I also think it was quite interesting. I though it will be nice to watch something with sci-fi since I like this genre a lot, and I really like robot themes. Plot seems interesting, also it's kinda dramatic and feels like nice slice of life. It's only first episode, but you can be close to cry at the nearly end, and then at the very end, laugh. xD
Though it was kinda boring. But very fine concept. Hope it will become better some time later, let's see. ;)

Wow, I can't believe I was going to skip over this series. This was a lot better than I expected. The art is nice to look at and the characters weren't bad. The drama in the last half caught me off guard. I can sense the upcoming feels for this series as we go along. All in all, nice episode.

Normally I dislike cry-porn series, but this has potential and it had a pretty good first ep. The story has echoes of Mahoromatic and Eve no Jikan. Shame about the self insert MC-kun though.

Looks interesting but why are they made androids that metabolize and expel waste...?

Because people buy them to act as believable humans?

Antanaru said:
Why are they using rings put on finger to shut them down?

1. To make sure it's mutually consenting
2. For security, wouldn't want anyone to be able to just shut down androids

Antanaru said:
Why is department responsible for dealing with something that hugely impacts company's image and sales so small and irresponsible?

They don't seem irresponsible, and they were 'downsized' as they pointed out. The androids have been on the market for many years (obviously more than 15 years) and in that time they've gone from being a luxury that almost nobody could afford to something less expensive, and that doesn't just come from cheaper production and parts, but also comes from the usual corporate restructuring and effecitivizing we all know from the real world.

Hell, I worked in a solar cell factory once, the warehouse was cut 4 times to the point it was pretty much just a buffer zone. Administration went from dozens of people to just 4.

Antanaru said:
Why are they even letting a single company play God? That's a lot of disbelieve to suspend. I'll keep watching it but I hope there won't be too many asspulls to just walk over.

They already explained only one company was able to perfect this technology yet.

None of the things you mentioned are asspulls, you just seem to lack understanding, or simply hunting for things to dislike.

I didn't know anything about this series before walking in. But what a pleasant surprise this is. Emotional, but human, and without forcing the drama. I mean, I think we're all thinking the same thing because the central conflict is clear right from the get-go, and that is: what will happen when Isla reaches her time limit? Man.

From the title itself, I feel that this has a lot of emotional stress. I hope that I'm wrong in my current judgement of this.

Isla seems to be cute acting all bashful when they said that she is a veteran in retrieving the other Giftias that will shut down soon. It looks difficult to persuade persons who just won't let them go.
I have no clue how to compare Giftias from humans, so this is gonna be a little difficult.

I picked this up thinking it is quite average but looks like i am wrong

this is probably the first anime that had my crying.. if the rest develops the same way just like the first this is going to be the best "feels train" i have ever gotten on

likeable characters, great art style, good animation and story is, well ;_;

why androids have a short service life? Can memories be stored and brought back?
this really deserves some background world building.. maybe we will find out soon enough.

the feels are going to kill me.

yep, overall 5/5

This episode resonated with me even harder than it normally would have because I just had to see off my dog Nina to her original owner who had entrusted us to take care of her for a year now. And I grew attached to her but oh well..it was pretty ironic that this episode also featured a goodbye to Nina lol.

I didn't think I was going to cry during this episode, but I did. When Nina was trying to tell her grandmother everything she'd have to remember to do on her own because Nina wouldn't be there to do it for her any more, I was legit crying into my bowl of noodles. I mean, when that first family had to let go of their "son" I thought I knew what I was in for, but holy hell was I wrong.

Very moving episode! I definitely look forward to more. :D

I felt sad and uneasy the whole time I was watching this. Even through the lighthearted and comedic beginning (which was funny, for sure), the premise was enough to already get my emotions worked up in anticipation of what this show really has in store. That, and Isla's subtly despondent facial expressions.

The soundtrack to this is simple amazing at times, especially the ending theme. I wonder if we'll get a proper ED portion or if it'll be like this episode where it plays over a scene.

Either way, the soundtrack's going to be an insta-get for me once it comes out.
The instrumental arrangement of Again and Again during the beginning was gorgeous as well. :D

Wow, that was a good episode. Really like the setting and characters. At first, I thought Isla was going to be the silent type because of her voice but she turned out to be such an amusing character. Quite a bit of good laughs throughout the episode.

Oh god, I didn't expect feels at the end. I knew something sad was coming but I didn't expect it to actually hit. Really hope this series turns out to be a good one with lots of feels as well as comedy.

