To be honest when i saw all those shelves with boxes, i started wondering how he can keep that shop going when Sidonia tends to make manoeuvrings every now and then that will throw those boxes all over the place and destroy many of them.

To be honest it's Nihei himself that's doing it. Most of that stuff is in the manga. As to why he does it, well, sometimes I think it's all tongue in cheek, and he's making fun of precisely that kind of generic romcom stuff. He does have that sense of humour.<br />

The cynical view is that he needs to pay his bills like everyone else and that stuff sells. I don't know if he's given any interviews about Sidonia's turn to the romance genre.<br />

On another note, like always I watched Sidonia with my best Sennheiser headphones to appreciate the magnificent sound effects. But stupid me didn't turn the volume down when they fired that cannon and as result the ringing in my ears won't stop.
