the hard part. I say that its very easy to watch 28 animes per year, since if you watch 7 animes in a season and all are on different days then its just 20ish mins of someone's day to watch them. The hard part is normally watching good anime or anime that you can enjoy on each of those days.

For me since I started watching anime as they are made during the season, I usually look up anime that are upcoming for the season and read the descriptions. If I think it sounds interesting I'll give it a watch. Then after somewhere around weeks 5-7 of a season, I may take a look at anime that are in the new and popular section of the website I use, to see if there is any good anime that lots of people seem to enjoy, but didn't catch my interest via the description at the start of the season. Also looking at the new+popualr section halfway through the season is usually the best time since all the hyped anime that haven't lived up to expectations fall out of the top 10, while all the interesting or animes that didn't start with a big fanfare climb into it. Although I only started doing that last year, before then I would randomly chose an anime to watch either through what people recommended or what the random anime of the day was.

Although I don't see why you're surprised. I thought the point of "hobbies" and such were to enjoy them to the fullest ie watching shit tons of anime.

It takes time. If you have been watching for years then it's possible and yes, having lots of free time and have nothing better to do also helps. lol

But then you shouldn't watch anime just so you have something to "show off". You should watch because you want to. Then once you watched enough and you want to know just how many anime you've watched and you have nothing better to do then add them on your list.

I am surprised to know that there are people who will watch short anime just so they have something to show off from their list. It's not like you will get any reward from that.

The median length of an anime series (3+ episodes) is 13 episodes so sticking to that watching 13 episodes a day would easily get you a lot of anime watched. You could also watch a movie or two a day at that rate or watch a lot of short films (40- minutes, easy to watch a couple a day even if you don't watch much anime). Music videos are also common and OVA/ONA series tend to be a fair bit shorter than regular TV series. You can also watch anime that are split into multiple seasons in order to get more completed anime for the same amount watched.