Interesting and thought provoking, let alone they really knew how to pull at the heartstrings. I didn't know what to expect, but wow, that was a good episode. A good mix of emotional content and comedy. The ending threw me a dang curve ball just when my eyes were water falling for Nina...lol.

The show has shades of the film 'Blade Runner' (based off the sci-fi novel 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep') in where different "Replicants" were produced in order to serve certain uses but are very human in appearance, emotion, and behavior. They have memories implanted in them too adding to their humanity of sorts, except they are a tad more smarter and stronger. But here's the catch, the Replicants have an expiration date as well and with no means of extending their lifespan, just like the 'Giftias' in Plastic Memories. If you haven't seen the movie or read the book, I suggest you do and you'll see some of the parallels. That's one of the reasons in which Plastic Memories grabbed my attention. Plus the characters seem likable so far.

I know this is an amine and I'm not sure if they pulled ideas and themes from Blade Runner, but now I wonder... is Isla nearing her termination date? (the scene in the beginning where she was crying may be a foreboding of her impending fate or is that due to something else) Will Tsukasa fall in love with her and try to run away together dodging the SAI instead of decommissioning her? And so on and so forth.

I guess we'll see how things unfold in the remaining eleven episodes. But so far so good. Just wondering how much water works and feels are going to occur as this captivating new show unfolds. Highly recommended.

Holy shit I was not expecting to feel that hard right off the pilot. I love how it did an amazing job introducing the implications of the Android system and the Retrieval System, although I'm not looking forward to seeing a case when they have to retrieve an already decayed android.

I kind of do and do not want them to keep up this pace throughout the series. It will be amazing but heartbreaking simultaneously.
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

The first episode was pretty darn good. If every episode is like this then this can be a potential top 5 of the season for me.

We have these androids called Giftia with AI similar to act like a human. I wonder how do people differentiate between humans and androids in this series???

The Giftia acts as potential family members to serve the role of being together with a lonely person. I guess that's what their purpose is.

The characters in this show are all likeable bunch. Zack is so funny lol. Isla's cuteness is off the charts. Loved her pouting and her clumsiness but at times seeing her making that sad smile and crying...heartbreak!!

The most heartbreaking part is that seeing them develop emotions on par with humans and them being unable to let go of their loved ones when time comes for them for their memories to be ripped apart. Seriously though, I teared up (almost on the verge of crying) after seeing Nina's will to live until she said goodbye to the grandma.

Damn, I'm too weak for this. I need to go punch the wall or watch some Jojo now...

So we have Tsukasa who does nothing in his job.
There's also Isla the Giftia with her epic jump, her attempts to persuade, and her uncontrollable bladder.

I like the concept and the OST helps with that.
From the first episode, I can already see Isla "dying".
Yes, this episode is depressing, but I can't wait for the feels train. (T_T)

I liked it, another one of the stronger series from what I've seen so far. The idea definitely holds a lot of potential, though I can already see where they'll be going towards the end of the series. With androids in the main cast, it's more than likely that we'll see one of them die sooner or later.

The only thing that actually bugged me is the fact that it doesn't really make any sense that they can replace these androids but aren't able to keep their memories. Technically speaking, it shouldn't be much of a problem to do so, the only reason I can see this being a thing would probably be the privacy issue that has already been mentioned (in other words, SAI probably isn't allowed to do anything with the memories of these androids whatsoever due to government regulations or something along those lines), but maybe it'll be explained later on.

Definitely looking forward to seeing more!

Ok, it is a quite sad story, a lot of feels just from the first episode alone. The slow piano is effective.
What kind of distracted me was the ending because it looked like they didn't want to end on such a sad note so the tried (and failed in my eyes) to lighten up the mood at the very last scene.
Also, who gets a job without even knowing what the job is about? He must have been highly recommended by someone with influence.

It's quite a sad story like everyone has said. I almost cried near the end.

People who think Isla is a horrible character and the piss joke was bad don't seem to realize that her character is meant to take tension or the depressing feeling away from seeing a sad scene to make you feel less depressed and a bit more happy instead of making the show just full on depressing.

I quite liked this episode so I'll keep watching it as it's definitely caught my attention making me want to know what happens next.

Not really that hard to believe. Human memories would require an enormous amount of storage so I can imagine in this anime universe they invented a type of super high capacity but volatile memory that degrades after a specific run time (like early SSD's before proper wear leveling). This memory might be integrated into the andriod in such a way that prevents copying without disconnecting power.

Honestly though it is an anime and shouldn't use real world as a comparison. Most animes have magic in it :P.
